                    ~ Gwen ~
“I -” Gwen gulped, feeling nervous. She bit her lip and averted his gaze, saying, “I am giving you a chance, but you have to promise not to hurt me again -”
“I won’t.” Theo rested his forehead against Gwen, saying, “I fucking won’t.”
He kissed her more, and she couldn’t speak because he was all over her face. She laughed and said, “Let me finish!”
She was silent for a moment before explaining her decision. She admitted, “When the rogues attacked us, and you pretended to be hurt, I also realized I still cared for you. The thought of losing you felt so devastating.”
“Then, I also realized that Ian needs you too, and I can sense your sincerity through our mate bond, but I am still not sure if Port Leon is best for us, Theo. I have a life in Southern Alfar and patients waiting for me to return.” Gwen looked at Theo earnestly, saying, “I guess we will have another talk about that one day, but for now, I’m taking my chances on you - on us.”
“I need you to be Ian’s father. I need your strength, protection, and comfort,” Gwen added. She wavered but resumed, “And maybe give Ian the home I couldn’t give alone.”
The look on Theo’s face was priceless. He seemed so relieved. His eyes flickered with emotions. He said, almost stuttering, “And I won’t let you down,”
He hugged her for minutes as if he never wanted to let go. “Thank you, Gwen. Thank you so much.”
Gwen could not also deny how great it felt to be in Theo’s arms. The tingles never left her. Her heart continued to flutter, and every second seemed new and exciting. Eventually, though, they needed to get out of bed.
Baron kept linking with Gwen, telling her that Ian would not stop crying. Their son probably knew his grandfather gave Theo a beating. They hurriedly bathed and got dressed. Gwen, especially, washed thoroughly to get Theo’s scent off her.
Just before leaving to fetch their son, Gwen grabbed Theo’s hand and said, “Theo, I - I need time to tell my parents and brother my decision about us. Do you mind keeping it to ourselves for now?”
When he did not answer, she begged, “Please.”
Theo nodded and asked, “Is that why you put on so much perfume?”
“Theo, please. You have to understand that my family disapproves of you. Please be patient. My brother can see that you are good to Ian. My parents will see that too, and it won’t be long before they see your efforts in correcting the past,” Gwen suggested.
He grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. He said, “I understand. Let’s go.”

“I’m so mad at Grandpa!” Ian declared, stomping his feet while in his pajamas.
“It’s not that bad, Ian. I’m all better now.” Theo frowned as he looked at himself in the mirror and realized his wounds were almost completely healed. In fact, some bruising had already faded. He remarked, “I’m healing faster than normal.”
Theo turned to Gwen. She was giving him a faint yet satisfying smile. She said, “It’s the mate bond’ blood. I’m telling you.”
A chuckle left Theo’s lips. He responded, “Could be that.”
They were in Theo’s room, getting ready for bed. On recent nights, the decision to sleep in the same room still had to undergo a debate, but that evening, it was different.
Theo sat on the chair and called Ian’s attention. He announced, “Starting today, your mommy will sleep with Daddy in his room. The other room will solely be yours. Of course, you are still welcome to stay with us.”
Ian’s eyes rounded. He looked at Gwen and asked, “Really, Mommy?”
Gwen’s face turned red. She looked away from Ian while answering, “Yes, Honey.”
“Well, I still want to stay with you guys,” Ian declared. “I want to sleep with my Mom and Dad!”
Theo ruffled Ian’s hair as he chuckled. He proposed, “Okay. We’d love to have you, but soon, you need to be more independent and sleep on your own. Maybe when you no longer have nightmares.”
Ian glanced back at Gwen and then to Theo. He asked, “Would that be better, Daddy?”
“Well, if you want to have another brother to play with, then yes,” Theo answered, a sly grin quickly formed on his face. But while he was delighted with the idea, a pillow flew in his direction.
“Theo!” Gwen scolded.
He caught the pillow, of course, and he laughed right afterward. On the other hand, Ian’s eyes sparkled. He said, “I want a brother or maybe a sister to protect!”
“I could sleep in my room now,” Ian suggested.
“No, it’s okay, Ian. You can stay with us,” Gwen said from the bed.
“Yes, I supposed it’s okay,” Theo also revealed. “Your mom and I already tried to make you a sibling earlier.”
He laughed, but Gwen glared at him. As for their son, he beamed and demanded, “Try harder, Daddy, Mommy! I want a brother or sister!”
Theo could further convince his son, but he decided not to be on his mate’s bad side. After all, he just got her back. He said, “Stay with us, Ian. Daddy needs you.”
Ian touched the cut on his brow. He pouted and said, “Okay, Daddy. If you drink Mommy’s blood. You’ll get better faster.”
Theo raised a brow, a bit confused at Ian. Then, Gwen said, “He meant the mate bond, remember?”
“Oh, Theo said. He motioned for the bed and suggested, “Let’s get some sleep.”
That night, Theo experienced the most restful sleep he had in a long time. He even felt himself smiling in his dreams, filled with the joy of having Gwen back in his arms. Everything seemed perfect—until morning arrived, and reality shifted once again.
Theo was having breakfast with Gwen and Ian when Brody suddenly mindlinked, “Theo! Rogues are attacking again!”
He left quickly after explaining to Gwen the situation.
Theo arrived at the eastern border of Port Leon. He expected to be in a fight, but he found out that the rogues left.
Brody reported, “I don’t know what happened, but Beta Ivor was also patrolling. At the same time, one of King Alexander’s men rushed to our aide. I think the rogues retreated after seeing either of them.”
“They probably realized Port Leon is more protected now,” the king’s beta said. “Since the king is here, of course, his safety is also my priority, which means I need to do my part in securing Port Leon.”
Brody handed a piece of paper to Theo, saying, “The rogues threw this at me during their initial attempt to cross Port Leon.”
The paper was wrinkled, and the note read: [We want only the doctor. Give her to us, and we will leave you in peace. If you continue to protect her. We will come back with more forces.]
Theo’s blood boiled upon reading the note. He crumpled the paper and barked, “How dare they. I will kill them first!”
~ Queen Hazel ~
In Borealis, Queen Hazel was visiting an establishment when one of her guards came to her and reported, “My Queen, your husband has left the castle.”
Hazel frowned. She asked, “Where has he gone to?”
“Based on what I have gathered, he went to Port Leon, but that’s not all, My Queen. We have also received reports that King Alexander is in Port Leon,” the guard said, shocking Hazel.
Her eyes widened in anger, and her jaws clenched. She muttered, “Arthur, are you meeting Alexander? Why don’t you ever listen to me!”
She looked around, and although there was so much work needed to be done in Borealis, she groaned and ordered, “Prepare to leave for Port Leon tomorrow!”
