Gwen was still in shock, following Catherine’s apology that she froze in her seat. Theo’s mother had to repeat herself, “I’m sorry that I blamed you for my husband’s death. I’m sorry for never giving you a chance to prove your worth.”
Catherine suddenly cried. Her hands trembled as she put her teacup down on the small dining table of her hospital suite. She explained, “My husband, Edward, was my true mate. I loved him so dearly. When he died, I almost died with him. If it weren’t for my children’s suffering and knowing they needed me, I would have given up myself.”
“Lucius was so cruel, Gwen! The way he killed many of our people consumed us. Till this day, it still hurts,” Catherine revealed. “I think Lucius’ death was not enough to heal us that we continued to hate. We wanted a reason to hate you, and for that, I am sorry.”
“Despite everything,” Catherine added. “Despite what I had done to you, how I had looked down on you, you were still willing to treat me. I realized how wrong I was. I had lost touch with my humanity. I feel ashamed. I am the former Luna. I should have set an example, yet I was one of the first who cast judgment on you.”
“Your heart is pure, and you would be a better luna than me.” Catherine reached for Gwen’s hand and begged, “Please, Gwen. Please forgive me.”
After listening to Theo’s mother, Gwen could not help but weep with her. She earnestly understood where Catherine’s pain came from. Gwen shared, “I had suffered too, for many years. Lucius had also maltreated me. So I know how terrible he is. He might even be the person who took me away from my real family.”
“So, I understand the hate towards him. I just wished you did not blame me for his cruelty,” Gwen said as tears fell down her face. “But you are Theo’s mother and Ian’s grandmother. I don’t want to hate you. And if I can give Theo a chance, I am willing to forgive you too. So, I forgive you, and I hope this means you will give my son the love he deserves because Ian wants nothing more than to connect with you, being Theo’s mother.”
Catherine’s tears had completely stained her face. She struggled to breathe as she answered, “Thank you, Gwen. Thank you.”
Theo’s mother stretched her arms toward her, and Gwen rose to embrace Catherine. The moment their arms entwined, Gwen felt the firm, almost desperate tightness of the hold. The embrace carried the weight of her silent plea for forgiveness.
Gwen did not know how long she held Theo’s mother or how long they had been crying together. However, a creak on the door interrupted their emotional state. They both turned to find Caroline standing still in shock.
Before any of them could speak, Caroline turned on her heel without saying a word, and she left.
Catherine held Gwen’s hand and begged, “Please, give Caroline some time. Eventually, she will come around. I promise.”
Gwen simply nodded as she returned to her seat. She smiled at Catherine while carelessly wiping her face. She suggested, “You should finish your tea.”
Catherine was still hooked on intravenous fluids. Apart from secretly taking Gwen’s blood, she also had medications to address her current symptoms. After just two days of treatment, the improvement was clear—her once pale face had begun to regain its color. Gwen could tell that her blood was making a difference, and she was confident that Theo’s mother would fully recover within a week.
“I don’t know how you do it, but I am feeling much better,” Catherine said with a smile. Like Gwen, she also wiped the tears from her face. “Thank you, Gwen. Thank you so much.”
“You are welcome,” Gwen answered.
“Where is Ian now?” Catherine asked. “I’d like to see him again.”
Gwen replied, “He is with his other grandparents at the hotel, but I can ask the hospital if they can let Ian in -”
“No, no. A hospital is not a place for a child, not unless they need medical attention, but I’d like to see him when I am done with my treatment. How long do you think I’ll be better?” Catherine asked.
“Next week,” Gwen replied. “And that’s a promise.”
Gwen and Catherine chatted more about Ian in the next few minutes, but later on, Jacob came to fetch her. After Jacob entered the room, he said, “The king is waiting for you.”
Minutes later, she was evaluating King Arthur’s medications while he was having tea. Like Catherine, Gwen had requested Arthur to continue his treatment at Port Leon’s hospital. In that way, he was closely monitored and guarded.
Theo had ensured that six warriors, in addition to the king’s men, safeguarded his room round the clock. All of the king’s drinks and food, including medications, were tested for poison and other potential toxins before entering the room.
In his hospital bed, the king asked, “Aren’t you going to have tea with me? You know, Doctor, sometimes I wonder if the tea is making me better or your beautiful smile.”
Gwen laughed after putting away the king’s chart. She replied, “I already had tea, Your Highness. And you are right. It could be my charming smile.”
“No wonder Alpha Theo could never forget you,” the king remarked.
Arthur continued to drink his tea for the next few seconds, but after a while, he fell silent, looking down at his cup. Then, he suddenly asked, “Since I moved here, I haven’t heard of my brother. What has Alexander been up to?”

“I have done the test twice,” Doctor Hanson said. “The results are the same. Some of your sperm lasted for half an hour, but they were not moving at the ideal rate that they should, meaning they would not be able to travel through the cervix and into the fallopian tubes. The rest died within fifteen or twenty minutes.”
“On average, the shortest time it can take for sperm to fertilize an egg is around thirty minutes to an hour after intercourse, and these are considered fast swimmers,” the doctor added.
“Then, how do you explain Ian?” Theo angrily said in his seat.
He was at Dr. Hanson’s clinic, receiving an update on his sperm analysis. Theo still sought answers about what had happened in the past, especially since it was one of the reasons he had accused Gwen of cheating on him.
Doctor Hanson wavered. Then he suggested, “There is only one explanation that I could give you. It’s the Moon Goddess’ wish.”
“Alpha Theo, remember that Agatha had predicted you and the Luna would bring prosperity to the pack and that she would bear powerful heirs. What if it is a miracle somehow, and that it is the Moon Goddess’ plan.” The doctor added as he leaned closer to his table.
It took Theo a long time to consider the doctor’s suggestion, but eventually, he sighed and said, “Maybe, but does that mean I could only have one child? And that Ian was one off?”
He leaned back in dismay, saying, “I hope not. Because I had missed raising Ian, I want to experience having another child with Gwen.”
“Sadly, I have no answer to that, Alpha. You and Gwen would just have to try again,” Doctor Hanson proposed. He smiled and said, “I can see that you and Gwen have patched things up. Congratulations. I am happy for you, Alpha.”
Theo was about to reply when his beta suddenly mindlinked with him. Brody said, ‘Alpha, the queen is here. What should we do?’
