Frankie
I was currently sitting besides the bed in my room as I watched Paula sleep rather peacefully which was a total contrast from how she was earlier.
Today had been a rollercoaster of emotions, craziness and surprising events that ended up being tragic and bad news. I was at my wits end with all the events that went down today.
Firstly, it was the sudden and immoral dumping of Anne’s body in front of the pack house followed by the revelation that she was working for Xayden all along.
That news in itself devastated me immensely and I couldn’t believe I could trust someone to the extent that I couldn’t even decipher if they were good or bad. I had decided that to make sure I never repeat such a mistake, I would not trust anyone fully anymore, friend or foe. I would make sure not to allow what happened with Anne repeat itself ever again.
It was time I became the strong and ruthless Alpha I once was.
For myself, Paula and her unborn baby.
I was going to do anything in my power to keep Paula safe and that would start with uprooting all the pests that were in my pack. Spies, Aides and possible Abettors of Xayden in his plans would be uprooted and removed to further prevent any accidents from occurring.
It was time I used the title I had to myself.
Secondly, there was also the issue of Paula’s evil ancient side that was fighting or control and dominance. I needed to figure out how to tackle that issue as the thought of Paula losing and becoming evil was something I have never imagined. I was sure that she wouldn’t wasn’t to lose control over her body and be forced to do things she would never have done.
I myself would accept her no matter what form she took but the damage she would cause would be staggering. The very thought of that was enough to terrify anyone.
I stared at her as she looked so peaceful and beautiful.
She had fainted immediately her alter ego had made itself known as well as once it had informed every one of the carnages it would spread should it take dominance.
At that time, had felt the invisible aura that Paula was exuding as well as the telltale of the power that she had locked inside.
I reached forward and stroked her forehead as she slept. She looked worn out and tired and that made my heart ache. She had gone through a lot in her life and I wanted to do anything I could to obliterate her pain and worries. I wanted to share in her burdens but she claimed that she wanted to fight her own battles and get stronger.
I wasn’t against that but I just wanted to help her in any way that I can.
As I was pondering while stroking her hair, I suddenly felt a cold wind blow past me that sent chills down my spine.
“What is that? I feel something happening” Black yelled at me inside my head.
“I can feel it too.” I replied as I got up and started looking around.
I checked every nook and cranny of the room but I didn’t find anything. I looked towards the windows and found that they were open but there was no wind coming from it.
‘Creak!’ I heard a sound coming from the exit door.
I sharply looked towards the door with narrowed eyes as my eyes began to turn yellow. Black was firing up and was ready to pounce on whoever or whatever was making that sound.
I growled lowly as I cautiously crept towards the door with the mind to tear apart anyone or anything that was standing there.
Once I got to the door, I turned the doorknob slowly and swung the door open.
Xayden
“That was in fact a show to watch don’t you think?” I asked as I sat down on the only chair that was in the room.
I was currently in the abandoned house that I had now unknowingly dubbed my meeting point for any of my spies or my Aides. Now I was currently talking with someone who I sacrificed a great deal to get to me.
Kayla.
Paula’s beloved mother.
I had gone to great lengths just to get her here seeing as after the whole incident I had caused, Frankie had tightened the security. He was also monitoring all suspicious activities that he felt had anything to do with me.
I laughed at his attempt to rid the pack house of people that I had planted a while back. Some of those people were already too deep into the way they ran the whole pack house. I just made them spy on all the activities of my brother that they could find without alerting him and reporting it all back to me.
I had devised an even crazier plan to sneak her out of the house. One that was not in the least bit obvious and was also guaranteed to be under the radar.
I had made sure that she was informed earlier of my request to meet her when there was utter chaos. She had agreed to cast a cloning spell to make sure that Akayla wouldn’t suspect a thing.
Not like she would have seeing as she didn’t know that Paula’s mother still had her powers.
That’s right!
The cunning bitch made everyone believe that she was still powerless and I had to give it to her that it was indeed a good call on her path. She would be able to perform magic and cast spells without ever being on the suspect list.
Once the spell was done, I had her disguise and replace the patrolling guard that was my person once they wanted to change shifts. There, other people were already waiting to switch outfits with her and once they did, they covertly led her here.
All this planning was something I had planned for days and I was sure that it would work. It was all a complicated process that I hoped would be worth it once she agreed to work with me.
“Yes, it was. I actually quite liked the chaos you caused over there. Although, I was not expecting that little brat to die yet so can you explain to me why that is so?” Kayla asked with a raised brow.
I was sure that with the way she was currently staring me down, she didn’t trust me in the least bit especially when she found out that I had killed my own partner immediately after using her especially since the person was my own mate.
“I know what you are thinking but hear me out here, okay? She was never truly my mate as she had never accepted me so I had no problem letting her go. Also, she was no longer of use to me seeing as she came up with that useless trojan horse plan only to fail woefully with it. Frankie and Paula got mated, so she was nothing more than a spectator alongside a thorn in my side.” I explained as I played with the arm of the chair.
“Besides, I didn’t expect that a powerful witch as your self would be cautious of being killed by your werewolf partner. That is rather absurd, don’t you think?” I questioned as I stared at her while raising my brow and smirking.
“I never said that I was scared. All the questions were just to be sure that I didn’t make the wrong decision by teaming up with someone who would later betray me when he sees fit. People like you are the ones to leave your ‘partners’ in the ditch ones the going gets rough. I need to weigh the pros and cons of working with you to see if it is all worth risking myself for. Besides, I am not really a fan of working with ‘werewolves’, especially ones with no plan or direction in mind.” She snapped with narrowed eyes as she looked at me with distaste.
“I never said anything about not having a plan” I announced rolling my eyes at her.
“What will it take to get you to join my team?” I asked once I saw that she was not in the least bit amused.
I was only lowering myself to the standards of a witch because I needed her for my grand plan. I didn’t need her exactly but I needed a powerful witch. So, once I heard that she still had her powers and she was willing to work for my side albeit through that bitch, I was pleased. I needed her.
Something I would never let her know.
“Hmmn…… Let me think it through.” She said as she strolled around the room and began touching all the dusty items and furniture.
I rolled my eyes at how she was toying with me.
We both knew that we needed each other either way and she was just playing hard to get.
“Well, on a normal I would have not agreed to compromise on my decision at all but seeing as you so desperately need me, I will try to hear you out.” she announced coyly.
“Speak clearly. What do you want exactly? What do you mean by you will hear me out?” I asked annoyed.
“Oh. I meant your so-called plan. I want to hear it. If it is worth it, I will consider helping you on your goals” she suddenly announced.
“Okay then. So, I……..”
