~ Queen Hazel ~
Queen Hazel and her men waited outside the LiLac Pack, observing behind the trees. Their scents were concealed so as not to alert the pack members inside. They all watched as a few people came in and out of the pack’s borders.
“We only saw a few pack members, Your Highness,” Bran pointed out.
“That’s because the Purple-Eyed Pack had always been a small group,” Hazel commented. She was already in her fighting gear, wearing a cloak and a hood over her head. Her eyes were sharp, as though she was piercing through the wooden barricades within the pack.
“I sense their calmness.” An evil laugh escaped her lips as she declared, “They have no idea what’s coming for them.”
“My men reported that they had seen one purple-eyed werewolf come through. So, it confirms your suspicion, Your Highness. I guess some of them survived,” Bran muttered.
“Yes, and over the years, they have reproduced.” With narrowed eyes, Hazel added. “So, there could be children with the same unique ability as mine.”
She contemplated and said, “Maybe we could take one of the children, a baby at least. Madlock and I can raise the pup.” Her lips twitched before adding, “Of course, this child has to have the same ability as me.”
When nighttime came, Helen’s men began surrounding the pack. They waited until nine in the evening to implement their plans. It was much easier to kill everyone when most pack members were asleep.
Hazel looked at the moon and knew it was time. She walked out of her hiding place and stood by the border’s entrance. Strangely, the warriors on guard did not have purple eyes, but Hazel assumed they were hiding their identities just as she was.
“Who are you?”
“What are you doing here at night?”
“Visitors are no longer allowed at this time.”
A mischievous grin formed on Hazel’s face. She pulled down the hood that covered her face and declared, “I’m not here to visit.”
She growled and said, “I’m here to kill all of you!”
Hazel raised her hand to signal her warriors. After which, she announced, “Attack!”
The ground trembled beneath her feet as her men sprinted at full speed. Piercing howls echoed through the air, a signal of their charge and an intimidation tactic.
“Kill them all! Kill them all!” Hazel ordered. Beneath her cornea lenses, her eyes glowed in purple.
The Lilac Pack warriors on guard began defending Hazel’s men, and to her shock, the werewolves were very skilled!
Only two warriors were on guard, but they easily took down the three of her men. Hazel was taken aback. She growled, “You imbeciles! Can’t you take care of some poorly trained warriors!”
Hazel called the rest of her men in hiding, “Attack all at once! Now!”
As more of her men advanced, more Lilac Pack warriors emerged from their borders. Like those on guard, the same warriors were skilled. Hazel noticed the same thing; they did not have purple eyes!
Just when she was doubting everything, she finally saw a warrior with the same color as hers. He was fighting her men with a moonstone weapon in his hand.
“I’ll take care of you!” Hazel muttered. She drew out her hand, and her double-edged sword was in her grasp.
Very quickly, Hazel was engaged in a battle with the purple-eyed warrior. The poor guy could barely keep his stance, often stumbling and rolling on the ground. When she found an opening, Hazel kicked the warrior’s gut, and he lost grip on his weapon.
“Hiya!” Hazel screamed as she also kicked the warrior. She maintained her foot on his warrior as she thrust back her hand, preparing to strike. “Yeh - Ahh!”
Suddenly, a small moonstone blade struck her hand, forcing her to drop her weapon. When she looked up, she noticed a familiar small blade had punctured through her hand.
Snapping her head behind her, she snarled, “Juliet!”
And just as she turned, deafening roars surrounded them, and like earlier, the ground shook, but with greater power!
The sounds of unknown werewolves attacking made Hazel’s skin crawl. They were coming from every direction, including from within the Lilac Pack!
“No,” Hazel muttered as she pulled the blade from her hand. Just as she did, the same weapon vanished.
She looked up to Juliet, standing beside her husband, George. Hazel said, “No, this - this can’t be. Why are you here?”
“It’s Queen Hazel!” Behind Juliet, Alpha Theo stood tall, his body expanding.
“So, it was you! It was you all along!” Juliet screamed. “The Northern Queen is you, Janice!”
While they were having a confrontation, Hazel’s men were engaged in a more fierce battle. Through the darkness of the night, Hazel studied the warriors and realized some of them were Theo’s men!
She counted the heads and quickly acknowledged they were outnumbered! She yelled, “Retreat! Retreat!”
“You don’t have anywhere else to go,” Theo barked. “It’s over, Hazel! Now that I know you had led this attack, King Arthur will hear about this!”
“He won’t believe you!” Hazel barked.
“Not even if there is a recording?” George said, holding a phone in his hand.
Panic surged within her, and she drew out her weapon and attacked George! She screamed, “How dare you!”
She also ordered some of her men to attack Juliet and Alpha Theo, hoping she could focus on George. The trio quickly battled it out with their individual opponents. Juliet was fighting a young warrior from Hazel’s group. Theo was going head to head with Bran, and Hazel attacked Alpha George.
As Hazel fiercely battled with George, thrusting her blade and sometimes using her claws, she thought about all her sacrifices, how she had hidden her identity for so long, and now all her efforts would go in vain!
‘How did they find out? How did they make it here?’ She had so many questions in her head as her weapon clashed repeatedly with George’s blade.
Luck was suddenly on her side because Juliet fell to the ground, unable to hold her defenses. It distracted George that Hazel found an opening. She thrust her hand back, ready to strike, but when she finally lunged her blade, Theo threw himself at George instead.
It was Theo who got wounded, and it irritated Hazel!
“Arghhh!” Theo screamed in pain, but while he had a cut on his shoulder, he still managed to shift into his wolf and attack Hazel!
Theo’s black wolf pinned her to the ground. Then, George and Juliet held her hand, forcing her weapon back inside of her. Theo barked, “It’s over, Hazel! Your time as queen is over!”
“No,” Hazel muttered. “This can’t be! No!”
She tried to wiggle herself free, but the next thing she knew, Juliet’s fist landed on her face! Two more followed, and Theo also transformed back into his human form and landed a blow to her stomach and face.
Her awareness quickly faded, and soon, it became dark.
When Hazel next opened her eyes. It was already broad daylight. She was bound to a massive tree, ensnared by a silver chain. Before she could make sense of everything, a firm slap went across her face!
“You! You betrayed me! I loved you, and this is how you repay me?” When Hazel looked up, she was shocked to see Arthur.
‘What is he doing here?’ she wondered as tears rolled down her face.
~ Gwen ~
While Hazel was about to have the biggest confrontation with King Arthur, back in Northern Alfar, Gwen, Baron, Brody, the king’s beta, and the rest of the royal guards had already seized the secret laboratory in Borealis.
They had identified the poisons and viruses stored from within, and the workers were locked up inside, being interrogated.
Gwen was in the security room with Beta Ivor and Baron when they discovered a surveillance camera that had been capturing visitors in recent days.
When Gwen saw Hazel, she felt goosebumps all over. “It’s the queen.”
“I knew it,” Ivor muttered. “I had always suspected -” he growled, his face full of regret. “The reason why Queen Hazel often came here is because she was behind this laboratory!”
Gwen watched as Ivor called the king. Since they had traveled to Borealis, they heard the news that Arthur followed after Theo and the others. They did not know why, but they soon got the answer.
“My King,” Ivor said, putting the phone on speaker for Gwen to hear. “I’m afraid our suspicion is correct. Hazel is behind the secret laboratory.”
There was a moment of silence before the king responded, “I know. She is here, and she had ordered the attack on the Lilac Pack. My wife is, apparently, Juliet’s sister, Janice.”
Gwen, “...”
