Freda’s POV
A chubby little boy came out from the corner and his almond eyes were glancing at Allen and me. He moved a little and looked like he wanted to leave but he was also quite curious about us and wanted to walk up to us. Normally, I didn’t really care for kids because I would only deal with children at work in the hospital and they were always crying so loud that I felt like I was about to go dumb. As a result, although I didn’t dislike children, I wasn’t passionate about them either.
Most of the time, children tended to get scared when they saw me because I was a doctor. After they met me, they would either get some bitter pills or face the terrifying needles for injection.
But this little boy was different. He was adorable and chubby and he had got light brown curly hair. His big almond eyes were beautiful and he was wearing a pair of suspender trousers, which made him look quite dainty.
I could see he was curious and waved my hands at him, “Come over here.”
The little boy froze for a second and then ran over here happily. He came up to me, poked out his head, and carefully peeped at Allen before he shied away.
“Eli, what were you doing hiding over there? I think it’s class time right now.”
So this little boy’s name was Eli.
Allen didn’t sound mad at all but I could feel the little boy tremble a little behind me.
Well, the Midnight Claws Pack’s alpha seemed a bit too intimidating for a child and it was only natural for him to get scared.
Eli propped his head out from behind and said carefully, “I heard Mrs. Katrina say you’re here. You hadn’t come here for a long time so I wanted to stop by.”
After saying that, he immediately looked away and hid behind my back.
But after a while, Eli couldn’t hold back his curiosity anymore and asked again, “Alpha Allen, why are you in a wheelchair?”
I answered, “Alpha Allen’s wounded and it’s only temporary.”
Eli didn’t seem to be afraid of me like he was in front of Allen and he gazed at me with his big eyes, asking, “Can alpha get hurt too? Mrs. Katrina said he’s the strongest warrior.”
This would be quite offensive if asked by other people but when a five-year-old asked that kind of question, he was just being curious. Maybe to them, alphas were invincible and there was nothing they couldn’t do. And Allen was the bravest of them all. He was a hero and heroes never got hurt.
But heroes were also flesh and blood.
I said to Eli gently, “Alpha Allen’s the strongest and bravest warrior but he’s also a werewolf like you. He could also get injured and feel pain.”
For other people, Allen seemed to be capable of anything and had great power. But to me, he was still my lover and partner. He could get hurt and feel pain like anybody else and I would feel bad for him. But clearly, Eli didn’t get what I meant and his eyes were full of doubts and shock. He was overwhelmed by the fact that his hero would get wounded too.
I patted his head and comforted him, “But alpha Allen will get well soon and he’ll be the same powerful alpha again.”
“Fine…” Eli was still quite confused but when he heard me say that Allen would soon be a powerful alpha again, he nodded and agreed, “he sure will. Alpha Allen is the best!”
Eli clenched his chunky fists and shied away when he locked eyes with Allen. He seemed very attached to me and was clutching my shirt.
Allen frowned for some reason and said in a deep voice, “Now that you’ve already seen us, why don’t you get back to class right now?”
“I’ll walk you there. Your teacher’s gonna worry about you if she can’t find you,” I held Eli’s chubby hand and said.
“You don’t need to do that,” Allen stopped me, “he knows his way back. It’s not the first time he snuck out of class.”
“Yeah, I know how to get back,” Eli giggled shyly.
I thought this little guy was sweet and well-behaved but it turned out he was such a naughty boy who always skipped classes.
“I’m gonna go back, then,” Eli reluctantly let go of my hand and walked toward the castle. Then he ran back to us, took out candy from his pocket, and shoved it into Allen’s hands, “Alpha Allen, I saved them all for you…you and Luna. Please get well soon. I wanna be your strongest warrior when I grow up!”
After saying that, he ran away and dashed into the castle before Allen could say anything.
“Here, my Luna,” Allen chuckled and handed the candy to me, “looks like he knows you’re my partner.”
I was a bit stunned and then I realized something was off. Eli had just called me Luna but no one would tell him that. So the only logical reason could be…
This little guy just saw Allen and me kissing back then!
I was kind of embarrassed but still took the candy. I accepted what he just called me and said, “Thank you, alpha.”
I unwrapped the candy and put it in my mouth. It was melon flavor. Normally, I would think this was too sweet for me but now it tasted yummy and refreshing. Eli must have held it in his hand for a long time because it had melted a little and got stuck on the wrapping. I didn’t expect that a stern and serious person like Allen was actually really popular around children and they would even save their candies for him.
Thinking how adorable Eli was just then, I turned to look at his handsome face and suddenly wondered what Allen would be like with his own children. Would he be a strict father or a loving father who would play with his children?
I could see the image of Allen and our children playing together in my head.
A child who looked like a mini version of Allen…
Must be adorable!
Allen turned to me and asked, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“So this is what it’s like when you’re with children. I was just wondering what it’ll be like to have a child that looks like you,” I spoke my mind, “I think it’s gonna be a cool kid and maybe a popular one. And what kind of a father would you be, Allen? Will you be tough on your children?”
Most alphas wanted an heir who was capable enough and they would raise their children strictly from a very young age to make sure they could be excellent fighters and leaders. What would Allen think?
Allen stared at me for a while and then spoke up slowly, “If she looks like you, I’ll love her like she’s the apple of my eye.”
Hearing that, I came to my senses and realized we were talking about the future children of Allen and me. I started blushing and my heart was racing fast because I realized that I was actually looking forward to things like that. I actually wanted to start a family with Allen and have our own pups.
“What if they look like you? Will you be a strict father then?” I asked curiously.
“No,” Allen said without thinking twice, “no matter what our children will be like, I’ll love them because they’re ours.”
“And…”
“And what?”
“I’m very happy, Freda.”
Allen said in a tender voice, “You’re actually thinking about…having babies with me.”
