I turned around to look at the person who had just spoken and I found it to be the old witch I was looking for. When I came here, I thought she would look like those witched that had hunched backs, a pointed nose and a pimple filled face but I was intensely wrong. The woman was very short and petite with a wrinkled face and surprisingly she also had a beige colored scarf wrapped around her head.
“Now tell me, why is a wolf in my territory?” she snapped obviously enraged at the fact that I had thought of harming her cat.
Not many creatures in the realm got to me and I pride myself in that but something about the old woman’s dark eyes made me take a step back. She looked way too dangerous for my liking even with her petite stature and I sure didn’t want tomes with her.
“I’m here to seek counsel from Akayla.” I said trying to sound calm and in control.
She suddenly opened her mouth and a throaty sound I soon understood to be laughter came out. I didn’t understand how she did it but the ground besides me soon started to shake along with her laughter. I braced myself and tried to put up a brave front but I was kind of scared inside.
“You would make a fine meal for this old woman if it wasn’t for the fact that you would probably be too bitter because of how much negativity you carry around” Aria said while snickering and I almost lost my cool at that point but steadied myself in time.
I wasn’t going to respond to him and I wouldn’t react to his taunts but his laughter echoing in the background made me hiss.
“And why would she see you?” She suddenly said eyeing me with obvious distaste.
There has been an unsettled grudge between werewolves and witches, a long story I wouldn’t like to indulge in.
“She owes me a favor.” I said while I watched as the old woman assessed me from head to toe..
“Hmph,” she grunted before she turned and literally disappeared.
I turned around looking to see if I could catch another glimpse of her but it was a futile attempt.
“Are you coming with or not” Her voice suddenly rang out from nowhere in particular.
I immediately threw my hands up exasperatedly,
“Who do I follow?” I yelled, getting annoyed.
This witch just loved to play with my head but I wasn’t going to allow it today, I had more pressing issues to deal with. The cat at my feet suddenly started walking and it was then I guessed I was supposed to follow him and I did just that. I wouldn’t follow just anything but normally, beggars can’t be choosers.
We reached a small cottage that was less than a two-minute walk from where I stood. I fought the urge to curse at the damn woman as I had spent more than two hours walking around when the cottage was just there. She must have used some dark magic to hide the cottage because I didn’t see anything then.
“Knock three times and say your name, don’t speak too loud.” her voice instructed.
I nodded and did what she had instructed and soon the door opened by itself. Inside, It looked like a normal cottage with two sofas, a muddy brown carpet and a bowl of something I don’t even want to know about above the fireplace.
“Xayden of green moon pack, to what do I owe this pleasure?” I jump back a bit when I see Akayla with her grey hair and wrinkled face sitting on the sofa that was empty four seconds ago
‘What’s it with these witches and just appearing out of nowhere?’ I thought.
“Akayla,” I nodded my head in acknowledgement.
“I know you certainly didn’t come here to chat over tea and brunch so what do you want?” She asked coldly.
“I want you to destroy Frankie.” I said going straight to the point.
“And why would I help you?” She asked while chuckling mockingly.
“Akayla please, I was there when you needed my help and now I’m begging you to do this for me.” I say forcing myself to be humble.
“Oh Xayden! Oh stupid, stupid Xayden, Humans change and people forget favors. I already paid you back by letting you see me without any hitch” She said and I almost went crazy with rage.
I forced myself to calm down as I couldn’t risk ruining the impression I was trying to create in front of here. I would so not have walked aimlessly for two hours straight only to go back empty handed
“What do I gain if I help you?” She proceeded to ask after a while.
Now she was talking as that was a language I could understand.
“When I become the alpha king, I’ll give you what you’ve always wanted,” I state as confidently as I can even though my mind was in utmost chaos within.
“And what is that?” She asked while grinning toothily. It was then I saw her blackened and decayed teeth and it made me instinctively step back.
“A place in the realm, with respect to all witches, you won’t just be looked at as the curse to nature” I said once I had regained my bearing.
“Now, why exactly do you want me to do it?” She asked, her hands moving weirdly in the air in a way that made me a bit antsy to be honest.
I didn’t trust her with my life for one bit.
She could decide to produce balls of fire that would make me nothing but crumbs as I’ve seen her destroy the strongest of all males.
“I want you to make him miserable, I want him to suffer terribly before he dies, take Paula away from him, make her disappear, I don’t care, just hurt him.” I said while hatred and anger started to seep into my voice.
She didn’t say anything for a while but I noticed her hands moving faster and she was chanting in an ancient tongue I had come across once before.
A dark cloud soon appeared in the room and a strong wind surrounded us. For a while nothing happened, then I heard a scream and everything went back to normal.
I turned to look Akayla who has beads of sweat and perspiration running down her forehead.
“Is that it?” I asked eagerly.
She shook her head in a sign of negative and my smile dropped immediately
“What do you mean no?” I snapped at her finally revealing my true nature.
“I don’t know,” She said her voice low.
“I tried to get in her head but something blocked me out, I can’t touch Paula.” She continued with shock evident on her face.
I couldn’t fully process what Akayla said as I was left in a state of utter shock.
‘How was this possible? How could that bitch be immune to Akayla’s attacks?’ I pondered.
We were talking about the strongest witch in the entire werewolf realm whom nobody dared to anger. This really baffled me as I knew that she was ordinary so I couldn’t figure out how this was possible.
“What the hell am I supposed to do with that information?” I growled angrily.
“Listen to me boy, I can’t hurt that girl,” She stopped and when she continued her eyes twinkled in mischief. “But there is definitely something I can do.”
“I can open a portal that can allow humans into the realm.” My eyes widened as I didn’t know anyone could do that.
For a few years here and they’re humans made it into the realm but most of them couldn’t stay for long because of the extreme weather.
“It will be dangerous because they can be hunted by werewolves and overall it can shake the balance.” I disregarded the last part, a plan already forming in my head.
If humans are suddenly intersecting the realm and being hunted, Frankie would be too busy trying to stop the war that would ensue and he’ll lose a lot of people on his army, with his hands full he wouldn’t notice when I swoop in from under and take the throne that is mine, I’ll have my throne and he won’t even see it coming.
I nod at the old witch with a satisfactory smirk, “open the portal.”
She shook her head in a negative and I tried really hard not to scream at her.
“It is really dangerous Xayden. I don’t know what you’re thinking but you won’t be able to control the situation if it gets out of hand. Are you aware that this portal is the only one that connects the werewolf realm to other supernaturals? If you let the humans come in, you’re allowing them to have an edge over you and they would come in folds in both good and bad. I am sorry but I can’t do that and I can’t trade this peace the alpha king has helped restore for anything else.” She said with distant look on her face.
I rolled my eyes as I didn’t come here to be lectured.
“Go home and think about it then we can talk more.” She said.
I wanted to reply but I soon found the earth spinning and soon I had appeared right in front of my car and at the foot of the mountain.
“What the hell?” I screamed.
