"𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨."
"nice try."
y/n said as she sped past todoroki. she easily got past the ice he covered the entrance of the obstacle course with. "ice isn't really good against fire." she explained as she ran backward with a small flame visible in her palm.
todoroki glared at her and tried to catch up, but she faced forward and used her air to propel herself farther. unfortunately, giant robots prevented her from getting any farther. "damn it." she muttered before thinking of a way she could get past them.
she was about to make them malfunction by pouring water in their sockets, but todoroki froze them before she could do anything. "ok, that works i guess." she ran after the dual-haired boy and made it past the robot before it lost its balance and fell.
the sound of explosions and screaming made her turn around and see the one and only katsuki bakugo. "great now i have to deal with him." she sighed and continued forward.
she stopped at the next obstacle. a crater and you only have ropes to cross it. she thought of a way to get over it. "this'll be easy." she said aloud before a massive gust of wind lifted her off the ground and she was on the other side of the crater in no time.
"hey!" bakugo shouted out to her, but she paid him no mind and kept going. she reached the minefield and saw that todoroki was cautiously making his way across. "nature bitch!" bakugo called out trying to get the girl's attention for a second time. once again she ignored him and used the wind to hover over the minefield.
her plan was working and she ended up next to todoroki. "i'm gonna win~". she sang as she looked over at the boy. he looked at her and said, "in your dreams."
y/n would try to push todoroki over a couple of times and he would do the same, but the two were able to avoid the mines as they grew closer to the end of the field. soon after, the chance of a victory started to fade away as an angry bakugo was above the two.
"neither of you are going to make it before me!" he shouted as he tried to advance past them, but y/n shot some water at him which caused him to lose his balance in the sky and fall. "fuck!" bakugo cursed as he fell. as he was making his way down, he reached out for something to cling to and just so happened to grab the back of todoroki's jacket. the force of bakugo falling made the half and half boy fall as well.
y/n snickered to herself as she watched the boys struggle to get back up, then continued to make her way towards the exit. she was close, but an explosion louder than bakugos, went off, causing a whole bunch of mines to be set off at once and there was a huge puff of pink smoke with something no, someone flying through it.
"huh?" y/n questioned as she watched the figure grow closer. "midoriya!?" the greenette flew forward on a piece of scrap metal, not knowing how to slow down, he kicked the makeshift board off of bakugos and todorokis faces causing the two boys to fall again.
realizing the situation at hand, y/n turned towards the exit again and ran forgetting all about the mines that she might set off. unfortunately, midoriya made it before she did and was in first place. she was in second. todoroki in third. bakugo in fourth and he wasn't so happy about that.
"fourth?!" he shouted as he huffed and puffed.
"it's better than being 20th." kirishima said as he walked past the ash-blonde. the redhead's attempt at reassurance didn't help as bakugo just got angrier. he was about to go off on kirishima, but y/n stepped in front of him. "just calm down bakugo. we have more games to do."
"tch, yea whatever." he grumbled and walked away.
all of the students who passed the first game, stood in front of the stage that midnight stood on and waited for the next instructions. "the next game is..." midnight said as the spinning wheel moved, and eventually it slowed to a stop. "...a cavalry battle!"
midnight then proceeded to explain how it would work and how the place that you got in the obstacle course would determine how many points you had. the person in first place having the most. everyone glared at the frightened freckled-faced boy as he looked around at his peers.
"sucks to be him." tobio said as he walked up to y/n. she nodded. "yea" tobio looked towards y/n. "want to be teammates?"
"of course. we need two more people though."
the pair looked around at all the students not sure who to pick. y/n saw ochaco talking to midoriya and assumed that the brunette had already made her choice. y/n then looked over and made eye contact with bakugo and he soon made his way over to her. "you're on my team." he spoke once he was in front of her.
tobio scrunched up his nose like he smelt something stinky. "we're already a team." bakugo looked over at the boy with an uninterested look in his eyes. "does it look like i care?"
"you want to say that again you ugly pomeranian!"
"i said i don't care."
y/n stepped between the two hotheaded boys and held her hands out. "calm down it's too early for this and bakugo i'll only join if tobio can as well." kirishima then came up behind bakugo with sero and mina in tow. "look bakugo, i found two more people."
y/n looked between him and bakugo. "looks like you don't need me." then turned around and dragged tobio, who was glaring at the ash-blonde, towards ochaco and midoriya. "ochaco!" she called out once the brunette was in view.
uraraka turned around and waved at her two friends. "hi, do you guys want to join us?" she asked. y/n nodded and so did tobio. "awesome! we have a full team now deku!" the flustered boy smiled sheepishly. "thank you."
"of course." y/n replied.
