~ Gwen ~
“We are here,” Theo said while holding her hand. “We are in Northern Alfar.”
After what felt like forever, traveling through a white void, Gwen stood before a castle with warriors guarding it. She asked, “Is this your pack?”
Yes, it seemed not long ago when they had all gathered to leave through a portal. Now, they were in Northern Alfar.
“I’m - I’m -” Aurora was in front of the group. She tried to speak, but she ended up fainting. King Arthur was quick to catch her in his arms.
Just then, warriors, looking like royal guards, swarmed over them.
“Your Highness, you are back!”
“It’s King Arthur and Alpha Theo!”
“Quickly, prepare my room and let my mate rest,” King Arthur commanded the warriors. Turning to the rest of the group, he explained, “I believe this is as far as Aurora could take us. Using the portal drained a great deal of her power, especially since we traveled such a long distance from New Arcadia.”
While warriors assisted King Arthur into the castle, another man catered to his needs; he gave the warriors instructions before turning in their direction.
“Alpha Theo, we are glad you all made it back,” the man said.
Dunken, Rollin, Jacob, Caroline, and Baron traveled with them. Aurora’s assistant witches remained in New Arcadia, hiding with the other locals in Blackpelt Ridge’s secret cave. Aurora said she would be back for the rest in a few days.
“Beta, Ivor.” Theo extended his hand to the man who catered to the king. He asked, “Have you heard from Brody?”
“Yes, I was on the phone with him last night. He said that the creature in Ian’s arm had been removed,” the man whom Theo called Beta Ivor said.
“Did you hear that Gwen, our son is safe,” Theo told Gwen. He held both her hands and suggested, “Let’s rest for a bit. Get some clean clothes before heading out to Port Leon.”
“We are so glad that you are back, Luna Gwen. Your son has been asking for you. Of course, your patients have also been looking for you, but they all understand the situation,” Beta Ivor said with a smile.
“Gwen, Ivor is King Arthur’s beta,” Theo introduced. His words confused Ivor. Theo explained, “Gwen has a temporary memory loss, but I’m confident once she sees the children, she will remember faster.”
“Oh.” Ivor’s brows creased. He said, “I hope Luna Gwen remembers soon. You are the great miracle doctor of Alfar.”
“I am?” Gwen forced a smile and said, “I - I hope so too.”
Since arriving in Northern Alfar’s Dradhold Castle, Gwen only received looks of admiration and respect. From the guards to the maids, they all knew her. She wondered if she was that important to King Arthur.
Later, she discovered she had cured King Arthur of his illness and helped unite him with his brother in the South. That was how she became a valued person in the country.
After bathing and changing into new clothes, their party left for Port Leon. They rode in two cars. Theo, Baron, and Dunken accompanied Gwen while Caroline, Jacob, and Rollin were in the other vehicle.
It was finally on the road that Gwen rested her eyes. She had comfortably leaned on Theo’s shoulder, and she felt so at home with his arm around her.
Hours later.
“Gwen, we have arrived,” Theo said in a whisper.
Gwen fluttered her eyes open to the darkness around her. “What - what time is it?”
“It’s midnight,” Theo said. “Dunken and Rollin drove as fast as they could. We are at Port Leon’s packhouse.”
Theo guided her out of the car, and as soon as she stood by the packhouse, two figures stepped out the door. One was an older woman with golden hair like hers. She hugged Gwen and said, “Thank goodness you are back. Thank the Moon Goddess for your competent husband and for keeping you safe.”
The woman kissed her cheeks, and instantly, Gwen cried. She embraced the woman because she felt their familial bond was so strong. She could feel it in her heart and in her blood.
“I heard about you losing your memory. The woman leaned back. She cupped Gwen’s face and said, “Don’t worry. We will figure out what’s wrong with you. You can heal yourself, so I think it’s just a matter of time until you remember.”
“I’m Juliet, your mother,” the woman said with a smile.
‘Well, no wonder I felt that way. She is my mother,’ Gwen mused. They also had similar features, which added as proof of their relationship.
“Mother,” Gwen muttered.
“And I’m your father, George,” the man beside Juliet said. He embraced Gwen and cried. “I knew Theo would find you.”
All the same, Gwen felt connected to George. There was no denying that he and Juliet were her parents. Baron eventually joined in the embrace, completing their family. As far as Gwen had been told, they were only a family of four.
“And thank the Goddess, Baron is safe. Theo is safe, Jacob, Caroline, Dunken, and Rollin too,” Juliet said while wiping her tears away.
“Ian and Lilac are asleep, but you should see them. It might help jog your memories,” George suggested to Gwen.
Gwen turned to Theo, and he urged her to do the same. When she glanced back at Baron and Jacob, they gave her a nod.
“Go, Gwen. I’m sure your children miss you,” Jacob said.
“We will be right here, Gwen,” Baron said.
Her parents tailed behind her when she and Theo first arrived at the young boy’s room. The second she entered, her heart skipped a beat.
Gwen quickly sat beside Ian and cupped his face. Instantly, all her hair stood up, and tears flooded her cheeks again. She claimed, “Mine! Mine!”
“Yes, Theo said behind her. He is definitely yours and ours,” Theo said.
Gwen did not need her memories to know this boy was her son. Immediately, she felt the love between them. If Ian was in Theo’s pack, then it certainly meant she had reconciled with him.
At that moment, memories suddenly flooded her mind.
There was an image of Gwen training Ian.
There was a memory of her singing Happy Birthday to Ian.
“Oh, my Goddess, thank you for bringing me back to my family,” Gwen said before breaking down completely. She hugged Ian and alerted the young boy.
“Mommy?” Ian called. “Mommy!”
Ian’s hands clutched Gwen tightly. He cried, “I was so scared I’d lose you forever, Mommy.”
“No.” Gwen shook her head. She kissed Ian’s cheeks and said, “I’m here, aren’t I? Your father saved me.”
Still weeping, Ian glanced at Theo, saying, “Thank you, Daddy.”
It took a while for Gwen to console her emotions, but later on, she dried her tears. Ian said, “Let’s go to Lilac, Mommy. Grandma is with her.”
They all made it to another room, where another older woman met her. The woman hugged Gwen and said, “I’m glad Theo found you. Lilac has been crying a lot since you were taken. It was really hard to soothe her.”
“This is my mother, Catherine,” Theo said. “Our parents cared for our children while we were gone.”
“And Mommy, that’s my sister, Lilac! Come!” Ian dragged Gwen to the crib, and as she stood there, watching the baby girl, her heart became filled with longing. She said, “Mine.”
