                    ~ Theo ~
The punches were nothing to Theo, but the heavy blows were George Allard’s sentiments over Gwen’s past sufferings.
George was right. He was supposed to be Gwen’s fated mate, yet he chose to abandon that destiny because of his hate for Lucius and because he chose not to believe her. It was even so much more regretful hearing it from Gwen’s father.
So after George left, Theo remained in the backyard in silence. Meanwhile, Gwen had ordered the maids to prepare healing herbs for her.
Theo had lingered on the ground for probably half an hour. He heard the sound of a car leaving, his beta mindlinking with him, ‘We are headed to the hotel.’
When Gwen came back, she said, “Let’s get you to your room, Theo.”
She offered her delicate hands to him—yes, the same woman he had abandoned more than six years ago, chose to help him after her father punished him. How good was Gwen’s heart? How could he not have seen it before?
Theo walked in silence as he lazily followed behind Gwen. She opened the door for him and said, “Wait here.”
He sat on the chair, drowning in regret and hating himself. Theo did not know how long he remained silent, but Gwen eventually returned with a basin of warm water. The healing herbs mixed in had turned the liquid greenish.
Gwen moved to wipe him down with a towel, but Theo seized the moment, pulling her into a tight embrace. Once again, he whispered an apology.
Holding her close, Theo clung to the hope that his emotions would somehow bridge the distance between them. His voice trembled as his final words barely escaped his lips, “You have to believe me. Please.”
“I believe you,” Gwen answered, surprising Theo.
Well, yes, Gwen had shown signs of trust in his efforts, but it wasn’t as heartfelt as this one. He could not help but ask, “Do you mean that?”
“Yes,” Gwen answered. “I’m not only seeing it, but I feel it.”
He was about to embrace Gwen again, but she stopped him, saying, “Let’s get you cleaned up first, okay? So I can help with your wounds.”
“Does that mean I can hold you again?” Theo asked, making a bargain.
“Theo,” Gwen lightly groaned, but he insisted.
“Please,” Theo begged.
“Okay.” Raising her palms, she said, “Just let me clean you up first.”
There weren’t any wounds on Theo’s body, but he had many on his face. Gwen carefully wiped his face, sometimes making a pained expression as she went from one cut to another.
Theo smiled at her and said, “I’m okay. The wounds are nothing. I will heal fast.”
“Yes, but some -” Gwen sniffed and said, “Some of these will scar -”
“Hey,” Theo cupped her face and asked, “Does it matter to you if my face will have many scars?”
“No, of course not,” Gwen replied, her words unfiltered, spoken with complete honesty and without hesitation.
“Then, it doesn’t matter to me,” Theo said.
He noticed Gwen hesitate. She looked down, and suddenly, she let out her fangs and bit her finger!
With blood coming out of her finger, she raised her arm, offering to him, “They say a fated mate’s blood can help one heal faster.”
She flushed after she said those words, which Theo found incredibly adorable.
Theo chuckled and replied, “Well, I could try it, but you know what works best?”
When Gwen frowned, he made it clear to her. He said, “If we - um… mark each other.”
“Theo, come on!” Gwen grumbled. She got up from her kneeling stance and continued to offer the blood on her finger.
He smiled and grabbed her hand. He tugged it closer to him and quickly sucked on the blood. When he pulled her finger out, he said, “You just - um.”
Theo looked down on the swell beneath his pants, saying, “You gave me a boner.”
“Oh, goddess, Theo,” Gwen groaned. She was complaining, but her face further flushed.
“Come here,” he said, drawing her by the arm. “You promised I could hold you.”
She did not say no, but she did not push him away either. So, Theo took the chance and embraced her again as he stood up from the chair. This time, he held her for as long as he could. He took in her scent, felt the softness of her hair, and repeatedly kissed her head.
They lingered in that embrace for over a minute, and Theo loved it. When they pulled away, they also took their time, almost like Gwen did not want to let him go either.
It was a special moment for Theo. He found himself stroking Gwen’s golden hair. He caressed her cheeks, and amazingly, Gwen did not push him away!
“Gwen,” he said under his breath.
She did not say anything, but her purple eyes flashed with emotions that reminded him of the old Gwen, the same woman who had once expressed her love for him. Because of that, he tested the waters.
Theo cupped her face before his hand rested on the back of her neck. He caught her gasping, but still the same; she did not move away, her eyes boring into his. He leaned in, and before he knew it, their lips met.
He kissed her once and then twice. Gwen did not respond, but she did not reject him either. So, Theo used both hands to hold her face and, yet again, savored her lips.
This time, Gwen kissed back.
Theo’s wolf was going wild inside of him! If he could only shift, his black wolf’s howls would reach the entire pack!
Gwen kissed him back!
At that moment, Theo’s heart pounded in his chest, a surge of anticipation coursing through him. A thrilling, electric charge ignited his senses, his desires intensifying as his body responded with undeniable longing.
Theo deepened the kiss, and Gwen eagerly responded in kind. As her hand gently slid around his neck, he loosened his hold on her face and neck, letting his arms naturally encircle her waist, pulling her closer.
His face still hurt like hell, but he did not care. He was finally kissing his fated mate, for real!
Soon, all Theo could hear were the sounds of their smacking lips, their moans, and gasps. Their tongues belatedly intertwined, and from then on, Theo wished they could do more than just kiss.
He grabbed Gwen’s waist and abruptly carried her weight.
“Theo -” Gwen called in surprise. He walked her to the bed and laid her gently, his eyes never leaving her beautiful face.
At first, he simply lay on top of her, caressing her cheek. Gwen did not speak either. She was merely taking deep breaths and watching him.
“Gwen,” Theo said. “I want you so badly.”
She opened her mouth, but no words came out. Her lips merely quivered, and her face further reddened.
Theo gulped and concluded, “Silence means yes.”
