“Where did you find this?” I asked slowly trying to comprehend the whole thing. I don’t even understand what’s going on anymore. This whole thing keeps getting complicated each second.
My voice came out strained.
“A few of the nurses were going on about how they could be rich if only they could find a particular person and get the bounty money, and so out of curiosity, I looked into what they were talking about and then…… I saw her picture. I was shocked too. I instantly told the nurses off and ordered them to delete the pictures or lose their job. However, there’s only so much I can do if that picture is already circulating online. Someone is bound to realize Alpha.” He said but his words barely registered as they bounced off my ears
I couldn’t believe what I was looking at.
Staring back at me on the screen of the phone was Paula’s picture. The horrifying thing about it was that it was tagged with a bounty of a hundred thousand dollars.
It also said that the alpha was desperately looking for Paula. It was mentioned that if she was found sooner, the person would be rewarded more handsomely than it was stated in the picture.
According to the article, she is an alpha’s Luna, and he’s desperately looking for her.
‘She’s a Luna?! Whose Luna? Bounty money. Her picture. Circulating.. wait, what the fuck?’ I wasn’t able to process anything as questions kept churning in my mind. All I could do was slump down in my seat while staring at the picture.
I really couldn’t believe my eyes, but I realized it was accurate and authentic after closing and opening them a few times. Her picture is right in front of my eyes and she’s declared missing.
“Alpha, I’m sorry to say this but you might be mistaken about her being your mate and even considering her pregnancy too…I don’t think––”
I immediately cut him of as I stood up and slammed him on the wall while holding on to his collar.
“Are you questioning my intuition? Are you saying that I as Alpha can’t tell my mate apart from other people?” I growled.
He actually whimpered as he shook his head frantically, it was then that I realized my fault and let him go. I threw his phone at him and dashed out the door of his office.
I didn’t go to Paula’s hospital room at all as I needed to process all this news. Instead, I went out of the hospital and rushed off to the forest, letting my wolf come out and taking a wild run into the woods.
My entire body was blazing with anger and unleashed rage, and I knew that my much-anticipated run in the Forest could do something to quench it.
Black, my wolf was every bit as angry as I was.
All the thoughts and second doubts I had about my mate went with the wind immediately.
That bastard. Whoever he is!
He abused her yet he is desperately ssearching for her? He fucking put a bounty on her head like a fucking criminal!
That was enough to make Black growl with unchained anger. The mate bond is broken yet he still dares to look for her like she’s some criminal who ran away with his money!
‘Did he drive her to commit suicide and give up on her life?’ I questioned inwardly.
I don’t know him yet I want to punch him in the face. Even Black wanted to rip him apart limb to limb!
“She is Mine!” Black growled.
“Mine!” He growled louder.
Yes! Mine!
Second chance mate or not! She’s fucking mine! The Moon goddess sent her to me to be my mate after I have searched for so long. She no longer belongs to any male! And she’s no one’s Luna except mine and I’m going to show it to whoever that fucker is. I’m not one to mess with the shits of other alphas regardless of their pack but this is my one shot at actually getting a mate and I won’t blow it and remain miserable for the rest of their life.
When I have finally managed to suppress my rage and fully control Black’s outrage, I shifted back to my human self and made my way back to the hospital.
I needed answers and I needed them now!
I met the pack doctor right in front of her hospital room as I got to the hospital. He bowed immediately and I know he’s afraid that he must have offended me.
“Which room is the most secure here?” I asked.
I need to get her out of here first. He might be close by and someone might have found her.
“Every room here is secure alpha” he answered and I shot him a glare.
“Answer me!” I yelled and his stance shook instantly. I loved that, I need more action.
If I don’t take control now, They’d see it as an avenue to disrespect my mate and I couldn’t let that happen.
“The VVIP rooms s-sir” he answered
“Good! Move her there right now!” I commanded.
He didn’t argue and he immediately called out to the nearby nurses and led them into Paula’s room. Soon they were wheeling a very confused redhead out of her room while I followed and asked the guards to follow me.
She was taken into a more secluded and private room. I ordered the doctor to not allow anybody to do her checkups except him. I strictly ordered my guards to not let anyone in.
All this while, my phone rang and beeped with messages each time. When I checked the messages, they were all from Hawke and he’s complaining that the elders wanted to see me and that he was barely keeping them calm with little excuses.
I switched my cell phone off.
I can’t talk to anyone right now. Right now, I can’t trust anyone but myself. Knowing there would be attempts to mind-link me, I shut my mind off and put a barrier to stop any incoming mind-link. I have to hear her talk first. My mate has to talk first, then and only then will I be able to take a step forward.