"we are going to win! right y/n?" tobio said as he put an arm around the h/c haired girl's shoulders. she nodded. "totally." todoroki watched from afar as y/n talked to her teammates not realizing that momo was calling his name. "todoroki!" he blinked and looked at her with a raised brow.
"i think we should go over the strategy once more. what do you think?" she asked. "uh yea, we can." he nodded. "ok, so kaminari-" todoroki listened to what she was saying and pushed thoughts about y/n into the back of his mind.
after the 15 minutes were up, midnight announced the start of the game, everyone put their headbands on and got into position. on midoriya's team, he was the rider, tobio was the horse, ochaco on the left, and y/n on the right.
the timer counted down and once it hit 1, the game started and almost everyone rushed towards midoriya's team. "i'm not surprised, but damn we didn't even get to breathe." y/n said.
"you can say that again." tobio agreed.
"ok, uraraka you can make us float and l/n you can direct us in the right direction with air right?" midoriya asked and they nodded. "great."
"and i'll defend with smoke." tobio said.
"yup. once they get close, we can start the plan."
the team waited for the perfect minute then ochaco floated everyone and y/n shot gust of wind out to keep them inside the barriers. "it worked!" uraraka exclaimed as they landed on the other side of the field. "hell yea!" tobio cheered as well.
"we're not done yet." y/n said when she saw todoroki's team advance towards them. "if he uses his ice, i can melt it with my fire."
"what if he uses his fire?" tobio asked.
"he's not." y/n replied. she remembered what he had told her about his left side and how he vowed to never use it. shortly after, ice started to cover the ground, but y/n melted it before it could touch her group.
"didn't i tell you that ice is useless against fire?" y/n shouted at the dual-haired boy causing him to furrow his brows in anger. momo then notified him that she finished making what they needed and he gave kaminari the go-ahead to release his electricity.
noticing what was about to happen, tobio created a wall of smoke that blocked the electricity from hitting them. the force still pushed them back a little, but they didn't get hurt like the other students. "awesome! thanks, yamada!" midoriya exclaimed and tobio put a thumbs up in response.
kaminari was now out of commission, so todoroki's team was weakened. "we can take this opportun-." y/n was cut off when iida sprinted faster than before and grabbed the headband from midoriya's head.
"give that back you beefy sonic!" tobio shouted out.
"how did that happen?" ochaco questioned.
"i don't know." y/n said.
"we have to get it back!" midoriya shouted. the team nodded and they rushed towards todoroki's team. the greenette activated his quirk and caught todoroki off guard which caused the half and half boy to use his fire side. the only people who notice however were midoriya and y/n.
since todoroki's defenses were down, midoriya was able to grab what he believed to be the ten million points headband. however, it was only worth seventy. "i grabbed the wrong one." he said once the team was at a safe distance from todoroki.
"that's ok, we have another chance." ochaco reassured him.
"damn you icy-hot!" a familiar voice yelled. everyone looked and saw that it was bakugo. y/n sighed. "of course he's here."
the three teams rushed towards each other, but the timer ran out before they could grab anything. midoriya was devastated thinking that they had lost, but when present mic announced that his team was in fourth place he started crying happy tears.
"how?!"
y/n held out a headband in one hand and a bird sat on her shoulder. "i don't think i told you this before, but i can control animals as well."
midoriya started crying some more as he thanked her. "thank you l/n!"
"no problem, midoriya."
midnight announced that it was time for lunch and everyone made their way to the cafeteria. y/n thought it'll be a good time to talk to todoroki, but couldn't find him anywhere. "hey ochaco and tobio, have you guys seen todoroki?" she asked once she had sat down at the table.
the two shook their heads no. "i haven't seen deku either." ochaco said."it's weird that they just up and disappeared like that." tobio added and the girls nodded. the three talked and ate while they waited for midoriya to appear.
"hey deku, where were you?" ochaco asked the green haired boy as he sat at the table. he started sweating not expecting to be instantly put on the spot like that. "u-uh, i was t-talking to someone. yea."
"calm down dude." tobio said as he handed him a paper towel to wipe the sweat from his face.
"r-right. thanks."
"midoriya." y/n looked at him.
"yes?"
"do you know where todoroki is?" midoriya started to sweat again. "n-no. i mean yes." y/n knitted her eyebrows together. "yes or no?"
"y-yea." he looked over her shoulder and pointed. "he's... right over there."
y/n turned around and saw that todoroki was indeed standing in the direction that midoriya pointed in. she turned back around said, "thanks." then got up and made her way over to the half and half boy.
"so she's just gonna leave her lunch?" tobio asked as he looked at her now vacant spot. "i guess so." ochaco replied.
y/n and shoto were now in a hallway where they wouldn't be noticed. it's the same hallway where he had told midoriya about his past not too long ago. y/n spoke first.
