                    ~ Gwen ~
"It's time to leave," Baron, Gwen's brother, said.
Gwen put on several layers of clothes. It was still two in the morning and was cold outside the cave. Then, as a last touch, Baron gave her a set of contact lenses. He said, "From now on, outside our pack, you must hide your identity."
Accepting the contact lenses, Gwen gulped. She watched as Baron and the Gamma, Jacob, also concealed their purple eyes with contact lenses. After that, they stared at her, waiting for her to do the same.
Baron had to teach Gwen how to wear contact lenses, but eventually, she did it herself.
"It's uncomfortable, but you'll get the hang of it eventually," Baron said.
With their bags packed, they left the cave with only a tiny lamp guiding them. They had made it several meters from the cave when Gwen stopped in her tracks. She said, "I - I have to say goodbye to someone."
Baron looked back and frowned. He said, "No. It's too dangerous."
Gwen hesitated, but the fact that she was not able to attend Agatha's burial left her with discomfort. She said, "I have to say goodbye to the woman who saved me, please."
"You mean the elder?" Jacob asked.
"Gwen, are you asking us to return to your pack when we have already made it this far?" Baron said. "They will recognize an unfamiliar scent."
"There is an underground path that goes directly to the cemetery," Jacob suggested. "It was the same passage the rogues went through. The rogues won't be back, at least not now. It will be safe."
"Wait, the rogues got in through an underground passage?" Gwen asked. "We cannot let them use that in the future. We must destroy it, at least alert Port Leon about it."
Turning to Jacob, Gwen asked, "Lead the way, Jacob."
Gwen and Baron argued over her decision, but more than just the passage the rogues have created, she earnestly wanted to say goodbye to Agatha. Thankfully, she insisted on her plea, and Baron eventually agreed.
The cemetery was not heavily guarded for it was located outside, east of Port Leon. Plus, they went through an underground passage and entered the graveyard undetected.
Gwen eventually found Agatha's burial site. Before the elder's tomb, she kneeled and felt the ground with her hand. She said, "Agatha, your prophecy has come true. I have become pregnant, but Theo doesn't believe the baby is his. His hatred towards me is so heavy that he refused to see the truth."
She thought about it. Even if she told Theo she wasn't Lucius' daughter, there was still the issue of him believing she had cheated on him.
"I'm leaving," Gwen said. "I can't stay here anymore. I've endured the pain for too long. I needed to find my happiness. Even if Theo turned out to be my fated mate, it would never work. He will never believe me. His family will never believe me, and the pack will continue to hate me. I don't want to be... that unloved luna anymore."
Gwen felt a weight pressing on her chest as she said with tears, "I came to thank you, Agatha, for saving my life, making me live this far longer to meet my brother."
"In your vision, I don't know how I am supposed to fulfill your prophecy, but I'm afraid it's not happening," Gwen added. "Goodbye, Agatha."
"I sense someone," Baron said before letting out a low growl. "We need to leave."
"Wait." Gwen looked around and, after finding a stick, she wrote on the ground: The rogues made an underground passage under Tomb 64.
"The fuck, let's go!" Baron ordered, and they all rushed into Tomb 64 and fled.
As they navigated the underground passage, Gwen did not miss the familiar voice calling her name, "Gwen! Gwen, is that you?"
Gwen stopped upon hearing Theo's voice. She turned for a moment, but Baron reminded her, "Theo wanted to reject you, remember! He accused you of cheating! He was planning to exile you and let you live as a rogue! Gwen, let's go!"
With that, Gwen sucked in a deep breath and ran as fast as she could. In her head, she said, 'Goodbye, Theo.'
~ Theo ~
Theo couldn't sleep after discovering that Gwen was the mysterious woman who had helped them in the dungeons. He stepped out of the packhouse with an emotional weight. Because of the uneasiness in his chest, he decided to run for it at five in the morning.
He ran in his human form, and when he reached the east border, he ran in his wolf form.
Gwen's face kept permeating his mind. He saw Gwen when she tried to prepare breakfast for him. He saw Gwen during their intimate moments, and of course, the most notable one was how she said goodbye before the rogue threw her into the water.
'Theo, I'm sorry for everything my father has done. I hope my death will be the end of all the hate living in your heart. Live, Theo, and be happy.'
"Ahh!" Theo screamed as he sped his steps. In anger, he suddenly shifted into his human form and punched the nearest pine he could see. "But why? Why did you sleep with another man if you say you loved me!"
"Ahh!" He punched the tree over and over again, not minding how his knuckles had bled.
Just as he was letting out his steam, he suddenly smelled a familiar scent. His heart quickly raced, and Gwen's face came into his mind.
Gwen smelled of sweet Lilac, a scent very distinct only to her.
Theo looked around frantically. He sniffed and sniffed before calling her name, "Gwen! Gwen, is that you?"
He ran and followed the scent. It led him to the cemetery. He ran past Agatha's grave because the smell of Lilac was more prominent in the other direction.
In his head, he linked with his warriors, saying, 'I need men to scout the grave! Faster!'
'Yes, Alpha!' His warriors by the east border replied.
Theo ran around the cemetery, but he couldn't find Gwen! The trail ended in Tomb 64. He couldn't fathom it, but his head was in such a mess that he never considered a passage underneath it!
It was only after an hour since his men arrived that Brody pointed out, "Alpha, there is a writing in Agatha's grave."
Theo rushed to see what it was, and the second he read the message, he returned to Tomb 64 and removed the tombstone!
A hole had been dug beneath the tomb, revealing a passage underground. Theo's blood boiled with anger at the thought of the rogues tunneling a passage into their pack's border.
Without thinking, Theo jumped into the passage and followed the trail. It ended nearly a kilometer away, but no matter how he searched, Gwen's scent was already gone. Theo felt it, though. He sensed his heart going wild as if his wolf had noticed Gwen's presence.
Theo had found himself in the middle of the road, several meters from the end of the underground path. He took deep breaths as he looked around the empty highway. He asked, "Gwen, are you alive?"
Hours later, Brody returned to the packhouse to report the progress of their search. He told Theo, "We found fresh disturbance on the ground, a pair of three footprints, but we did not find any traces of Gwen."
Theo massaged his temples. He replied, "Okay. You may leave."
When he was all alone, Theo turned to the belongings that Gwen had left behind. He stood up and grabbed the bag she was carrying with her on the day of the rejection ceremony. Theo had given this to Gwen so that she could pack her clothes. He recalled how she almost did not bring it with her.
Theo searched the bag and found what he was looking for. Inside a secret pocket was a new identification that he had made for Gwen so that she could start a new life. She had a new passport and an ATM under a new name. Theo had also prepared a small amount of cash for her journey. The warriors assigned to bring her out of the border were supposed to tell Gwen about her new identity. Sadly, she never made it out due to the rogue attack.
After staring at the documents, Theo stuffed them back into the bag. He looked out the window and asked, "If she is out there, how can she survive?"
Despite Gwen's betrayal, Theo concluded, "I have to find her. I have to."
