~ Gwen ~
Sniffing her tears away, Gwen kissed Lilac on the head. She said in a whisper, “My poor baby. I’m sorry I was gone too long.”
Her heart ached at the thought of having left her little ones. She had not yet regained her memories, but knowing Lilac and Ian were hers, Gwen could only imagine the pups’ longing for a mother.
It was already two in the morning, but Gwen was still awake. She, Theo, and Ian had moved into the master bedroom since it was spacious enough to accommodate the crib and, of course, Ian in the couple’s shared bed.
Ian had already fallen asleep, his arm wrapped around Gwen’s waist. Lilac was also in her arms. Lilac seemed fully aware of her mother’s previous absence that she held to Gwen’s thumb.
Lilac began suckling, and Gwen said, “Oh, she is hungry.”
“Do you still have milk? You used to breastfeed her,” Theo revealed.
Gwen touched her breasts, but there was no indication that she had milk. She felt regretful of not being able to provide for her baby. Theo, however, quickly made a bottle for Lilac. After giving it to Gwen, he said, “It’s okay. Perhaps whatever happened to you caused your milk production to be depleted.”
“If indeed they took a lot of blood from me, then yes,” Gwen said while feeding her daughter.
Suddenly, Gwen noticed Theo stiffened. As he sat next to Ian, his hands balled into fists. He said, “I wonder what other things Victoria and Theron had done to you. What if Theron had -”
“I don’t know, Theo. I don’t think so.” Gwen looked away, understanding what was on Theo’s mind. She said, “But when I woke up with no memory, Theron said that I had just been rescued, and he was impatient with me. He attempted to kiss me, but because I had no memory -”
“I’m going to fucking kill him,” Theo declared. “King Arthur and I had already agreed to go to war.”
“But Theo, that’s dangerous. I’m fine. I’m back. Do we need to risk your life?” Gwen said fearfully.
“You don’t understand, Gwen. Theron had been known to take women by force, not just within his nation but obviously from other countries too. New Arcadia is rich in gold, but he had neglected many of his people. Wealth is not distributed evenly.” Theo sighed and added, “More importantly, while Victoria is dead, the pharmaceutical company, ProVita Sciences, the same one responsible for spreading viruses and poisons, is still in business.”
“We suspected that Victoria might still have underlings running the company despite her death,” Theo concluded.
“Are you sure she is dead?” Gwen asked.
“I saw it with my own eyes,” Theo responded. “But don’t worry. We have made alliances with other nearby nations. They will back us up. A war against New Arcadia was already brewing the moment they had refused to cooperate with us in taking down ProVita Sciences. After all, the threat was coming from his territory.”
“Let me worry about that, Gwen. All you need to do is regain your health,” Theo urged.
Gwen reluctantly smiled at Theo. She was thankful but still worried about his and King Arthur’s decision to go to war with New Arcadia. She said, “Okay.”
In the next few minutes, Theo watched as Gwen fed Lilac. When She was done, Gwen carried Lilac against her chest. Theo moved closer, and Gwen immediately knew he wanted a kiss. Her face burned, but there was no more denying their connection. She allowed the kiss, and when they pulled away, Theo said, “You are so natural with them. I missed you, and I love you. I don’t expect you to say it back now, but I just want you to know that.”
“Thank you, Theo, for saving me and ensuring our children’s safety while I was away,” Gwen said, her eyes brimming with tears.
“Gwen, you made a bigger sacrifice. You exchanged your life for Ian’s, and because of that, I love you even more,” Theo said. He settled in, and soon, he fell asleep.
Gwen gazed at Theo’s handsome face for minutes as he slept, her heart fluttering with quiet joy. Though unsure if her memory would return, she felt certain she had a wonderful family.

A week passed.
“What is all this?” Gwen asked while chuckling in the car.
“It’s a surprise, Mommy!” Ian said.
Days had gone by. Gwen had received treatment at the hospital with Juliet’s blood transfused into her. Gwen’s blood levels have slowly normalized. Over time, fragments of her memories began to return. While some parts of her life remained unclear, Theo, Ian, and the Allards lovingly worked to help her piece them together.
That day, Theo took his wife to the community grounds for a big surprise. Gwen’s eyes were blindfolded. When they got out of the car, the pack members were excited and did not bother to hide their enthusiasm.
