Frankie
I was currently standing a long distance from the room Akayla and Paula were chatting in.
I felt I needed to stay closer to ensure that the absence of any mishaps during my absence.
As I leaned against the wall and stared at nothing in particular, I suddenly heard signs of movement down the hallway to my right. The movement was coming from way past Akayla room. I looked up sharply as I tried to gauge the unknown intruder’s exact location.
I figured it was coming from the bend at the far end of the hallway so I ambled cautiously towards that direction.
There was a strange scent that was wafting across the air as I got closer. It was somewhat foul yet it enticed me in a way that made me want to keep going.
I found myself moving towards the scent in an haze. Everything seemed to become blurry yet I had yet thought in mind.
Go closer.
I could hear that voice as it was pushing me to go closer even though I was trying my utmost best to fight it.
“No! Stop!”
I tried to get my body to stop but it wasn’t listening. As I was nearing the bend, I spotted something, although blurry, staring back at me.
It was a pair of eyes.
It was a pair of red eyes.
They were totally dead and looked to be without spirit or soul.
I wasn’t scared but as a calculative person when it came to dealing with my enemy, I wanted to know what exactly I was facing.
I tried to focus to put a face on those pair of eyes but everything was too blurry.
I was already a few steps away and was about to turn the corner when I was pulled back.
I instinctively tried to flip the person over my shoulders but stopped once I heard the voice of the person the hand belonged to.
Paula
“Frankie! Calm down.”
I leaned against the wall and shook my head in an attempt to shake off the haze but it wasn’t working.
Everything was still blurry and it made my head spin.
I gritted my teeth and forced myself to focus on one familiar yet blurry figure.
“Paula! I am calm but I think I was hexed.”
“What? Hexed?”
“Yes, charmed. So please can you lead me towards where Akayla is? I can’t see clearly as everything is a bit blurry. Akayla might be able to fix my issue” I instructed Paula in a calm tone.
I knew not to panic as that would get me nowhere. The only thing that I could do was pray that Akayla had the power to help me.
Queen didn’t say anything for that thankfully and just hold my hand and lead me to what assumed was Achilles room.
Once in, I was led to a chair I assumed was the one Paula was seating in previously as I could see another sitting figure.
“What happened?”
“I think I was charmed because one minute I was waiting for you guys to be done and the next I found my whole body moving towards a scent at the end of the hallway” I explained.
“I found out I could not even control my body. Also, a pair of red eyes was staring at me from the end of the hallway. I couldn’t put a face to it because everything was blurry but I could see those eyes as clear as day.” I continued, trying to explain as much as I could from that encounter.
“Now my blurry vision is still not clearing up”
“Well, I can’t say I know exactly what’s going on but I think I have an idea.” She replied.
She motioned for me to lean in closer and when I did, she placed both her palms on my eyes.
She muttered something that was incoherent. I want she removed her palms for my face too bright light from the rays of sun peeping through the window gave me a smack in the face.
I shielded my eyes and rubbed It till it was finally very clear.
Once it was, I looked up at the worried face of Paula and nodded to assure her that I was alright.
She nodded back even when I could still see the look of worry on her face.
I sighed then turned to face Akayla.
“Mind explaining what that was to me?”
“That was obviously something you are well versed in, seeing as you were able to cure me.” I emphasized with narrowed eyes.
“Well I was able to cure you because I had come across this kind of situation multiple times before. You see, there is a particular potion that can be brewed to entice a person. The thing here is that, to be brewed, the potion requires a large amount of power.” She explained.
“This power is not what one can see in a regular witch. I have been coming across cases like this in recent years. The stench from the potion is always the same and if the ritual is completed,it always leaves the victim without a face and any eyes.”
“Their eyes always ends up being plucked out and their face scraped off. Only a few had survived but they were all left with permanent blindness.” She stated as she emphasized the word permanent.
“Then why was my case different? Why were you able to cure me?”
“From what I remember, I could see clearly, it was just really blurry and unfocused.”
“Yes your case is different because this potion cannot permanently affect you in any way seeing as you are immune to our powers. The only reason why this one worked was because it was a really strong potion. I noticed that it may temporarily incapacitate you but it would always clears up soon after.Do you think that if our potions were able to affect you, we wouldn’t have won that war? This is why I detested you and your wits.”
“Even without my help, you would have been able to see after an hour or so. I just sped up the process is all.” She finished off.
“Wow! I never really noticed that. How is this possible though? All werewolves are affected by magic and that even includes my father. This is all so confusing.”
“Well, I am not sure of that as it has always been unheard of till you came along. That intruder probably also suspected that she couldn’t do anything to you and just wanted to test it out.”
“What? I was a test subject for some weirdo?” I asked furiously.
“There is nothing to be angry about as the intruder is long gone. The issue is now how you described the person” She said as she held on to her chin and started stroking it.
“What’s wrong with the way I described the intruder?”
“Well for one, we have come to the conclusion that the person is a witch, a powerful one at that, seeing as they were able to brew the potion and control it. The issue Is that I have never heard of witches with red eyes that are soulless. So what or who exactly Is this thing?”
“I don’t know but all I know is that for her to be able to get into my pack house undetected and even hex me, they must be a very powerful being and that is a danger to all.”
I looked at Paula and frowned when I noticed she was looking uneasy.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well…. I don’t really know how to say this since you think powerful beings are a danger to all.”
My frown deepened as confusion washed over me.
“Yeah but what does that have to do with what you want to say?”
“Well… Everything seeing as I am one.” She replied.
“One what? I am lost and confused on what you are saying.”
“I am an extremely powerful being.” She blurted.
“What? What do you mean? I thought you were an half witch. What is going on ”
“In short, I am an ancient witch or the reincarnation of one.”
“What?”
NARRATOR
“Well mistress, how did it go?” The old woman asked the cloaked woman as she stepped back into the room.
“It was just as I suspected.”
“So what are you going to do now? This could have driven her to her end.” The old woman muttered with her head bowed in respect.
The cloaked woman smirked.
“As I said, we are having a family reunion. It’s time my daughter met her mother. I am going to come back from the dead.”
