Another vase went flying across the room and I didn’t bother check for the direction it went flying to. The sound of it shattering echoed throughout the whole pack house.
I angrily threw away everything within my reach until my office table was empty and there was nothing left to throw. The whole floor was a mess and there was barely any room left for me to tread on.
I was hurt somewhere on my body but I didn’t really care. In reality, I feel like shit and more or less like a failure.
‘How could this have happened to me?’
My entire body was quivering from rage and I had the urge to hit something. My head was about to set off like fireworks added together with a dozen of other dangerous explosives.
There was just one reason behind all of my rage and it was none other than Him
Frankie.
That fucking bastard.
Like a fucking slime, he always manages to wiggle his way out of every situation and that infuriated me so much.
My plan was perfect.!
But as always, he managed to win the trial after everything I put into it.
He always knew how to get the better of me with his words. He always ran his mouth and made me feel really useless.
Powerless
Weak And unimportant.
There was nothing I can do other than to take it out on my own self and that made me feel way too pathetic.
The memory of Frankie’s smirk as he held his sword to my neck flashes before my eyes on replay and it only makes me growl in annoyance. I hated that face, that fucking smirk, I hate it all. I hated him but there was nothing I could do to wipe that ridiculous smirk off his face
When I finally calm down, my eyes scans through the room and it is then I notice the big time mess I had made but I didn’t really care at all.
My gaze froze at a corner of the room when I spotted something, I found to be very familiar.
One of my maids was sobbing hard by a corner with her head hung low and her back turned to me. I didn’t realize she was there but I vaguely remember meeting someone cleaning my office when I returned from the council after Frankie’s victory. I didn’t even realize she had been at that corner for the last hour since I started my fit and till, I ended it.
I didn’t like the feeling of Deja Vu that hit me at the familiarity of the scene so I send a sharp glare her way.
“What are you doing here? Get the fuck out of here!” I barked and watched as she scurried away in fear.
‘Why did that scene feel familiar? And why did I find it disturbing?’ I thought to myself.
I looked back at the corner where the maid previously crouched at and I unconsciously run my hand through my hair. Instead of seeing the maid there, I saw the sobbing back of someone familiar.
It was Paula.
Crouched at that same corner, whimpering and sobbing, cowering at my every move and holding her hands to her face to block my attacks. I see her flushed face covered with dried tears and little scars that had somehow became permanent. Her wavy red hair all over the place and bags of tiredness under her eyes.
I remember how good it made me feel to see her that way.
Submissive and weak all under my control.
Hell, it even turns me on and I’m always unable to resist the urge to take her right there at such times.
It made me feel confident that at least I had someone who I could fully control as an Alpha male. Someone other than my guards and maids who are sworn to work for me regardless of the situation. I had always felt inferior all my life and having someone who was close yet lower than me made me feel confident in myself.
Paula has done a good job at being that figure in my life.
She was weak and I owned her.
Without her here at this very moment where I feel like I’m going crazy, I felt……. useless. She has been a sort of distraction from all of the inferiority complex inside of me that I’m never going to admit I have.
But she’s no longer here to do that.
She’s gone.
Totally out from my reach as I haven’t even seen her since that day in my car where she suddenly disappeared into the forest. I wonder if she thinks of me and is afraid that I might just swoop in one day and bring her back here.
One thing is for sure though, and that is the fact that She’s gone. With fucking Frankie!
They say the winner takes it all and Frankie has truly taken all from me. The only thing keeping me sane has been taken away, just like he took the throne from me.
“Fuck!!!!”
I walked out of the office and signal to two of my maids who came running to me.
“Clean that up before I return”
I command and walk away with no definite destination in mind.
Without any other thoughts, I make my way to the home of one of the elders whose dark secrets I have as a card in my hands.
The moment I get there, he was already running out of his house with hurried steps towards me while looking back and forth as if trying to know if someone is following him.
Dirty bastard.
“What are you doing here?” He whispers looking around frantically.
Who would have thought a frail old man like him would have the strength to enslave females to bear kids for him like dogs without the knowledge of his family. The poor man must be really frustrated with not having a male child that he has to go to such lengths to get an heir.
“What do you think?” I said trying to move him out of the way and go inside of his house.
“No! No please let’s talk out here, my Family is inside and I have kept my own end of the deal” He pleads.
“Your end?” I scoff towering over the old man
” how did that turn out!!!?” I yell.
“Please keep your voice down alpha Xayden. I understand your rage. We all didn’t expect the Alpha king to win” He pleads frantically as he tries to get me to lower my voice.
“Stop calling him the Alpha king for fuck’s sake!!” I growl and he cowers in fear.
“Listen and calm down Alpha Xayden. We’ll talk about this. You have to calm down so we can decide the next line of action for you to take the throne and get your Luna back. I’ll summon all of the other elders on our side and we’ll meet at a place to discuss what to do next tonight” He says before leaning closer and whispering “besides, we have a card in our hands that we can use against him”
Then he smiles wryly. I’m not impressed and only shove him away from me.
“Tonight,” I say and turn to walk away.
He says they have a plan.
I will just wait and see how it unfolds.
I return home and sit at my table while counting the ticks of the clock until it’s finally midnight and the elder mind-linked me telling me to meet them at a particular cottage in the forest.
I set off immediately and when I get there, all of the elders I had wrapped around my fingers were already seated as if prepared for the meeting. The elder I visited earlier is the first to notice me as he beckoned me to come forward.
“We understand your concern, Alpha Xayden. We are concerned too” He said.
“Of course, concerned about your dirty secrets being revealed by me,” I said while scoffing at them.
“Now what do you have in your hands that can get me my Luna back,” I said going straight to the point.
They all signal to the elder I visited earlier and he comes forward.
“What we have in our hands is able to get you what you so desire if used wisely” I listened but rolled my eyes at his opening sentence.
“Get to the point old man” I growl.
“Yes, Alpha. I’m sure you know of the recent kidnap of your Luna?” He said.
“Paula?” I asked.
I remember Frankie blaming me for her disappearance when I hadn’t even seen her since the day, she left me. The issues surrounding her sudden disappearance weren’t so clear to me but I know that she was found soon after.
“Yes. What about it?”
“We found the person who did it”
My interest is immediately peaked. “Who? Who did it?” I asked.
“The alpha King’s chosen Luna who is his beta’s sister. Her name is Renee” he revealed and I couldn’t believe my ears.
Renee kidnapped Paula? I didn’t even have to ask why because the reason is so glaring. But how does that work in my favor?
“But how is that of any help to me?” I query.
“Well, we also found out that her brother, the king’s beta was in on it too. He helped her return the Luna” He continues, dropping another bombshell.
“Hawke?” I am in utter shock for the first time.
Frankie’s beta betrayed him? How hilarious! I think I know where this is going and I like it.
“Let me guess, you have blackmailed his beta with the secret?” I asked.
The elder smiles as If proud of his feat “yes” he replies and I chuckle out loud before standing up to pat him on his back.
“Now that’s the kind of news I want to hear” I said as I bellowed loudly.
With Frankie’s beta betraying him, I could actually have everything within my reach without having to go through so much trouble anymore. The thought excites me and a new feeling of confidence settles inside of me.
“Besides, we only let him have the Luna to let his guard down and keep him calm with the thought that he has won. He won’t know what hit him when we strike” The elder said as he grins evilly.
I’ve never felt so confident about a plan before and this looks like my best shot at finally getting the throne and Paula.
I can’t wait to have Frankie beg for his life in my hands.
