                    ~ Gwen ~
“You weren’t complaining when you were groping me, Gwen.”
Gwen was overwhelmed with shame as the truth was clear. Her hands did, in fact, rest on Theo’s muscles the moment she woke up. While dreaming of a faceless man, she had been touching Theo all along!
Heat crawled up to her face as she explained, “I was dreaming, Theo! I did not know what I was doing. Wait, how did I end up next to you in the first place?”
“Mommy?” Ian suddenly called by the bathroom door. “Are you fighting again?”
Theo was still on top of Gwen when they turned to Ian, but they quickly pulled away from each other. Gwen panted as she took deep breaths. She gulped and answered, “We - Un. I had a dream, and I talked to your father about it - where have you been?”
“I was in the bathroom, doing my business,” Ian answered.
“How long were you there?” Gwen inquired.
“A bit long,” Ian replied innocently. “Mommy, what time did you arrive? Daddy had to put me to sleep.”
“Sorry, honey, I had to meet with an old acquaintance,” Gwen quickly explained. She glanced at Theo, who was calmly adjusting his clothes, his eyes fixed on her, silently reminding her that their conversation about her touching him wasn’t finished.
“Well, let’s have breakfast,” Theo said. He smiled at Ian and added, “And prepare for a picnic lunch.”
“Yes, I’m excited for that!” Ian exclaimed.
Theo went to his room next to get ready. It allowed Gwen to calm her emotions, especially after touching Theo in that manner. Naturally, her heart was fluttering over their closeness earlier, but again, it was a feeling that Gwen was trying to run away from. She said in her head, ‘I can’t stay in the same room as Theo. It’s too dangerous.’
Gwen was determined to build a thicker wall around her heart, not wanting to have Theo affect her. However, the picnic stirred emotions within her again.
Theo had taken them to Port Leon’s Hill Park, known for its good hiking trail and an even plateau on top of its peak. It had a perfect view of the Port, and its grass was evenly green. While it was sunny, there were enough trees to create a shade of protection over their frames.
Gwen witnessed the special bond between father and son firsthand. She watched Ian riding on Theo’s black wolf, and swore to the goddess that the sight was magnificent.
“Mommy, look! Look at me! Haha!” Ian called. When Theo sped his run, the pup was quick to hold on to Theo’s furred neck. The smile on Ian’s face couldn’t be contained, and his eyes gleamed with excitement.
The scene that probably pulled her heartstrings was when Theo slowly let Ian climb down from his back and land on the grass. Then, Theo’s wolf licked Ian’s face, making the pup laugh again.
“It’s ticklish, Daddy,” Ian remarked while holding his father’s snout. “Haha.”
Gwen was sitting on the picnic blanket, setting the food for lunch, but while her hands were busy, her eyes never left Theo and Ian. She could not help but be jealous of how quickly the two became close. At the same time, she was happy for her son.
She sighed, feeling guilty about her plan of taking Ian away from her father. Just as she was feeling regretful, the view before her suddenly changed.
Ian walked towards her, and Theo shifted into his godly-looking human form!
Her eyes rounded, and her skin crawled in delight!
Theo had always been attractive, from his face down to every muscle on his body, but Gwen had to admit that Theo was now more prominent. His chest was broader, his biceps were bigger, and his waist was leaner.
Yes, Gwen had studied Theo from his face down to his narrow waist, and because he was naked, she naturally saw his snake. When she locked eyes with him, she swore his manhood twitched, causing her face to burn both in irritation and shame.
“Urggh,” Gwen grumbled as she looked away.
Theo was quick to catch on, saying, “Not my fault. You looked at me.”
Gwen quickly searched for Theo’s clothes. When she found a pair of pants and a T-shirt, she threw them at him, saying, “Put on some clothes!”
“I am an alpha werewolf. It’s my business to walk around naked,” Theo declared. “Do you have a problem with that, Gwen?”
“Yeah, Mommy, don’t Uncle and Grandpa walk around naked after shifting?” Ian asked.
While it was true that werewolves were used to seeing their naked bodies after shifting, it was different with Theo! The mate bond was messing with her mind and igniting things that should not be there!
Without giving it much thought, Gwen retorted, glaring at Theo, “How would you feel if I stood before you naked?”
A smirk formed on Theo’s face. He said, “I’d like to see that.”
When Gwen rolled her eyes, however, Theo lazily put on his pants. At least he covered his primary asset, but he still flaunted his well-defined upper body even then.
They had a peaceful lunch next.
Ian was so overjoyed about how his family came together that he often placed food on Theo and Gwen’s plates. Sometimes, he would just stand up and hug Theo and do the same to Gwen.
The pup expressed, “I’m so happy. I wish grandma and grandpa were here too.”
It was then that Gwen understood how she would break her son’s heart if they left Port Leon prematurely. What in the world was she going to do now?
Surprisingly, Brody turned up after they had eaten their meal. Theo’s beta showed Ian his wolf this time, and the pup was again amazed.
“Wow, I like your fur, Uncle!” Ian exclaimed, and that was because the beta did have an excellent reddish brown coating.
Brody walked Ian around, and Gwen understood that Theo planned to have a private time with her. While sitting on the picnic blanket, Theo suddenly said, “I heard about your visit to Lucius’ former pack. I never really looked closely into his financial history. I did not consider how it would be relevant to your identity, but I’ll look deeper this time. Don’t worry, I’ll find answers.”
Gwen was surprised. Did she want to know? Of course, she did! She was curious how she had made it all the way to Northern Alfar when she was a baby. So, instead of objecting, Gwen softly said, “I don’t know if it’s really relevant. My family isn’t rich enough to give a ransom money worth Lucius’ time -”
“So, you were kidnapped?” Theo asked.
Gwen groaned again, but she supposed she could give Theo some truth this time. She nodded, saying, “Yes. I was taken as a baby.”
“So that means whoever took you as a baby probably is,” Theo suggested. “And Lucius could simply be someone who was tasked to look after you all those years.”
When Theo said that, Gwen gasped. She hadn’t considered that possibility. Gwen thought about how her family’s pack was attacked during her kidnapping, and her family’s secrets. She silently wondered, ‘Could I have been taken by someone more powerful than Lucius? And could it be related to her lineage’s secret ability?’
Fear crawled up to her heart because it was possible that there was another enemy out there that she and her family were unaware of.
Before Gwen could react, though, Theo’s gaze landed on her arm. He frowned and asked, “When did you get a tattoo?”
Gwen looked down at her moonstone blade mark. In the previous days, she had worn a sleeve or a jacket that covered her forearm, so Theo had missed the unique mark on her. She gulped and answered, “A long time now.”
