Gwen’s breathing hitched as she rested Ian’s picture on her chest. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over and streaming down her cheeks as she sank into the airplane’s seat, her heart heavy with fear and despair.
Every thought of her child, alone and scared, made her chest tighten painfully, and she couldn’t stop the flood of emotions from overwhelming her.
“Just right now, I feel his fears.” Gwen carelessly wiped the tears on her face as she pleaded, “Moon Goddess, please keep my Ian safe. He is my life, my love. I can’t live without him.”
Baron grabbed her hand and squeezed it tightly. He said, “You can feel him, right? He is a smart pup. He’ll make it through this, and we will find him.”
Gwen nodded before she sobbed again. Under her breath, she said, “I can’t help it. I’m so afraid for Ian.”
Baron put his arm around Gwen. He responded, “I understand. We are all worried for him. I promise we will find him.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We are now ready for departure,” the pilot announced.
Gwen, Baron, and Jacob were on a private plane heading to Stormreach, the fifth-largest city of Northern Alfar, which had a private runaway. According to the jet company, the flight that carried Ian landed in the local town.
Four of Alexander’s warriors came with them on that trip to help recover Ian. Naturally, Dradhold Castle was informed, but Gwen was uncertain whether King Arthur himself knew. For sure, Beta Ivor was told. He had confirmed that a few warriors within Stormreach Pack were assigned to accommodate and assist them in the search.
“We are going to Ian now,” Baron assured Gwen. “And we are going to save him.”
As the plane took off, Gwen stared out the window. She imagined seeing Ian, and she said, “Stay strong, Ian. Mommy loves you. Mommy will save you.”

“Alpha, our allied pack, The Silver Creek Pack, had reported seeing rogues in their borders. Shall we drop by to inspect?” Brody asked.
The Silver Creek Pack was one of the small packs that sought Theo’s protection a year ago. Because of their poor fighting skills, they were constantly being robbed. Although Theo had already assisted in strengthening their training, The Silver Creek Alpha had agreed to report any rogue sightings to Theo.
Theo and a few of his warriors had visited the Moonshadow Pack for a special occasion. They were on their way home when Brody received the call.
“To the Silver Creek Pack,” Theo commanded in the backseat of the car, and Brody stepped on the gas. His caravan of warriors followed behind them.
Theo thought about heading home first, but he remembered Madison’s desperate attempt to seduce him. So, he would rather fight rogues than be home early that day.
Since Theo proposed to Madison, she had been flirting with him constantly. Despite his resolve to move on from Gwen, he still couldn’t bring himself to desire another woman.
Oh, boy, did Theo try. With the Goddess as his witness, he tried to be intimate with Madison. He knew it would be part of the responsibilities he would need to fulfill as a future husband, but he found it incredibly repulsing!
‘Was it the work of the mate bond?’ Theo wondered silently. ‘But if that is so, how can Gwen be with another man?’
‘Fuck, I’m thinking about Gwen again,’ Theo scolded himself.
To get his mind off Gwen, he opened his laptop and reviewed the incoming ships docking in the next few days. As they continued on the road, he gave his Beta instructions, “This Thalor Shipping line has yet to give a full list of their employees and identification. If they continue to delay, refuse entry to the port.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Brody responded.
“The Oceanic Star Lines’ safety certificate is expired,” Theo noted. “Deny entry.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Brody confirmed.
Theo went on and on until he finished the list. By the time he was done, their cars had arrived at the borders of the Silver Creek Pack. Their alpha, Vander, met them at the gates.
Alpha Vander and Theo patrolled the borders of the Silver Creek Pack territory, their warriors trailing closely behind.
“My scouts noticed disturbances behind our greenhouses. Just this morning, one of my warriors’ bags was stolen from the creek,” Alpha Vander conveyed.
The Silver Creek Pack was in the business of growing and reselling plants of all kinds, so thick vegetation was customary on their lands. Sadly, it was also a good hiding place for criminals like rogues.
“Let’s keep checking,” Theo proposed.
They wandered off, several yards away from the pack, following the creek until noticing smoke from afar.
“There are people,” Alpha Vander remarked.
Theo took a big whiff of the surrounding air and declared, “Rogues, many of them.” He turned to the warriors and instructed, “Spread around them.”
It did not take long for them to find the group of rogues. They were roasting meat, and its strong scent allowed Theo to go unnoticed.
‘Seven - no, eight rogues. One just walked up from the creek,’ Brody mindlinked with Theo. His beta was on the other side of the rogue’s makeshift camp.
‘There’s a child inside the tent, Theo! He’s blindfolded and gagged! They’ve kidnapped a child!’ Brody exclaimed.
The news instantly made Theo’s blood boil. He barked through mindlink, ‘Attack! Secure the child!’
As soon as Theo’s men revealed themselves, a fight broke out. Theo did not hesitate to join in the battle. He primarily ran towards the tent, and along with Brody, he protected the child inside.
Theo and Brody quickly stood before three rogues, who looked determined to get the child. One said, “Leave the child to us, and we will go!”
“No! The child stays here!” Theo declared. He shifted into his black wolf and assailed. Likewise, the rogues transformed into their werewolf form and attempted to counter Theo and Brody’s attacks.
Theo lunged at the red-brown-coated werewolf, slamming him to the ground. He raked his elongated claws across the rogue’s flank, inflicting severe wounds.
The rogue howled in agony, but Theo continued his assault until the opponent was completely immobilized. Only then did Theo move on to another opponent.
As Theo circled a brindled rogue, he noticed Alpha Vander struggling against two adversaries. Acting swiftly, Theo dispatched his opponent with a decisive frontal assault, sinking his fangs into the rogue’s neck. He then rushed to Alpha Vander’s aid, and within moments, the sounds of the battle faded away.
Theo looked around and established that his warriors had won all the fights. Gamma Rollin was wounded, but nonetheless, they were all alive, able to stand and walk.
Suddenly, Theo noticed a small frame running into the bushes. He realized it was the boy!
“Hey, stop! Stop!” Theo ran in the child’s direction. He was the closest one and was able to capture the pup in his human form. “Stop! Don’t run! We’re not here to hurt you! We saved you!”
The child’s mouth was still covered, and so were his eyes. With his hands behind his back, he ran blindly, clearly hoping to find safety.
“Mmmm! Mmm!” The pup’s cries were suppressed by the cloth gagging his mouth.
Theo’s heart ached at the thought of what the pup had endured. He could sense the child’s fear and longing for his family. Without thinking, Theo wrapped him in a comforting embrace and gently assured the boy, “You’re safe now. I promise, you’re safe. My name is Alpha Theo Erhart, and I will bring you back to your family. Do you understand?”
The poor child’s body shook from the strength of his sobs, but after Theo’s words, he nodded and slowly relaxed.
Theo rubbed the body’s head and back, saying, “That’s it. That’s it. I’m going to free you, okay? And then, you are going to tell me your name.”
The boy nodded again, sniffing his tears away.
Theo peeled off from the pup. He untied the boy’s hands and removed the covering over his mouth. Lastly, he removed his blindfold.
When the boy opened his eyes, Theo could not help but stare into his green orbs.
‘They look like mine,’ he thought.
Having a clearer view of the child, Theo’s heart skipped a beat. With his eyes rounding, the wolf in him cried, “Mine. Mine!”
