Paula
At the garden, when I saw her collapsed on the ground after she appeared from nowhere, I had rushed into the house and started screaming for help. I was really flustered and frightened of the fact that she might possibly die. I may have not known her for a long time but I felt some sort of connection towards her and I didn’t want her to die at all.
Frankie came sprinting down soon after alongside Hawke and I immediately dragged them towards the garden without any explanations. I could see the look of worry on Frankie’s face but I didn’t really have the time to explain.
When we reached the garden, Akayla was lying where I had left her but I noticed that there was blood on the grass besides where she lay. I screamed and dashed towards her in panic and began to search for the source of the blood.
“No! No! No!” I chanted as I placed my hand on the deep cut that I noticed soon after.
It was bleeding terribly and it looked to be a dagger wound.
Who could have done this to Akayla?
I pressed as much as I could on the wound but I released it when a large palm enveloped mine and pulled it away.
I found that it was Frankie and he was looking at me with worry.
“What are you doing Frankie? She is going to bleed to death.” I yelled at him as tried to struggle out of his grip but he wasn’t budging.
“Calm down Paula!” he growled as he held on to one of my shoulders with his free hand.
“What do you mean calm down? Can’t you see that she is going to die if I don’t stop the bleeding? Let go of me!” I screamed at him as I gave up the futile struggling.
“That’s not what I mean Paula. I meant that you were pressing down on her wounds way too hard. At that rate, you will squeeze the blood out of her faster” he stated.
“What?”
“Yeah! You were pressing on it too hard. Besides Hawke is an expert on injuries so let him take over and treat her” Frankie said as he looked at where Akayla laid.
I followed his line of sight and found that she wasn’t bleeding anymore as Hawke had torn her shirt open and was adding some powdery substance to her wound.
The deep cut started forming leather and making a sizzling noise as if the skin beneath was being burnt. Akayla began groaning in pain and almost immediately, she began writhing and squirming.
“What’s wrong Frankie! What’s happening to her” I asked Frankie in panic without taking my eyes off her.
“Hawke! Stop! Can’t you see that she’s in pain!” I yelled as I tried to approach him.
Frankie held me back with a strong grip.
“Wait, calm down and observe,” Frankie asserted and I looked closely at Akayla.
Then surprisingly, when the leather stopped forming, the wound had closed up almost completely and she stopped squirming. She even looked like she was in a deep sleep as she was breathing evenly.
“Wow!” I gasped, nodding at Frankie and Hawke as I stared at her in relief and bewilderment.
“How is this possible? What exactly was that powdery substance and how was it able to close up the wound and stop the bleeding?” I asked as I looked up at Frankie for an explanation on what I just witnessed.
“Well, I will explain it all to you inside but let’s take her inside first and then you can also explain to me what happened” He said as he signaled to Hawke to carry Akayla inside.
As we walked inside, I kept looking back at Akayla in Hawke’s arms out of worry but I almost tripped on my own feet.
“Paula! Look forward please, don’t hurt yourself, Akayla will be alright” Frankie stated as he held my chin and turned my head forward.
I nodded and we continued walking till we got to a random room in the pack house that I had never been to before.
Hawke laid Akayla on the bed and went out soon after with the excuse of going to call a doctor. Frankie pulled out a chair for me and I sat down beside Akayla.
I stared at the unconscious Akayla that was laying on the bed of one of the rooms with battered and bruised body.
Sadness overwhelmed as I watched her lie on the bed and the only source of relief for now was the fact that she was still breathing.
I couldn’t understand how she was fine a few days ago and now she came back riddled with obvious signs of assault.
What exactly happened?
As if hearing my thoughts, Frankie asked “What Exactly happened?”
I sighed and turned to face him.
“I don’t really understand what happened myself as one minute I was relaxing in the garden and the next, she appeared this way in the garden,” I answered before I went on to recount everything that had happened in the garden in full detail to Frankie.
He didn’t speak for a while and when he did, all he could say was “I don’t really understand how this happened in the first place.”
“I also don’t but I am grateful that she is not bleeding anymore. Also, you haven’t told me what you added to her injury to make it heal up by itself.” I stated as I looked up at him with a raised brow.
“Oh! That is just stardust powder. It is a powder that was formulated by my pack to heal and subsidize the severity of injuries while on the battleground but it also has its limits.” He explained.
“Limits? What limits does it possess?” I inquired when he paused for a while.
“It can only be used once every six months because it is too strong. If you use it twice or more within that time frame, the repercussion will be dire. That is why it is only used in life and death situations.” He explained to me in a serious tone.
“Oh! I understand now. Thank you for using your pack treasure to save her, even with the fact that she is a witch” I said in gratitude but he just waved it off and said I didn’t need to be so formal.
“Since she is someone so dear to you, I am willing to use whatever resources in my capabilities to help her,” he uttered with his gaze fixated on mine.
My breathe caught in my throat as I was reminded even at this moment how breathtakingly sexy he looked.
“I don’t know what happened to her though. She suddenly disappeared for a few days without telling me where she went and suddenly, she just resurfaced with wounds and cuts all over her body. Where exactly had she been? Who did this to her?” I said as I thought out loud.
Frankie didn’t respond so I looked up at him and found that he was looking at me as if he was hesitating to say something.
He suddenly sighed deeply.
“Paula, there is something I have to tell you.” he said with a serious expression on his face.
Huh?
“What is it?” I inquired, genuinely confused as to why he became so serious all of a sudden.
What exactly did he have to tell me that caused him to look so troubled?
“Well, I know where Akayla had been or rather, where she went to” he blurted out as he looked away from me.
“What?” I questioned bewildered’
“What do you mean by that? You knew where Akayla had been all along? What exactly is going on here?” I asked as I stared straight at Frankie.
“Well…..” he trailed off as he was interrupted by a female voice.
“I went to the coven to get some answers”
Akayla.
I spun around quickly and found that she was awake and was trying to sit up. I leaned forward to help her up and once she was seated, I asked her what she was talking about.
“I went to the coven to go and inquire about your powers.”
“What?”
Hawke
Once I walked out of the room, I hurriedly paced into a random room and locked the door behind me.
“What is Akayla the most powerful witch in the wizard realm doing here and why is Frankie letting her stay despite the enmity between werewolves and witches?” I asked someone through the mind link.
I stayed still for a while as I listened to the information the person gave me and my eyes widened in shock.
“Wow! This is some really shocking news. Who would have thought that the Paula was in fact a witch? This just made my plans way easier.” I said with a smirk as I stared blankly ahead.
“I just can’t wait to see how this all plays out. This is so going to be fun.” I scowler before turning to leave.
