~ King Alexander ~
“Your Highness, I have always admired your royal guards, and I wish to work under your command.” Aaron, a warrior from the Purple-Eyed Pack, expressed. “Only that, in the past, we had always evaded directly working in the royal palace for fear of being discovered.”
“Son, things have changed now,” King Alexander assured. “Try out as a royal guard next month. Train with Alpha Theo. You will become one of my excellent warriors with your abilities and combined skills learned from the strongest Alpha of Northern Alfar.”
Aaron’s eyes gleamed at King Alexander’s suggestion. He said, “I’ll surely go.”
“Who is next?” Alexander asked.
“Your Highness, I have always dreamed of traveling around the world and becoming an academic scholar.” The person who spoke was Iris, one of the pack member’s promising young adults. “But, we often fall short in coming up with fake documents to get us into reputable schools, especially international ones.”
“Child, there is no need to fake documents now, and my people will help Alpha George clear your resident registration and documents.” King Alexander glanced at everyone in the crowd, adding, “I understand that many of you have lost your identifications after what happened thirty years ago, so this will be my priority.”
“Your Highness, now that we are aware it was Janice who caused the deaths of many of our kind, we want justice,” one older pack member raised, referring to Hazel.
“Rest assured that Janice and his mate will get the punishment they deserve,” Arthur suggested, sitting next to King Alexander. “My brother and I will both see to it.”
After George’s announcements, Alexander and Arthur attentively listened to the Purple-Eyed Pack. Their aim was to ease the pack’s concerns about George’s decision to reveal their existence. They were committed to offering their full support, whether through financial aid or the influence of their royal authority.
The kings took two full days to hear each pack member’s pleas. At the same time, every request and concern was discussed with Alpha George at the end of the day.
The ultimate decision about the pack’s slow introduction to Alfar was for them to remain registered under The Lilac Pack. King Alexander implied that keeping the Purple-Eyed Pack would further increase people’s curiosity about their eyes. Moreover, the pack has mixed lineages or other members who have married from another pack. They were no longer purely all purple-eyed werewolves.
As for Queen Hazel, after donating enough blood to cure werewolves affected by various poisons and viruses, she would be executed by decapitation at the site of her most heinous crime.
~ Gwen ~
“Intimidation is a factor. Exerting your dominance alarms our enemies most of the time!” Theo growled in his fighting stance. He was facing Baron, ready to have a duel. “You have already mastered fighting in human and werewolf forms, but you all need to learn different fighting techniques to keep up with every opponent!”
“I cannot stress enough the importance of having as many sparring sessions as possible,” Theo added. “Let’s begin!”
“Good luck, Theo. Beat the shit out of my brother!” Gwen said, but when her brother growled at her, she encouraged Baron, “Be careful, Baron. Watch Theo’s every move!”
Days went by. While the kings momentarily returned to their palaces, Theo and Caroline remained in Gwen’s pack. Theo saw it as a chance to prove his worth to Gwen’s small community. Given his history of abandoning Gwen and Ian, he wasn’t initially warmly welcomed. However, he steadily earned their trust, winning hearts little by little each day.
It started with Theo showing the pack how doting he was towards Gwen and Ian. Then, he and Caroline offered to teach the pack their fighting techniques. It also helped that Gwen and Ian supported him all the way.
Ian had always praised Theo before the pack members, especially the kids. Over the past few days, the pup had said the following:
“My Dad made a mistake, but I forgive him. He loves me very much and is making up for everything.”
“My Dad is a great warrior and an alpha! Of course, I am proud of him!”
As for Gwen, she had repeatedly told concerned elders that Theo was already a changed man. She had explained to the pack members what created a distance between them in the past, which, eventually, made most pack members understand.
Theo could not say he had won everyone’s approval, but Alpha George and Luna Juliet’s acceptance really mattered the most to him.
A day before Hazel’s beheading, George and Juliet called Theo into the Alpha’s office. When Theo had settled down, George said, “Tomorrow is an important day. Are you sure you will come with us? This is something that you don’t have to be part of.”
Theo leaned back in his seat, his jaws clenched. The truth was that tomorrow’s judgment day was not a simple one. It was meant to end everything so they could all move on with their lives. Theo replied, “Queen Hazel had made Gwen suffer. And let’s not forget how she had Ian kidnapped. I will be part of it. Some of my warriors will be flying back here tonight.”
“We don’t know what to expect for tomorrow, so allow Juliet and me to say this now.” Alpha George sucked in a deep breath and said, “Theo, you have proven your sincerity and love towards my grandson and Gwen, and with that, we formally give you our blessing - even if you had already marked each other without our permission.”
George’s blessing included a faint bitterness, but acceptance is acceptance, and Theo would not turn it down. Theo and Juliet laughed at George’s words. Juliet said to him, “We don’t want to live in the past anymore, and you had been so welcoming to us when we were in your pack, so we are giving you this chance to make our daughter and Ian happy.”
“Silently, we have already accepted you, but we figured you’d want to hear it from us,” Juliet added with a smile.
“It gives me such relief to hear those words,” Theo said, his hand resting on his chest. “I swear on my life, I will love and protect Gwen and Ian -”
“Try to give us another grandchild too,” Juliet said. “We haven’t told you this, but I suspect the reason why Gwen got pregnant was because of her ability to heal others - her fluids and blood. Maybe it will just take time, but try and try again.”
Theo’s heart raced. He hadn’t thought about it, but now he realized this was the reason his wife was so confident about them having another child. He stilled for a moment before saying, “It’s truly fate. Given my condition, it’s fate that Gwen is my mate.”
“It must be,” George echoed. “So, cherish this fate, and make sure my daughter gets a proper wedding when this is all over.”
Theo nodded and replied, “I will.”
~ Alpha Madlock ~
“We are here. We finally made it,” Alpha Madlock muttered, scanning through the designated place of Hazel’s decapitation within Southern Alfar.
They were at the previous territory of the Purple-Eyed Pack, which had now been converted into a private graveyard of all that had died. If Madlock were to be completely honest, it was the perfect place for Hazel’s execution.
“They will pay,” he growled.
A sneer curled on Madlock’s angular face, his amber eyes glowing with a predatory gleam. His muscular frame swelled, on the verge of shifting. The weight of his mate’s fears and pains had been bearing down on him, pushing him toward a primal rage.
Three days ago, the news of Hazel’s judgment day reached his ears. So, Alpha Madlock and his men traveled on land to cross the border to Southern Alfar. Their plan was clear: To save Hazel, kill the rest of the Purple-Eyed Pack, and everyone who stood in their way!
“Prepare the poisons, all of it,” Madlock commanded. “Coat them into your weapons and spread them across the field. Don’t forget to lace your claws with our most potent toxin tomorrow. I imagine the site will be heavily guarded. Still, with the amount of poisons we have, we will remain advantageous.”
