                    Celia POV
When I walked into the arena, the memories of when Brenda was alive flashed in my head and I remembered how all of us were standing side by side and laughing. I remembered her funny remarks and the tears streamed down my face as I couldn’t believe that she was dead and just the thought about how I could have died flashed in my head.
Miss Donna who stood behind me noticed and placed a hand on my shoulder. “wipe your tears,” she mouthed and I nodded in response.
“it is all going to be fine,” she assured me and I nodded in response believing in her word.
I turned to face the werewolves that were seated in the arena.
There were hundreds of them just like the opening of the contest.
My eyes roamed until they landed on Graham who was seated at the center of the arena. His eyes met mine and he gave me a reassuring smile as if he knew what was going through my mind.
That was a false accusation and I didn’t like how she made it seem like I was the reason why Brenda had to die. “what are you accusing me of?” I asked her and she chuckled. She didn’t raise her head to face me but I could see the wide grin on her face as if she was mocking me. “you must be stupid to think that I would ever do anything to hurt Brenda,” I told her and frowned. whatever is running in your head is not the truth. I didn’t kill her.”
“Then why…” She raised her head to face me. they were red probably from crying too much. She pointed a finger at me. “why is it that when you were removed from the contest, she died? are you trying to tell me that it is a coincidence?” she laughed. “oh please!” she yelled at me. “I am above your bullshits and I know that you were responsible for the death of Brenda!”
My heartbeat went thump thump as I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t say anything but just stared at her. Maybe she was right when she said that Brenda died as soon as I was removed from the concubine list. Maybe it was all my fault and I shouldn’t be there.
I blinked back the tears in my eyes and looked to my right side hoping that I would see a way to leave but my eyes met with miss donna who stared at me suspiciously as if she understood what was happening around me. She shook her head at me telling me not to go and I nodded in response and heaved a deep sigh.
I suddenly felt nauseous and the urge to throw up came but I fought back my desire. Throwing up in front of all those people would raise questions and Hallie could be declared the winner at that moment. Trust me when I say that I could be pathetic but that was the truth.
I didn’t come that far to give up. The goal was to become a noble consort and have a say in the affairs of the werewolves.
Everything that I was doing was to make sure that I became powerful enough to free the humans. I clenched my fist as I thought about what I could gain if I chose to stay.
“if I were you, I will give up,” Hallie said. “That if you have any conscience left,” she said and I laughed because I lost my conscience ever since I was sold to alpha Graham.
“Well,” I smiled at her and pointed to the horses bought in by the guards. “giving up is not in my option,” I chuckled and took the helmet from the guard and wore it above my head. “I have been given a chance to prove myself to the humans and I am going to do anything to win,” I told her and she frowned as she walked towards her horse.
The two horses were both white. One was handed to me and the other to Hallie. “welcome everyone,” Paul made the announcement and I raised my head to face him. Right there, Angelica walked in and sat amongst the lords. Our eyes met and she gave me a smirk while I returned the gesture by smiling at her.
She had thought that she was crazy but I was crazier. We both glare at each other for a moment until she averted her eyes and looked toward Hallie smiling at her.
“We are all gathered here after a week to finish the contest and crown the noble consort,” he announced and the werewolves cheered. “the last phase is the horse riding and in this, the two candidates are required to travel through the forest and face all challenges that might kill them which means that they are becoming stronger. This last contest shows the responsibility of a leader and how they can be accepted in the society.” Paul announced and turned towards us.
1 closed my eyes and nodded my head believing in myself that I could do it. I fluttered my eyes open and looked toward Graham. He gave me a thumbs up and I nodded at him. “you may climb your horses now,” Paul instructed.
With the help of the guards around us, I was able to safely climb the horse without having to fall. Once I was on top of the horse, I looked towards Hallie. “may the best runner wins,” I told her.
“And may the loser die!” she declared and I wasn’t surprised by her outburst because she still believed in her hand that was responsible for the death of Brenda. I was going to prove her wrong by letting her know that Brenda’s death was planned by someone who could be in that gathering.
“you both can proceed at the sound of the whistle,” Paul shouted and I nodded in response. I looked towards miss donna and remembered her words about horse riding.
Be connected with your horse,” | muttered and placed my free hand on top of the horse’s head and smiled because I already know that I was connected with the horse.
Once the whistle blew, I kicked my horse and shouted holding the horse retrains. “aye!” I said and the horse galloped forward and then started running. “wow!” | laughed as the horse ran so fast but not in a life-threatening situation. “just watch as I overcome my fear and become the noble consort who would save all humans!” I smiled at myself and saw Hallie’s horse running past me.
“catch up if you can!” she laughed as her horse ran in front of mine and left me at some distance.
“Aye!” I shouted and kicked the horse again moving forward and I burst into laughter. “bring it on!”
