I didn’t really understand what was going on in the pack house ever since Anne came back from the land of the dead. There had been a lot of tension and misunderstandings.
Whatever it was, I didn’t really care as long as it doesn’t affect me in any way. This whole development was a bit strange and suspicious but I didn’t really give a shit.
I was currently at sitting by Frankie’s side in the dining room, settling some last minute pack business when Anne walked in. I narrowed my eyes at her, seizing her up once more.
I didn’t believe her sob story in the least bit but since she wanted to play Frankie for a fool, she could try and fail woefully.
Even though I detested him, I had to admit that he was intelligent and good at running the affairs of his pack. That was one of the reasons I respected him so deeply before. It never really had much to do with the fact that he was my best friend but more of the fact that he was a strong leader that anyone would want to follow.
Anne noticed my glare and shrunk her shoulders back in what seemed to be fear. I rolled my eyes and looked away only to look back when I perceived Paula’s scent.
That was strange as Paula had never come down for breakfast since she came to the pack house. All her meals had been taken to her chambers at her request.
I think that she never got used to seeing or having so many people around so she only ever spoke to Frankie.
Frankie noticed it too because he looked up and when he saw her, he immediately smiled. He beckoned on her to come and I could see that she was blushing so really badly. I looked between them trying to figure out what that whole blushing business was about.
Anne didn’t seem to notice as she just trudged towards the only remaining seat that was beside Frankie.
The seat meant for the Luna.
The hell?
Has she truly forgotten the rules or was she just good at pretending?
Either way I found this whole scene to be highly entertaining.
“Anne! What are you doing? Don’t you remember that this is the seat for the Luna” Frankie said to stop her just before she sat on the seat.
She looked embarrassed as she straightened up and backed away.
“I’m sorry Frankie. I had forgotten that rule seeing as I was always the one who sat by your side those years back. I really didn’t mean any harm as it was just out reflex and memory.” She said with a pitiful look that irked me. She looked like a squashed banana that had been rotten for quite a while.
She should really work on that look.
Frankie, surprisingly, didn’t seem fazed or eager to comfort her and just waved her off with a warning.
He stood up and went towards Paula who had been standing there silently the whole time and took her hand before leading her back towards the Luna’s chair.
Anne sat down at the chair besides the Luna’s appointed chair silently and stared blankly at her empty plate. She might have been really quiet and calm but I knew something about her that no one did.
I wasn’t going to say anything as I wanted to see how this would play out. I wanted the secret that Anne held to crush her alongside Frankie and Paula if possible but I knew it would never happen.
The weight of that secret didn’t hold that much power.
I looked towards Frankie and Paula and found the displaying their public bouts of affection.
When did their relationship get this good?
Wasn’t Paula sobbing and screaming at Frankie just this afternoon?
What was with the sudden change in attitude?
I kept pondering as I looked between Paula’s glowing yet red face and Frankie’s smiling face.
And the it clicked….
Wait…..
Did they do something intimate?
It had to be that.
The thing was that I was sure that they hadn’t mated because Frankie would have looked over the moon alongside Paula but this was just as juicy.
Things just got more and more interesting.
I think it’s time to set my plan in motion.
I needed to strike while the iron was hot.
An Hour Later.
We just finished our dinner and I couldn’t have been happier leave the dinning table.
It was filled with so much tension that I was sure it could cut through air.
Frankie and Paula were in their own little bubble while Anne was just staring blankly at her plate.
I was in the center of it all as I had nothing to do with their misunderstandings and petty scuffles.
Now I was walking down the hallway in an attempt to intercept someone.
When I spotted the person, I looked right and left before reaching forward, grabbing the hand of the person and pulling them towards an empty room along with me.
The person wanted to scream but I was quicker as I covered their mouth.
When the person calmed and noticed that it was me, they looked at me with confusion in their eyes.
“I know your secret.” I announced as the person just stared at me like a gaping fish in the water.
I could still see disbelief in the person’s eyes so I leaned forward to whisper what I knew into their ear.
When I stepped back, the person was staring at me in shock and fear. I smirked as I began walking backwards and out of the room.
3…2…1
“Wait!” I heard the person exclaim once I was a foot from the door.
Bullseye!
I turned slowly, not forgetting to wipe the smirk off my face as I turned to face the person.
I could see that they were scared of me exposing their secret.
“What do you want in exchange for your silence?” The person asked in a shaky voice.
“My silence? Well my silence is somewhat expensive so what are you able to offer.” I replied, loving the game of playing the bait that I was playing.
“I can offer you lands and riches if you are able to help me by keeping this secret.” The person said as the looked at me expectantly like as if they had offered a deal I couldn’t pass up.
Was this fool expecting me to jump up at such a useless promise.
“Are you kidding me right now? Do you think I am a pauper. I may be the Alpha King’s Beta but I am sure that I am wealthy enough to last my next three generations.” I said as I sneered at the person for having the effontry to mock me in such a manner.
“No I didn’t think that you were a pauper of any kind. I just didn’t know what you would want so I called the first thing that came to my mind. I am sorry if I offended you in any way” The person pleaded frantically as they tried to hold on to my hand but I was quick to dodge.
“I forgive your rudeness but next time, there will be no room for negotiations. I am not a patient man or a man you should mess with.” I said as menacingly as I could while I inched closer to them.
“What do you want then?” They said.
“Well, seeing as you are asking so earnestly, I will tell you. I want you to work for me and report all your partner’s orders to me.” I stated as I stared at the person’s face to guage their reaction.
“What? That is absurd! You truly don’t mean that do you. I can’t change my plans just because you are threatening me. Besides, if that person finds out and I still don’t have a backing by then, I will be in big trouble.” The person stated nervously as they began pacing the room.
“Calm down! I never asked you to change your plans. I just asked you to report everything your partner instructs you to do to me as I want to guage if your plans are strong enough to make any impact. You see, the thing is that I want you to succeed as that will in turn benefit me.” I confessed as I watched the person’s eyes grow as wide as saucers.
“What? You mean…..” They asked totally bewildered as to why I would do that I the first place.
I cut in “Yes I would but don’t ask me why. This must not have any traces of my involvement and I will only provide ways to improve your plans. You mustn’t tell your partner about me though. So do you agree to my terms?” I asked as I raised my brow.
The person looked to be really considering whether my involvement was a good idea or not.
“Be quick with you decision as I am a busy man. Are you in or not?” I asked one more in a more pressing tone to convey the message that I was not playing around.
“I’m in! I have agreed to working with you.” They frantically called out seeing as I was impatient.
“That’s good to know.” I said with a smirk as I took a few steps back and withdrew my menacing aura.
“I look forward to working with you.” I said before turning and walking out of the room with the person staring in my wake.
This is so gonna be fun.

I arrived at the coven the night before and was just recently given audience by the elders.
The coven was a place I hadn’t been to in a while mostly because I partially blamed the for the death of ‘Paula’s mother.’
They hadn’t saved her when she needed them the most and they only stripped her of her powers and left her out there to rot.
I had no choice now though as I had to seek their advice concerning Paula and her powers.
I explained to them all that had happened alongside the theory I had come up with concerning Paula’s peculiar condition. When I was done, I thought they would nod calmly and explain what they thought to me but i was shocked to see a look of panic overtake their features.
They turned to face each other and started whispering amidst themselves but soon all was silent as they turned to face me.
What they told me next shocked me to the core.
