The celebration party was, as always, lively and joyful. Though it was just a simple family gathering, everyone's face was beaming with happiness and contentment.
Veronica, Joshua, Gabriel, Leonardo, and Chase had reunited once again, as if time had left no mark on them. Unlike last time, there was a new face at this celebration party, Matthew.
No matter how deep the misunderstandings and disputes had been among them before, they all seemed to dissolve quietly amidst the laughter and cheerful conversation.
At the dining table, everyone raised their glasses and drank heartily, with laughter echoing continuously. It was as if the past conflicts and estrangements were being washed away by the rich wine, gradually dissipating into the air with each swallow.
Each person wore a relaxed and delighted smile, and the once intense arguments and quarrels seemed insignificant at this moment.
Topics flowed around the table, from everyday trivialities to amusing battlefield stories, and then to hopes and plans for the future. Everyone spoke freely, as if their souls were truly communicating and blending in this moment.
Under the influence of alcohol, people's emotions became even more relaxed, and past grievances gradually vanished in the laughter.
After several rounds of drinks and a variety of dishes, no one seemed to want to leave. This gathering was not only to celebrate Chase's triumphant return but also to cherish this rare opportunity to be together. Satisfied and joyful smiles lit up everyone's faces.
The past conflicts and disputes truly seemed to have been swallowed up by the laughter and conversation, becoming a beautiful memory in everyone's hearts.
Chase suddenly stood up with his glass in hand, his movement so swift that it was almost imperceptible. His face was filled with excitement and determination as he stared resolutely at Leonardo, as if trying to defeat him with his eyes alone.
Chase spoke loudly, "Leonardo, I told you I'd outdo you." His words were brimming with a competitive spirit, as if he were pouring all his energy into them.
Leonardo looked at Chase and couldn't help but smile. He wasn't angry; instead, he felt a sense of appreciation and tolerance. He shook his head gently and replied, "Alright, you're the best."
Leonardo's words conveyed a sense of ease and nonchalance, as if he didn't take Chase's challenge seriously. He knew that Chase, with his straightforward personality, loved to compete.
While Chase was forthright, he was also talented and full of potential. With proper guidance, he would surely achieve greater things.
Chase raised his glass, his gaze firm and passionate, as if the drink held his ambitions. He took a deep breath and then drank it all in one go, the wine disappearing from his glass in an instant.
After putting down his glass, Chase's eyes became a bit dazed. He stared intently at Leonardo, who was sitting opposite him, his eyes reflecting an indescribable determination.
"Leonardo, drink up," Chase said forcefully, startling those around him who were already a bit tipsy.
Leonardo was taken aback for a moment, then picked up his glass. He glanced at Chase, who laughed heartily, his voice loud and magnetic. "You're not backing down now, are you, Leonardo?"
His words were teasing, and his laughter exuded an ineffable sense of boldness and carefreeness. His dazzling silver hair shone brightly under the light, as if coated with a golden glow. His brilliant smile and radiant hair complemented each other perfectly.
Leonardo, mimicking Chase, took a deep breath and drank the wine in one gulp.
Chase let out another hearty laugh, clapping his hands forcefully on the table. The applause was thunderous, vibrating the surrounding air.
However, before the laughter had fully faded, Chase suddenly tilted his head and, like a puppet that had lost its support, collapsed onto the table, motionless.
Everyone was stunned. Their smiles hadn't yet faded when this unexpected turn of events disrupted the rhythm of the evening.
Veronica was the first to regain her composure. She spoke softly, "Chase must be drunk. Leonardo, go check on him and help him back to his room to rest."
Leonardo nodded and quickly moved to Chase's side. Chase had already fallen into a deep sleep, his breathing now heavy.
Leonardo gently shook his shoulders, trying to wake him up, but Chase remained unresponsive. Leonardo sighed helplessly and had to bend down, struggling to lift Chase up.
Joshua stood up, brushed the dust off the corners of his clothes, and said, "Everyone's had enough to drink. Let's call it a night. It's getting late, and we have things to do tomorrow. Get some rest early."
Joshua's eyes were clear, and his steps were steady and strong, showing no signs that he had been drinking and having fun earlier.
Veronica nodded in agreement. She rubbed her slightly sore eyes, yawned, and said, "Yeah, I'm feeling tired. Let's all head back and get some rest." She turned and walked toward her room.
The others watched her leave. Though no one said anything, they all understood each other's thoughts. The night deepened, the alcohol wore off, and all that was left was the quiet of the night.
Veronica had just returned to her room, freshened up, and was about to enjoy a peaceful pre-sleep moment when the door suddenly swung open with a loud bang, and a figure crashed in as if it were an out-of-control projectile.
Veronica was startled by the sudden noise, her heart racing. She got out of bed and cautiously walked over to see who the clumsy intruder was.
As she squatted down to lift the person's face, the figure seemed to sense her movement and abruptly raised its head, revealing a familiar face. It was Chase.
No one else would be this reckless. Veronica couldn't help but recall the first time she had seen Chase in his human form. He was as handsome as Joshua, but he had immediately hugged her and sweetly called her Mistress the moment they met.
Veronica lightly poked Chase's forehead with her finger and shook her head with a sense of helplessness. "Chase, why are you still so clumsy?" She assumed Chase must have come to her room to cause a drunken scene.
Veronica was about to call someone to take Chase away so he wouldn't make a fuss when, suddenly, Chase grabbed her hand. "Mistress," he cried out in a voice choked with emotion. "Don't leave." His voice was filled with helplessness and attachment.
Upon seeing Chase's pitiful expression, Veronica's heart softened. Though Chase was usually carefree, he actually had a very fragile inner self.
She gently patted his hand and spoke softly. "Chase, don't be afraid. I'm here. Get up first. I'll get you some sobering medicine."
Chase's voice trembled slightly as he pleaded, "No, Mistress, please, don't go." His words revealed his deep attachment and reluctance to part with Veronica, as if he would lose everything if she left.
Chase got up from the floor, bent his knees, and knelt in front of Veronica. He carefully took her hand in his and pressed it against his cheek, letting Veronica feel the tears streaming down his face.
Chase's tears flowed unrestrainedly, sliding down his cheeks and dripping onto the floor, splashing into tiny droplets. It seemed as if he was using the alcohol as an excuse to pour out his endless grievances.
