Theo was done respecting Madison. He had tried to understand her feelings, but enough was enough.
Madison was trying to ruin Theo's chances to be with Gwen. So, he wouldn't save her, not now that she had brought her aunt to sway the king in her favor and arrange for her to be Port Leon's luna.
When Madison pointed out that Gwen brought trouble to the pack, King Arthur was angered. As the alpha, it was his duty to condemn Madison, but there was no greater way to reprimand someone than facing the king's judgment directly. Thus, Theo allowed Madison to receive the ultimate humiliation from the king himself.
"You have no idea what you are talking about!" the king screamed. From behind Arthur, Theo saw the king's body become tense. His hands balled into fists as he questioned, "Aren't you supposed to be an educated woman? How dare you throw baseless accusations!"
"Wh - what did I say wrong, My King?" Madison stuttered as she replied. "I was just talking about how Gwen invited rogues to our pack -"
"Do you want to know why the Rogues are after Doctor Weneth?" the king asked through gritted teeth. He stared at everyone in the ballroom and revealed, "Because Gwen risked her life and that her son to help me!"
The tension in the room escalated after Arthur's outburst. Theo glanced at Caroline, and from the look on her face, he could tell she realized she was also in trouble.
Madison's aunt was the only one who remained confident enough to ask, "My King. How is that so? Can you elaborate?"
"I had already said that the doctor was treating me, and we would have another set of treatments if not for someone threatening her life!" Arthur announced. "This means someone out there wants me dead. They probably think that the best way to ensure my death is by hurting Doctor Weneth and taking her child."
"Can't you see? Doctor Weneth is a good person. She sacrificed her comfort and safety for your king - YOUR KING!" Arthur strengthened his voice. "I'm not even her king - My brother is."
"But she was willing to help me," Arthur added. "So, I have much gratitude for Doctor Weneth. Even if she is Lucius' daughter, it doesn't matter to me. Clearly, her heart is good -"
"But, My King, Gwen is not Lucius' daughter," Theo finally interjected.
The king turned to Theo, perplexed. He leaned to Gwen, saying, "Now, I know there are some complications in your identity, but what is exactly going on, Doctor? Are you not Lucius' daughter?"
"She is Lucius' daughter, Your Highness," Madison insisted. "She tried to deny it, but claiming a brother -"
Madison pointed to Baron, saying, "Gwen said that the proof of their relationship is through their eye color."
The king remained focused on Gwen; he said, "I wasn't going to comment on your new eye color. It's the least of my concerns, but tell, Doctor."
"Go ahead, Gwen," Theo encouraged.
"Okay, Your Highness," Gwen answered. "I am not Lucius' daughter. Baron is indeed my brother. He saved me from the rogue attack in Port Leon over six years ago. He had been looking for me since I was taken as a baby from my pack in Southern Alfar. Then, he took me back."
"I was pregnant when I left your nation," Gwen revealed. "I met my family, my real mother and father."
"But, King Arthur, how do we know she is not lying?" Melissa, Madison's aunt, asked.
Arthur frowned. He asked Melissa, "Does it really matter? I have attested that she is the miracle doctor of Southern Alfar. I have told you the reason why the rogues were after her. Why do you still need to question who her real parents are?"
"Even if she is Lucius' daughter, I think we have already established that his sins are not hers," the king added.
"So," Arthur said. "Going back to Theo and his luna. Let him be free to choose his fated. Nowadays, finding one's true mate is rare, so I, for one, encourage Theo's plan to pursue the doctor."
"I'm very sorry, Madison, but a Luna should be compassionate and open-minded, qualities which I do not see in you, especially in how you acted today," the king said through gritted teeth. He turned to Theo and ordered, "Send this woman to lockup for talking back to the king."
While Madison gasped in horror, Theo answered, "Yes, My King."
"As for you?" Arthur's eyes formed slits as he stared at Melissa. He declared, "You are fired! You are as judgemental as your niece!"
Melissa, who had been trembling in her stance since the king ordered Madison to be punished, begged, "My King. My apologies -I - I was wrong - I only wanted the best for Port Leon."
"So you know better than the alpha of Port Leon?" Arthur questioned.
"No, it's not what I mean," Melissa added.
"As you all can see, the king favors Gwen not only because we are fated but also because of her outstanding qualities as a miracle doctor!" Theo declared. "So, to the few here in the room that continues to harbor hate towards Gwen, this is the time to get over it!"
"Many years have passed!" Theo declared. "It's time for us to move on because I swear to the Moon Goddess above I will choose Gwen and my son over you! And as needed, I will remove you from my pack!"
"But what if, Alpha, we can prove that, indeed, Gwen is not Lucius' daughter? Wouldn't that be better?" A voice suddenly echoed behind the crowd of guests. Everyone turned to the double doors and found Beta Brody.
"Brody? What brings you here?" Theo asked. "Aren't you supposed to be on watch at the main entrance of the pack?"
"I was, Alpha," Brody answered with a smile. "Until new visitors have arrived. I had to escort them here."
"New visitors?" Theo asked, utterly puzzled. "We were not expecting anybody. How could you let anyone in without telling me?"
"The new visitors are not someone to be undervalued, Alpha," Brody answered.
"Well, Beta," the king addressed Brody. "How does the new visitor prove Gwen's identity?"
Theo glanced at Gwen, and she was equally confused. In a split second, however, recognition dawned on her. She said, "Theo, I think my -"
"King Alexander from Southern Alfar has arrived with his royal guards and Gwen's parents, Juliet and George Allard," Brody revealed. From that moment on, more gasps and murmurs echoed in the room.
"Gwen's parents arrived with the king of Southern Alfar?" Caroline raised.
Madison and her aunt looked past Brody with an irritated look on their faces. Madison said, "No, this can't be."
While Theo's pack members expressed shock and amazement, he noticed King Arthur paled. He softly muttered, "Brother."
Theo's Beta gave way, and King Alexander Hazma walked in wearing his royal robe. His posture was naturally dominant. He stood tall with squared shoulders. He had almost the same features as King Arthur: caramel skin, slightly bearded, and brown eyes.
King Alexander's gaze was filled with longing as he looked at Arthur. With a warm greeting, he said, "It's good to see you again, Brother."
Then, two individuals followed behind the king's royal guards: a man and a woman. The man was tall, well-built, and had an alpha aura. The woman he was with had an equal dignity but with a softer, more nurturing energy. She had a motherly gaze, and tears welled in her eyes.
What caught Theo's attention was how the man and woman had purple eyes.
"Hello," the man said with an audible voice. "I am Alpha George Allard from the Lilac Pack of Southern Alfar, and this is my Luna, Juliet. We have come for our daughter, Gweneth Allard, and our grandson, Ian."
Yet again, jaws were dropping, and whispers echoed in the room.
"They have the same eyes."
"With the southern king supporting them, they couldn't be lying, right?"
"Grandma! Grandpa!" Suddenly, Ian screamed. He rushed out, squeezing his small body through Theo and Gwen's frame to run to his grandparents.
Then, Theo remembered what Gwen said about her father. He gulped, recalling how this man holding Ian would punch him in the face. In his mind, Theo hissed, 'Fuck. Gwen's father seems to have strong arms.'
