Freda POV
“These two bastards!” Mila said angrily, “I’m gonna go and beat the crap out of them! No, let me make some drugs and kill them straight!”
Soon, I knew what Mila was mad about.
Natasha went back to the Blood Moon Pack with Carl and his family. Today, she showed up in the company with Carl and smiled as she answered those reporters’ questions.
“Carl and I are truly in love with each other and our love is pure and innocent. I hope we can get everyone’s blessing and I wish that my sister Freda can’t stop being so obsessed with Carl. She should just move on with her life and pursue her own happiness.”
“Yeah, the engagement between Freda and me is just a joke that our parents made when we were little. After getting to know Natasha, I realized that Natasha is the one I wanna spend the rest of my life with. A loveless marriage won’t last long.”
In the video, they seemed pretty intimate and were holding hands as they smiled and answered the questions. But she could tell that they set the whole thing up.
“This is disgusting. I’m about to throw up now,” Mila roared, “they made their affair sound like true love. Good for them. Freda, why are you so quiet? Sorry, I shouldn’t have brought them up.”
“It’s okay. Don’t worry about that.” I was rather calm compared with Mila. I just found the whole thing ridiculous. I comforted her, “You know what kind of people they are. It’s alright, don’t be mad. I’ll handle it.”
“You’ve got a plan?” Mila finally cooled down a little.
“Yeah, I won’t just sit there and let them get on my nerve.”
“Fine, call me if you need anything.”
“Okay.”
After chatting with her for a while, I hung up the phone. If I saw that before I knew how Uncle Hunter and Levi felt about this, I might get angry and disappointed. But right now I was calm and wasn’t mad at all. Maybe it was because of Allen.
I didn’t feel so lonely when I was with him.
“You’ve still got me,” Cam said in my head.
“I know,” ever since I grew up, Cam and I had always been together, “we’re gonna stick together for the rest of our lives.”
This assuring and calming feeling made me want to help Allen find his wolf even more.
Cam was on the same page with me and she knew everything about the proposal last night, “You really shouldn’t have pushed him away last night. You have feelings for him and you know it. Freda, I think Mila is right. Maybe you should give Allen a chance and see what’s gonna happen. Maybe intimate relationships aren’t so terrifying. And I can sense that Allen’s wolf must be quite interesting.”
“You’re just interested in Allen’s big dick,” I said bluntly to her. I didn’t have to watch my language in front of her.
Cam honestly admitted it, “Yeah, I’m not gonna deny. Even if he won’t be your mate, having sex with such a sexy man must be very satisfying.”
“Oh, don’t you take control of my body and say this kind of thing again,” I warned Cam. What she said last night was out of line.
“Fine,” Cam finally became more serious about this, “Freda, I mean it, Allen’s a nice guy. I know you can feel how sincere he is. If you can’t open your heart to him right now, we can just take things slow. At least don’t turn him down right away, okay?”
Cam knew me better than everyone because we were one. I couldn’t treat her the way I dealt with Mila so all I could do was remain silent. I splashed cold water on my face, trying to cool myself down. I could still hear the sweet talk that Allen gave me last night and I knew I was moved at that moment.
After a long time of silence, I finally said to Cam, “I’ll give it a try.”
I washed my face in the bathroom and went back to the living room. I didn’t shy away as I did in the morning anymore.
The breakfast seemed to get bigger and some scrambled egg and bacon were added to my plate. Warm food could make me feel better when I had a hangover.
Allen was acting natural and his attitude towards me didn’t change at all. Seeing that I came back after that call, he just looked up at me and said, “Have some breakfast.”
“Okay.” I pulled out the chair and sat down. After last night, there was nothing left in my stomach and I was starving right now. I couldn’t wait to enjoy this breakfast and it was delicious. I couldn’t help but compliment, “It’s quite tasty, thanks.”
This time, Allen didn’t deny that he made this breakfast. He put down his newspaper and accepted my compliments, “I don’t have enough time to make more dishes and if you really like it, I’ll make more delicious meals for you.”
I still couldn’t get used to this gentle side of him. But my heart was filled with joy and I wasn’t so uncomfortable anymore. I smiled at him and said, “I must be the only one who knows the alpha of the Midnight Claws Pack is not only the strongest warrior but also the best cook.”
Hearing that, Allen chuckled, “Then do you like me more now?”
“What?”
“Nothing…” Allen froze for a while and didn’t go on with it. He changed the subject and asked, “Any plans for today?”
I was kind of confused but I didn’t ask him anything. I thought about today’s plan for his treatment and said, “Same treatment as before. I’m gonna give you a massage in the morning and the evening. The different treatment won’t start until the weekend.”
Seeing Allen frown, I hastily explained, “I’m not trying to stall. It’s just that the new treatment needs more time…”
“You don’t need to explain that to me. I believe you,” Allen gently interrupted me, “I’m not asking about that. I’m asking if you got anything else to do today.”
He was asking about my itinerary?
I thought for a while and smiled, “Does getting back at my fiancé count?”
“Hmm?” Allen’s eyes darkened.
“Um…ex-fiancé,” I corrected myself even though I didn’t know why I just did that when I saw the look on his face.
Allen was stunned for a few seconds and then he chuckled, “Okay. You can contact my beta Richard if you need anything.”
“Anything?”
“Anything,” Allen said calmly.
“I might cause conflicts between the Midnight Claws Pack and the Fullmoon Pack, alpha Allen,” I said sarcastically seeing how generous he was.
Allen said indifferently, “I’ll get your weapons prepared.”
I was greatly satisfied by this strange feeling I was getting. Someone had finally got my back now. Even though I still hated the thought of having an intimate relationship, I couldn’t say no to Allen’s nice gesture and I didn’t.
“Then I’m gonna accept your kind offer.”
Allen seemed to be even more content.
And he watched me dial Levi’s number.
“Freda?” Levi sounded shocked when he got my call and I could sense a hint of guilt in his voice.
“Yeah,” I came straight to the point, “hold a press conference. I’m breaking off the engagement with Carl.”
