"Mother, I brought Ian here so you can have a moment with him. He and Gwen are leaving this Tuesday." Theo turned to his sister, Caroline, and then back to his mother, saying, "Gwen is concerned that Ian has missed many school days, so I finally agreed to let them leave."
Theo had already discussed this with Ian in the car. He made him understand that he needed time to clarify his people's misunderstanding of Gwen. Naturally, Ian was sad, but Theo could tell the pup loved his mother and knew what was best for them.
"Hi, Grandma," Ian greeted. He took out a piece of paper he had made into a small card that morning and gave it to Catherine Erhart. "I heard you are not feeling well. This is for you."
Catherine stared blankly at Ian, clearly still amazed at the pup's resemblance to Theo. She gulped as she accepted the paper and read it. She faintly smiled and answered, "Thank you, Ian."
After that, Catherine began sniffing Ian intensely.
Theo had to ask, 'Does that clear your doubt? He is my son, Mother?'
Catherine looked regretful as she pulled away from Ian, but she did not get a chance to respond because the pup said, "Mommy is a doctor. When I'm sick, she always tells me to drink a lot of water and take vitamins and supplements."
Ian pointed at the paper and said, "I wrote there the things that you could drink to make you feel better."
"Um - Ian, there are some cookies that the maids had prepared for your arrival." Catherine pointed to the distant nook table. "Why don't you have some? I'd like to have a word with your father."
For seconds, they all stared at Ian as he slowly made his way to the table. He politely greeted the maid who served the cookies and ate a few. He said, "They are delicious. Thank you!"
"He looked so much like you when you were a pup," Catherine remarked. Her eyes were on Ian, but her words were addressed to Theo. "So, they are leaving, huh?"
Catherine glanced at Caroline, who had a complicated expression. She was settled on another sofa across from Catherine and Theo.
"So, what will happen now?" Catherine asked.
Theo hesitated but soon answered, "The plan is for me to visit Ian in Cada City, where Gwen now lives and works."
"So, Ian won't be here?" Catherine asked with a brow raised.
"No, not until the people here will realize that Gwen is not to be blamed for Lucius' sins," Theo said, eyeing his sister.
"Theo, you have to understand your sister, and your pack," Catherine proposed. "If what you are saying is true that Gwen is not Lucius' daughter, you need to prove it. Gwen needs to prove -"
"She doesn't need to prove anything. She doesn't want to be part of Port Leon. Why do you think she has not returned after so many years? If it were not for Ian getting kidnapped and brought to Northern Alfar, Gwen would not come here. She is happy now, living in Southern Alfar," Theo responded.
"She is just making you think that way, Theo," Caroline suggested.
"Caroline, I'm trying to understand you because I am your brother. I used to think like you in the past, but it has been so long." Theo said, "Please look into your heart and question, what has Gwen ever done to you?"
"Your mate bond is clouding your judgment," Caroline implied. "Do you know the best answer to this problem, Theo? Reject her -"
"No!" Theo firmly said, trying to hold his anger. "I want to be with Gwen. I crave it, both my heart and soul. That is why I want you all to try. I will give you all time to try."
"If my warriors can accept Gwen, you can too," Theo added. "You both are my family and should be the first to wish for my happiness!"
When neither of them answered immediately, Theo said, "Let's start by getting to know Ian."
During the remainder of Theo's visit, he encouraged Catherine to bond with Ian. However, unlike his usual cheerful demeanor, Ian was initially reserved and cautious around her. It was Catherine who led most of the conversation.
In contrast, Caroline frequently retreated to her room, avoiding opportunities to connect with Ian.
After lunch, they all moved to Catherine's backyard. From there, Catherine asked the pup, "So, let me get this straight, Ian. You like running and learning how to fight."
"Yes! My uncle and grandpa taught me everything I know," Ian shared. He had gone past the awkward moment with Theo's mother and was starting to smile during the conversation.
'So, he does have a family in Sourthern Alfar?' Catherine linked with Theo.
'Yes, mother, he does. They are Gwen's real parents,' Theo said. He smiled at Ian and asked, "Why don't you show your grandmother how fast you can run, Ian?"
Ian hesitated but soon said, "Sure, Daddy!"
He hopped out of the backyard's balcony and suddenly ran with all his might.
"Oh, My goddess! He can run!" Catherine exclaimed.
"And he is pretty strong too, Mom, for his age," Theo revealed. He joined Ian and urged his son to show Catherine a few moves, and the pup was happy to do so.
"Hiya! Hiya!" Ian eagerly simulated various kicks and punches. He suddenly did a backflip, which surprised Catherine too.
Theo could tell that at the end of their visit, his mother had warmed up to Ian. While the pup was exploring the backyard, Catherine remarked, "He seems like an incredible boy. Agatha's prophecy might actually be true."
"Agatha was right about Lucius, Mother. Chances are, she was right about Gwen too," Theo proposed. "Ian is a great and talented pup. I hope you can help me with Caroline because if she and her group continue to oppose Gwen, she will never want to stay here in Port Leon with me."
Catherine stilled. Before she could answer, Ian ran back up to them. He held a stem of wildflowers and said, "Here, Grandma, I hope you like these. These are for you."
"Thank you, Ian," Catherine accepted the flowers with a smile.
Suddenly, Ian said, "My Mommy is a good person. She would never hurt anyone. Back in Cada, many people love her. She is a great doctor. I hope one day, you'll like my Mommy too."
Catherine appeared taken aback by Ian's request. She did not answer but smiled and offered, "There are still extra cookies. Would you like me to pack them for you?"

Meanwhile, a group of rogues have gathered in a secluded area outside of Port Leon.
The leader of the group received news from his colleague. "Alpha Theo has arranged a flight going to Southern Alfar. It looks like the doctor is finally leaving."
"Good," the leader said. "Prepare to attack. And since it's Alpha Theo, let's use the poison. We can't take any chances with him and his men. It's either we kill the doctor or take the kid. Those are the orders, and we cannot fail."