“Why are there so many people around? What’s going on, Theo?” Gwen asked while feeling her covered eyes.
Theo brought Gwen to the centermost part of the community grounds and said, “Are you ready?”
Gwen nodded, and Theo slowly removed her blindfold. He stood by her side, grinning as Gwen’s eyes widened in shock. Her mouth fell open when everyone greeted her, “Happy Birthday, Luna Gwen!”
There was an advantage of her temporary amnesia: Gwen had forgotten her birthday! So, she never suspected anything.
It wasn’t just the entire pack. Gwen’s parents were still present. Additionally, some of the previous pack members from the Lilac Pack came just to celebrate her birthday. King Arthur and Aurora also attended, plus one other king Gwen has yet to remember.
King Alexander stepped forward, carrying a box for Gwen. He said, “To the miracle healer, who had saved many lives in Alfar. I give you this gift.”
“Wait, I know you,” Gwen said. She looked like she was racking her brain, and after a second, she said, “You are a king of Southern Alfar! King Arthur’s brother!”
Everyone laughed at her reaction. It seemed so amusing how Gwen’s recollection made her so happy. She was even more moved when many of the pack members gave their best wishes for Gwen.
“On your special day, Luna, may your soul feel as fulfilled as the lives you touch. Your kindness is a gift, and today we celebrate you!” Brody greeted before giving Gwen a gift.
Catherine came forward next, saying, “To my daughter-in-law. I thank the Moon Goddess for your pure heart. You are an example to us because despite what we have done wrong, you forgave us and gave the Erharts an heir. I love you as my own daughter.”
“And I love you too.” Caroline stepped forward. With a smile, she added, “Thank you, Gwen, for giving Mother and me a chance. All of us -” Caroline looked back, and many of the pack members nodded in agreement. “We were blind not to see you as a blessing, but thank goodness you returned to us.”
“May the energy of the moon and the strength of the wolf within you grow ever stronger this year. You are a true light to us all,” Catherine added before she gave her gift to Gwen.
“Happy Birthday, Gwen. May your strength, wisdom, and grace continue to guide those around you. Wishing you endless joy and success on your special day,” King Arthur said.
Many words were said, but Theo knew the ones from Ian mattered most to Gwen. Their little pup made a charm bracelet for Gwen. He put it on her wrist and said, “To the best Mommy in the world. Thank you for giving me a great sister and a chance to have a Daddy. I will never forget the sacrifices you have made to keep me safe and alive today. I love you, Mommy.”
Gwen broke down in tears and hugged Ian. She kissed his cheeks repeatedly and said, “I love you too.”
The celebration for Gwen’s party ended late. Theo and Gwen were exhausted. However, it was worth it. Theo was glad to see Gwen smile and express words of appreciation to his entire pack.
Gone were the days when Port Leon was divided. Now, they all loved Gwen and his children. Gwen, likewise, had forgiven his people. They could now move on to living a happy life. The only thing standing in the way was the pending war against New Arcadia.
Another week passed, and the news spread quickly. To everyone’s surprise, the declaration of war came from King Theron. New Arcadia announced war against Northern Alfar, citing illegal incursions into their territory, resulting in damages.
What King Theron never expected was for four nations to go to war against him!
Northern Alfar, King Alexander announced its alliance with King Arthur, declaring war against New Arcadia. The leaders of Lupine Falls and Dunswick announced the same.
With this development, Theo was preparing to leave Port Leon again. He was named King Arthur’s general amongst Northern Alfar’s troops.
Theo decided to leave for the capital at dawn while the children were still asleep. Gwen embraced him tightly, and when she let go, she stared into his eyes, kissed his lips, and said, “Be safe. I love you, Theo.”
Tears brimmed in her eyes as she added, “With all my heart.”
Theo was taken aback. Softly, he asked, “Have - have you remembered everything?”
Gwen nodded and said, “Yes, everything.” She cupped his face and said, “Be sure to return home safe and sound.” She pressed her lips against his ear and resumed, “I want another baby.”
Hearing her words, Theo’s heart sprinted. He coughed against his fist, groaning, “Really, Gwen, you had to tell me this before leaving? Now, I don’t want to leave.”
Gwen chuckled and replied, “At least that will motivate you to win the war.”
Again, the couple embraced each other, this time sharing a heated kiss. When they pulled away, Theo claimed, “I’ll be back soon to make baby number three.”