"what are we?"
the half and half boy was confused by what she meant. "humans?" he questioned.
she rubbed her forehead and sighed, not surprised by his answer. "no todoroki, i mean you and me. what are we? friends? or more?"
he understood now. "oh l/n, we're classmates."
"classmates that kiss?"
"i kind of forgot that happened to be honest."
she wanted to punch him, but maintained her cool. "you forgot? so those feelings you were feeling in your stomach are just gone?"
"i'm sorry."
"you're sorry? i don't want your fake ass excuse of an apology."
"what do you want then?"
"are you that fucking dense?" she stepped closer to
him. "i want you to tell me that what you felt was real."
she stepped again.
"tell me that the kiss was real."
and again
"tell me that you want to be mine as much as i want to be yours."
she had subconsciously got close enough to feel the two different temperatures that were radiating off of him.
"that's what you want huh?" todoroki questioned with a raised brow. she nodded. he leaned towards her making their faces less than an inch apart. "i can't say i feel the same."
"huh!?" she stepped back and stared up/down at the boy in disbelief. "so that was a one-time thing. i'm so dumb for thinking that we could be something."
"i can't believe i.." she paused and looked down. "i can't believe i let you take my first kiss. fuck this and fuck you todoroki." she stomped out of the hallway and made her way back to the rest of her classmates.
todoroki watched her leave and thought about what had just happened. the pain he saw in y/n's eyes before she left made him question if he made a mistake.
everyone was back on the field and the girls of 1-a, except for y/n, were wearing cheerleading uniforms. the h/c haired girl was confused about the situation but was grateful that she wasn't forced into one.
"i was tricked!" momo yelled as she fell to the ground. ochaco saw the confused state of her friend, so she told her about how mineta and kaminari tricked them. "that's fucked up." y/n said in response and the brunette nodded in agreement.
"so did you guys kiss?" ochaco asked as she wiggled her eyebrow at her friend. y/n realized that she was talking about her and todoroki and shook her head before speaking. "far from it."
"so, you're not getting married?"
"nope."
"well, that's his fault. fuck men!" ochaco enthused as she shook one of the pom-poms she was holding. "that's the spirit ochaco!" mina said as she shook her pom-poms as well. the boys stood there slightly hurt and confused.
"wait i'm excluded from that right?" tobio asked as he walked up to his two friends.
"of course."
"nice. wait why were you saying that in the first place?"
ochaco stood on her tippy toes and whispered in his ear. "a certain half cold half hot boy is stupid and rejected y/n."
tobio stood there for a minute then turned around and rushed towards the half and half boy. "oi, scarface!" he yelled out causing todoroki to turn around with a raised brow. "oh no." ochaco ran after him. y/n watched as the brunette tried to stop tobio from hurting todoroki and shook her head as she smiled to herself. "that's tobio for you."
tobio had calmed down, but he was still shooting glares at todoroki every once and a while. midnight told them that before the final round, they would be having recreational side games that were optional. before the students were set off to do as they pleased, they were told that the final event is 1v1 battles.
the screen showed who would be going against who. y/n felt like she could easily beat her opponent, who just so happened to be, "kaminari." she said as she saw the electric blonde walk up to her.
"don't take this personally, but i will be respectfully beating your ass." kaminari said with a smirk. "no i think it's the other way around, but i'll be doing it disrespectfully." she smiled at him.
"oh? i like a woman who can beat my ass."
"please, go touch some grass." she laughed.
"i'd rather touch that a-"
"finish the sentence kaminari." tobio said as he stood behind y/n while glaring at the flirtatious blonde. if looks could kill, kaminari would be 6ft under. "the bible. i said the bible." kaminari said as he ran away.
y/n laughed as she turned around and looked up/down at tobio. "what was the reason?"
"i didn't like what he was saying."
"right, like you've never said anything about my ass before."
"wha- i've never. you're lying."
"sure." she patted his shoulder then walked over to ochaco. "i see you're up against the explosive boy."
"yea." ochaco said as she bit her fingernails. "he didn't even know how i was."
y/n furrowed her brows and moved the brunette's hand from her mouth. "that doesn't matter because you're going to beat his ass so bad that your name is the only thing he'll remember."
"thanks, but i'm not too sure about that."
"well, i am."
"and so am i!" tobio exclaimed as he walked over to them. "give him hell ochaco!"
"ok i'll try." ochaco said with a little more confidence. "who are you guys up against?"
"kaminari."
"someone named shiozaki."
"well, whoever it is i believe in you and you as well y/n."
the two thanked her, then ochaco went to go change back into her u.a. uniform. the trio decided to just sit and talk instead of participating in the recreational games and in no time, the break was over and the 1v1 battles began.
