Freda’s POV
It was a message from alpha Levi.
This cold-blooded hypocrite had been trying to contact me for days by pretending to be worried about me and now he finally couldn’t take it anymore. He was threatening me and used my mother to force me to go back. Even though this was just a text, I could imagine how angry and patronizing he was when he wrote it. He said that as long as I went back to the Greenwald Estate, he would tell me the truth about my mother’s suicide.
I had put the picture and letter in a safe place in my bedroom.
“What’s wrong?” Allen asked concernedly when he saw the upset look on my face.
“I need to pay a visit to the Greenwald Estate,” my heart was pretty heavy and I was feeling really down right now, “there are some things I need to figure out and I wanna put an end to this for good.”
Allen rubbed my hair gently and stopped asking. He reminded me in a calm tone, “Bring your guardians with you and don’t say no to me, or else I’ll go with you myself.”
“…Fine.”
I knew what happened in the forest scared him a little and he would definitely send more guardians. Though I defeated Natasha unharmed and successfully finished the surgery, I knew I wouldn’t have been able to make it and even ruined Allen’s surgery if it weren’t for Kent’s help. Although it was kind of inconvenient to bring a lot of people with me, I didn’t turn him down. Who knew what Levi would do when he was irritated? Plus, Susan was also there. I wouldn’t try to be the hero at this point or else I would bring Allen a lot of trouble and give him a headache.
“Is there something else that you need?”
“Yes.”
Allen paid all his attention to what I was gonna say.
“Stay at home and wait for me. Don’t overtrain yourself though I know you’ve been doing great recently,” I looked him right in the eyes and said, “I’m saying this to both you and Kent. I know you can’t wait to begin training harder now. Don’t you even think about starting combat training while I’m not home.”
“…”
“You’re telling me that’s not on your mind?”
Allen’s eyes shimmered and then said, “…You’re right. But I’ve recovered pretty well so far and there’s nothing wrong with me physically now.”
“So you don’t believe in your attending doctor now?” I raised my eyebrows.
“I do,” Allen compromised.
“Then just stick to the schedule and don’t overtrain behind my back. You already worked out too much yesterday,” I didn’t realize what I said was a bit misleading until I finished and it sounded like the workout he overdid was our sex last night so I tried to act cool and continued, “you overdid it yesterday and you have to stick to the schedule from now on. You can do a suitable amount of combat training but don’t get carried away and lose track of time.”
Oh, I felt like I was being a rambling grandma right now.
But Allen patiently heard me out and smiled, “Roger that, Dr. Freda.”
This little interlude lightened up my mood a little and I wasn’t feeling so annoyed anymore.
“Do you need my help with this?” Allen asked again, “I’m asking as your mate, not your patient.”
I thought for a while about the letter and picture I left in the bedroom and finally said, “Yeah, I want you to find out what exactly happened to my mother. Did she really commit suicide? To be honest, I have so many doubts and I’m really confused. But it’s the past of the Fullmoon Pack and it’s gonna be a little difficult to dig in.”
“Don’t underestimate the Midnight Claws Pack,” Allen said calmly as if this was just a piece of cake for him.
Yeah, he was the legendary almighty alpha Allen, for god’s sake.
“Then I’ll leave this to you, my alpha.”
The way I referred to him made him smile.
Third-person POV
In The Fullmoon Pack.
Olivia was really nervous right now. She crossed her hands on her stomach and acted submissive. But her nails were digging into the back of her hands and left some deep, red marks. She had lost contact with Natasha for too long and Freda had also gone missing. She heard that Freda’s slutty witch friend suddenly went on a vacation and Levi finally realized something was off. He sent people to search for Natasha but someone saw that she went to look for Natasha the night before she went missing. So Olivia just blamed Natasha’s missing on Freda.
She couldn’t let Levi know that Natasha might go to see that sleazy son of the Andrews family even though he came from a prestigious family. But Levi must have preferred the marriage contract with the Lunarko family. However, Olivia was still feeling restless for some reason.
Where was Natasha? Was she really at Andrew’s place? Olivia started wondering about that but she could feel that Natasha was still alive.
“…Olivia! Olivia!”
The yelling brought Olivia back to her senses and Levi was looking at her angrily, “what are you thinking?”
“I’m…I’m just worried about Natasha, Levi.” She wasn’t actually lying.
“Is Freda really the reason why Natasha vanished? Is there something you’re hiding from me, Olivia?” Levi asked tentatively.
These days, Olivia could feel Levi had grown more and more distrustful of her. She hastily started biting her lip and playing the victim, “You heard me, Natasha went to see Freda the day she went missing and then I lost contact with her. At first, I thought she went for a walk but I haven’t heard from her for days…Natasha has always been a good girl and never let us worry about her. Levi, you’re the one who should know better, right? I’m worried that Freda might seek revenge on her because of what happened before. She hates her guts.”
“That day, Natasha got injured by Freda because she tried to protect Mrs. Susan. She won’t have mercy on Natasha and that terrifies me, Levi.”
Levi’s wrath cooled off and he did like Natasha better than the cold Freda. But he thought for a while and asked, “Why did Natasha go to look for Freda that day?”
Of course Olivia wouldn’t tell Levi what was on her mind. She pondered for some time and said slowly, “I think she went to apologize to Freda. Natasha tried so hard and found the former Luna’s necklace. Natasha’s been feeling down and sad recently because Carl has been neglecting her and Mrs. Susan got hurt that day. She told me in private that if Carl doesn’t wanna marry her anymore, she’s willing to beg Freda to come back and let her be Carl’s bride. She’s willing to back off for the sake of the Fullmoon Pack and the Greenwald family.”
Hearing that, Levi started feeling bad for her. Though he was still wearing a long face, his attitude changed as he patted Olivia’s hand, “Don’t worry. Once Freda sees my text, she’ll definitely come back and then we’ll know where Natasha is.”
“Really? She’s coming back?”
“Yes,” Levi said, “her mother is her weak spot and I know she will come back.”
“Good,” Olivia wiped off her tears and said, “Freda can have whatever she wants. All I want is my Natasha to come back. She’s our only daughter and she’s such a sweetheart…”
She began weeping but there was no way to tell if she was acting or not.
“Rest assured, Natasha’s definitely gonna be alright,” Levi put her head on his shoulder and comforted her but then his eyes darkened resentfully, “but if Freda is really that cruel, then I’ll…”
Olivia looked up at Levi in tears.
“What will you do, alpha?”
“I’ll take care of her myself.”
The second he said that, the door was pushed open and someone chuckled frigidly.
They turned around and saw Freda. There were contempt and sarcasm on her face and she looked intimidating. For some reason, Levi was shocked and didn’t know what to say when he saw Freda like this and felt like she had become a complete stranger.
And Olivia couldn’t be so cocky anymore and was petrified. She didn’t even dare to look Freda in the eyes and had no idea why she would feel this way.
“Lau…Freda…”
