Freda POV
Levi seemed to be caught up in the middle. He paused a sec before he continued, “Freda, I know this marriage with the Blood Moon Pack was made by your mother and Natasha shouldn’t have done this to you. It’s all her fault but now that she’s pregnant, I think it’s best if we pretend that Natasha is the one who got engaged with Carl.”
“After all, she’s also a daughter of the Greenwald family,” Levi looked at me with a trace of guilt, “I’ve warned Natasha before and now there’s no way to stop her since she’s already pregnant. Freda, you don’t wanna marry Carl now anyway, right?”
I almost laughed when I heard what he just said. He was still finding excuses for his precious little princess now and even said such despicable things to me.
“So this is your answer, alpha Levi?” I stopped calling him father because he never treated me as his own daughter anyway.
After my mother passed away, my grandmother from my mother’s side raised me and I had never spent any time with my father when I was little. When I grew up, he finally took me home but he had already brought Olivia and my stepsister who was only six months younger than me to the house. I had always felt like an outsider here.
Levi loved Natasha so much that he thought his little daughter could do nothing wrong. She was sweet, docile, obedient and always knew what to say to please them.
But I was the one who was always rebellious and distant. I never felt close to him and I knew he didn’t like me. But when I once again felt his preference for Natasha again, I still felt quite awful.
Hearing my answer, Levi frowned, “Freda! I know you’re upset about this but since Natasha is the one Carl loves and she’s already pregnant, it’s only logical to let them get married!”
”Why would I do that for them?” I laughed out of rage, “it’s none of my business that she’s pregnant. If she wants to be a mistress like her mother, It’s fine by me.”
“Freda!” Levi shouted with Carl, who finally put his clothes on and went downstairs, at the same time.
“How could you be so vicious!” Carl was furious.
I tried hard to hold back my urge to tear him apart right now and sneered, “I’m vicious? How about I let this out? Let’s see if the pack and your father are willing to give you their blessings or not.
Most of the people of the federation knew that there was an engagement between the Blood Moon Pack and the Fullmoon Pack and Carl’s father always wanted me to be the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack. If I gave out the news about Natasha seducing Carl and getting herself pregnant, then everyone would point their fingers at Natasha and Carl.
Carl suddenly choked and wasn’t so macho anymore. He bit his lips and said in a deep voice, “Freda, Natasha needs more caring and loving than you do. You’re a strong woman and you’ll be better off without this engagement.”
Me being a strong woman was the reason why I should let Natasha do this to me over and over again?
Natasha had been hiding behind Carl and she suddenly tugged his sleeve, weeping, “Carl, my love, I’ve never thought about being the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack and stealing my sister’s fiancé. But I can’t just give this baby up and let this poor baby grow up without his father…”
Carl couldn’t take it anymore and patted her hand to comfort her. He said firmly, “Freda, I’m not gonna marry you. I’ll talk to my father and beg him to drop this engagement. Please don’t blame it on Natasha.”
“I’m sorry, Freda, it’s all my fault…” Natasha started apologizing to me in tears, “if you wanna punish me, I’m fine with that.”
Natasha had pulled these tricks so many times. She was good at winning men’s hearts by tears.
I just stood there and watched. I bit my tongue and saw that Carl and Levi were feeling sorry for her from the look on their faces.
Levi patted me on my shoulder and said, “Freda, I’ll talk to the Blood Moon Pack. Don’t take it personally. It is what it is. Just let Natasha and Carl get married. Your sister doesn’t have the right to be an heir anyway. Just let her win this time and I’ll find you a better fiancé.”
After my mother was gone, I became the sole heir of the Greenwald family under my grandfather’s demand. The only reason why Natasha and her mother Olivia could be brought to the Greenwald manor was that they didn’t have the right of inheritance.
But all these years, Levi had been asking me to tolerate them and give all those beautiful dresses, precious jewelries and even my fiancé to Natasha.
I looked right into Levi’s eyes, which were blue like the ocean like mine. But I felt like I was staring at a complete stranger.
Father.
How ironic was that?
I laughed, “You think I’ll feel sad just because of that trashy bitch?”
The atmosphere became frigidly awkward and Levi’s face went grim, “Freda…”
I coldly interrupted him, “Carl means nothing to me and I don’t care for him at all. He slept with Natasha and I feel sick when I look at him.”
”I won’t marry Carl but I’ll never acknowledge that Natasha is the one who has made an engagement with the Blood Moon Pack. You tell Alpha Hunter and the pack yourself.
I looked at those four standing in the living room. They looked like a family and I was just a stranger to them. Since I had got the answer from Levi, I didn’t want to stay here any longer. Even the air here smelled disgusting.
“Freda, don’t be mad…It’s all my fault, don’t blame it on father and Carl…”
Natasha followed me and then tripped over. She nearly fell down the stairs before Carl came to grab her and comforted her in his arms.
“Natasha, are you okay? Don’t mind her…,” said Carl.
“Natasha, are you hurt?” asked Levi concernedly.
I didn’t look back when I walked straight out of the manor and drove away. Before I left, I heard Natasha’s voice through our spiritual connection. She was bragging to me.
“See, Freda, they only care about me. Your family and your fiancé will all be mine.”
I looked in the rearview mirror and saw them all around Natasha, looking concerned. They looked like a loving family. My heart ran cold and the frigid breeze was running through my hair. I stopped looking and drove away.
This was not my home anymore.
Freda, open your eyes! Don’t feel sad about those bastards. That man wasn’t your father anymore since you were eight!
You’ll thrive even if you’re on your own now, Freda. I thought to myself.
I tried hard to convince myself.
He didn’t get to be my father anymore during the year when my mother took her own life.
