Tomorrow was the trial and I was really on edge and couldn’t sit and especially after what the witch told me. It doesn’t matter even if I think for ten years, my answer will still be the same. I wasn’t going to be considerate at all as I wanted blood to flow everywhere. I would restart the whole werewolf realm administration and everything Frankie ever worked for would go down the drain.
“How will you take care of the people that entered the realm because your stupid self decided that opening the portal was a great thing. If Frankie dies, you think closing back the portal would kill those in the realm already? I always knew you were stupid but not this stupid actually.” Aria said before he scoffed.
Stupid wolf, I wish Akayla would be able to help me get rid of it.
I pushed that thought to the back of my mind as I wracked my brain for what to do to get Paula back. I had taken up the idea of getting her back once again mostly because I was curious.
The fact that she was protected by a barrier strong enough to give the most powerful witch in the werewolf realm a run for her money. If she was special in any way, I couldn’t let Frankie get her at all as that would only strengthen his hold over the throne.
I proceeded to walk to my private office and go through a shelf at the back corner, away from prying eyes. I tapped different places on the shelf and it parts to reveal a hidden compartment. There was a small door in there and it held the key to my victory, I entered in the code on the keypad attached to the door and took the contents out.
I carefully brought out the manila folder and walked out of the house. I couldn’t wait to make Frankie a dummy at his own game then go home with Paula like a trophy. Then the bitch would start suffering from scratch. She would suffer for letting my heir die, for letting a whole lot of things happen, and for letting Frankie beat me up.
My first stop was on the far north of my territory. As it was written in the book, I’ve learnt from my years of being an alpha to always have a lot of…. acquaintances, wing men, friends, just try as much as you can to not have many enemies
The person I was looking for sat at the darkest part of the dingy old bar I arrived at.
This was a local hangout for lowlife wolves, not exactly rogues but on their way to being one, they move from one pack to the next looking for livelihood. This place was where the dirtiest deals went down and where your class is put aside to discuss what you’re bringing to the table.
I only saw the back view of the person but I knew that he was the right person as he was wearing black leather jacket and dark jeans. I walked up to him ignoring the stares of the few sober people that recognized me.
I sat opposite him not waiting for an invite and just sized me up as he smoked his cigar.
“Isn’t this Alpha Xayden himself in the flesh?” He said with a deep and rough voice, a contrast to his lanky body. His muscles were thick and he looked ripped inside the jacket. His face had many scars and I knew he was a very dangerous man and not to be messed with.
“What do you have for me?” I said going straight to the point.
He blew a puff into my face, and I fought the urge to stand up and bash his face in but I needed his help. I sat still until the smoke disappeared and I could see him smirking. I knew what he’s playing at here, he’s trying to frustrate me and he knew he had higher hands here than me. Criminals are only loyal to themselves.
“What are you willing to give?” He asked before leaning back into the chair as he took another swig of his beer.
I threw him two wads of cash from the folder in my hands which he picked and studied for a bit before he pocketed. He handed me a folder that looked similar to the one I picked out earlier.
I picked it up tore it open to see that there was only a single paper inside. I looked at the information written there before nodding in satisfaction and standing up.
I was about to leave when he spoke up.
“There’s a house far off into the woods on the east side, you’ll find his little secret there. Don’t be slow and act like a man.” I said nothing and only nodded before setting off.
It took a bit longer to get to the east but I was able to find the “Hidden” house that he talked about easily. For something that housed great secrets, it was surely too public.
I didn’t hesitate before walking towards the front door of the house. The door fell open when I pushed a little bit. It was small but cozy and had a homey feel to it inside. It looked like it housed a little perfect family but I knew better.
I heard footsteps and a woman soon appeared from one of the halls. Her eyes widened upon sighting me but she bowed instantly, when she recognized the alpha status from my scent.
“Alpha, good evening sir.” I nodded in acknowledgement and walked further into the room
“Where is he?” I asked going straight to the point and I could see the way she tensed.
We both knew the ‘He’ I was talking about and I would really hate to repeat myself.
“I-I don’t know what-what you’re t-talking about alpha.” She stammered.
