                    ~ Gwen ~
“Gwen? That’s my name?” She asked while her expression softened. The name was undoubtedly close to her heart.
She looked down and studied herself: her hands, her conservative clothes. She even felt her hair. Then, she returned her attention to the man before her.
Theron was a handsome man. He wore a sleek, dark suit. His hair was a bit long, up to his nape, and even with most of his clothes covering him, Gwen saw a hint of his tattoos on his arms. She gulped and asked, “Are you - are you really my fiance?”
“Yes,” Theron replied in a heartbeat.
“What - what happened to me? How come I don’t remember anything?” Gwen asked. She frowned and stared at the woman with white hair. “And what about her? Who is she?”
For some reason, Gwen did not feel comfortable with the woman.
“She is one of my advisers, Victoria. She is a witch.” Theron softly answered. He gently held Gwen’s hand, and with the other hand, he held her chin and urged her to look into his eyes. “Listen to me, Gwen. You were kidnapped.”
“Kidnapped?” Gwen reacted, her heart racing altogether.
“We don’t know what happened while you were taken, but basically, your former mate, Theo Erhart, kidnapped you,” Theron revealed.
“Former mate?” Gwen asked. “Theo?”
“I will admit that you had a mate, but Theo rejected you. It was I who loved you and accepted you for who you are. When he found out that we were in love, he could not accept it. He came into my lands and took you.” Theron said before shaking his head. “I’m sorry that happened. It was a lack of security on my part, but I promise you, darling, that won’t happen again.”
“Ah -” She winced, feeling pain in her head. Gwen massaged her temples before seeing flashes of images of her past.
‘I, Alpha Theo Erhart of Port Leon, reject you, Gwenneth Darwin, as my mate and my luna!’ Gwen saw memories of a man giving words of rejection, and that scene particularly stabbed a knife into her heart.
Gwen immediately gasped. A tear fell down her cheek as she clenched her hand against her chest. She muttered, “Theo.”
“He hurt you, Gwen. That’s why you fled. We met after he rejected you and brought you here to my palace.” Theron held Gwen tightly and declared, “I, Theron, Alpha King of New Arcadia, am your chosen mate, and we love each other.”
He reached out to her, aiming for her face, but Gwen instinctively turned away. Almost immediately, she regretted her decision. Glancing back at Theron, she saw anger in his eyes, but he quickly changed his expression to something resembling pain, as if he was disappointed in her.
Theron shut his eyes and stood up. He took deep breaths and softly said, “I’ll give you some time. The maids will be here to give you food and clothes. You rest for now.”
“It’s true,” the woman named Victoria said. She had a gentle expression as she glanced at Gwen. “We need to give Gwen some time. Besides, we have matters to deal with right now. Let Gwen rest.”
They regarded her with utmost care before leaving the room. When alone, Gwen stood up from the bed, her knees weak as she walked to the room’s balcony.
A fresh, cool breeze brushed against Gwen’s face. She stared at the green lawn surrounding the estate and the lush trees around the palace. She gulped and asked, “Why - why can’t I remember?”

“She is too pale and weak! This is not what we agreed on!” Theron scolded Victoria in his study. “You took out too much blood from her!”
Victoria rolled her eyes and countered, “I said it was the only way to penetrate through her thoughts and make her forget! It is very difficult to use magic on her, especially with her ability to heal herself. I don’t know how many times I must tell you, but I did what I had to do!”
“Are you saying that the spell on her is not foolproof? That she could regain her memories?” Theron asked.
“Yes, because she can cure herself. Her memories are only temporarily locked away, because once she regains her full strength, she can remember who she is.”
Theron frowned. He growled and asked, “So, can she serve her purpose with me? You know how I was going to use her!”
“Do you need a spiteful woman in bed? At least I will be giving you an obedient sex slave!” Victoria retorted. Then, she gritted her teeth and said, “Don’t worry. I simply sealed most of her memories away. During the initial process, I needed her to be very weak, but as long as she does not gain her full strength and believes us, she won’t remember. We just need to take blood from her on a regular basis.”
“I know you are concerned about this, but trust me, I know what I am doing,” Victoria said. “Right now, we have more important matters to attend to.”
“What important matters?” Theron asked through gritted teeth.
“I don’t know how, but my mortal enemy has freed herself from her prison, and I need your men to take her down,” Victoria said, raising her chin.
“Mortal enemy?” Theron hissed as he put his hands on his waist. He asked, “Who?”
“The Grand Witch of New Arcadia,” Victoria revealed.
There was a moment of silence before Theron’s face boiled in anger. He screamed, “Whaaat? Are you fucking telling me you are enemies with the strongest witch in the country?! How dare you -”
“Whether you like it or not, my problem is your problem because if I die, Gwen will remember everything!” Victoria shot back. Her eyes rounded as she demanded, “Therefore, you must help me!”
~ Theo ~
“Maybe we should head out first,” Baron told Theo before glancing at the Grand Witch, Aurora. “Can we really wait for another day?”
They were at the peak of Blackpelt Ridge. Of course, the town was called as such due to the mountain ranges that surrounded them.
When Aurora said she needed to rest, she failed to mention she would do it on a hilltop. After sleeping overnight at the brick house, they had traveled to the hills and had camped in the same place, bringing food and water.
While Theo and his men wandered around, planned, and rested, Aurora sat at the highest peak, seemingly meditating. Often, King Arthur brought her food and water. Still, like the other werewolves present, he also ran through the ridge with Theo to build his stamina.
“She is gathering energy from the nature around her. It’s her way of recovering,” Malrick explained while distributing food to Theo’s group. “Trust our master. Only she can truly defeat Victoria.”
“Besides, if indeed one of the Twin Vorax Ari is in your son’s arm, only Aurora can remove the creature from Victoria,” the warlock added. “Again, Trust Aurora.”
Theo sucked in a deep breath as he glanced back at Baron. He was left with no choice but to wait another day.
Aurora descended the following day. Aurora radiated an aura of undeniable power and renewal when she stood before them. Her skin had glowed as if kissed by the moonlight. Her eyes had blazed like twin stars, alive with energy, and her expression had exuded confidence, wisdom, and unrelenting strength. Around her, the air had felt charged, almost electric, vibrating with unseen power.
With a smile on her face, she said, “I’m ready.”
She glanced at Theo and claimed, “Let’s get back your wife.”