I fixed my glare on her and she started shivering on the spot. Perfect, I like it when they get scared of me. I continued to stare and I enjoyed the way she fiddled with her hands nervously.
“Now tell me sweetheart, where is your keeper?” I asked again, this time as slowly as I could.
I made sure to sound as cold and threatening as I could but she shook her head and tried to blink back tears already.
“Please alpha don’t make me say it, he’ll kill me if he finds out.” She pleaded with tears rolling freely down her eyes.
Nah, I thought she was strong and would be hard to break. This is so sad for her, I hate whiny little women.
“But Paula whines a lot and yet you’re here to look for a way to get an upper hand to win the trial in an unfair manner. Weak pathetic Alpha” Aria chimed in.
‘Before opening the portal, I should consider killing off this stupid wolf of mine.’ I thought.
“Oh, he’ll find out alright but he won’t be here to hurt anyone and besides, he would have to know you to kill you right?” I paused and waited for her to nod before continuing, “I definitely won’t tell, will you?” She shook her head frantically.
“I just need a few things from you, will you cooperate with me?” I asked and she nodded submissively.
Good.
“How many people are you?” I asked.
“I don’t know how many Alpha as he keeps us in one place we are pregnant then he’ll make sure to kill the child if it’s a girl.” She replied with her lips quivering.
“They were mostly girls.” I started and she nodded with a solemn look.
“I had two boys, that was why he brought me here but he doesn’t visit as much as he does anymore, he only sends food over.” She added the last part in tears.
“Where are the boys?” I asked.
“With him, they went hunting and they’ll be back soon.” I nod before standing up.
I knew those fucking dirty old men had skeletons in their closet and I’ll use it the right way. A few miles from the house, I saw another headlight at the far end of the road. The car was parked and the familiar scent made a smile appear on my face.
I parked close to it and stepped out not far from the parked car. I notice the old man standing with a boy of about ten beside him.
His eyes widen as he finally notices me and my smile got wider, this will be good.
I didn’t wait for him to recover from his shock before I landed the final blow.
“Tomorrow, know what to say or your wife and girls will hear about your concubines and little secret heirs, I’m sure they’ll be happy to hear about their siblings.” With that I turn and leave.
One down, three more to go, but before I pay the next man on my list a visit, I stopped at a pub and meet a woman in her late twenties.
“You’re the man?” She asked, sizing me up.
She was human.
I wondered how she survived in this realm for this long without dying but I knew not to ask questions.
“Yes,” she said before showing me to a small office at the back.
“I have the name and contact of the man, the price.” She said.
I handed her the cash and collected the same type of file from her before going off to my next destination.
This time I drove to the house at the outskirts of black moon pack. The man I was looking for was right outside much to my luck, I didn’t think I would’ve enjoyed it if I had to break down the door or pick the lock.
“Alpha Xayden, what a surprise?” he greeted with a guarded smile.
A surprise indeed, I thought with a smirk.
“Come in,” he said but I shook my head.
“Okay then, how may I help you?” he cautiously asked.
I handed him the folder wordlessly and watched him open it slowly, almost scared of what he’ll find in there and his eyes widen when he saw the contents.
Every record of his illegal transactions, records of deaths that were not accounted for, majority of them rogues, a picture of his warehouse, where they remove the organs with the hand of a human doctor and bank receipts for when he gets paid for each and every one of the organs he had sold.
Beads of sweat form on his forehead and if possible, making my smile grow wider.
“I hope we’re on the same page now.” I drawled and he nodded hesitantly.
I nodded at him before leaving with a goodnight.
The rest of the night went similarly, I meet my contact and collected the information I needed. At the end of the day, four of the council elders were on my side and the other two got off lucky but I’ll dig up some dirt on them, for when I become alpha king, I couldn’t have people I call elders mess around.
Satisfied with my new position, I headed back to my pack a little past midnight.
I knew I was going to win because those old men were too cowardly to risk their dirty secrets getting out.
Paula is mine, with or without the child, I’ll make her pregnant again, I don’t care, a dark part of me thought. Winning the trial would breeze now.
