"You have four elite fiancés. Choose your future husband, Sienna."
Everyone assumed I'd pick Derek—the hockey prince I'd chased for ten years.
I chose none of them.
"So... surely not your childhood nemesis Asher? That terrifying mafia boss?"
"Exactly him."
Last time, I chose Derek—only for him to fake his death days before our wedding.
While Lucien, Caleb, and Raven "comforted" me... until I caught Derek kissing Rachel, the scholarship student I'd been sponsoring, in some back alley.
"We'll keep her distracted so you and Rachel can be happy together."
Turns out all four of them were in love with Rachel.
I fled in panic, only to get hit by a car. Those four bastards stood across the street, watching me die with cold indifference.
Only Asher held my broken body and wept.
So when I got my second chance at life, I proposed to Asher: "Will you be my groom?"
The cold, devastatingly handsome mafia king froze mid-gun cleaning, his voice trembling: "Darling... say that again?"
I never got the chance to repeat it. We were too busy making out.
……
"Sienna, your twenty-second birthday is just around the corner."
Mom's voice carried anticipation through the phone: "Five potential fiancés to choose from—have you decided yet? You've always loved Derek since childhood. You'll pick him, right?"
"No." My voice came out soft. Sunlight streamed through the glass onto my skin, but it couldn't chase away the chill in my eyes. "I won't choose him."
Silence stretched for several seconds on the other end.
"Then..." Mom hesitated. "Are you going to pick from Lucien, Caleb, or Raven—the ones who've always loved you?"
"I won't choose them either."
Mom sucked in a sharp breath: "That only leaves Asher... but he's your sworn enemy! You couldn't possibly—"
"Yes, that's exactly who I'm choosing." I cut her off, my voice impossibly steady. "Mom, I'm going to marry Asher Hollis."
"What?!" Mom's voice shot up an octave:
"Sienna, you and Asher have been at each other's throats since childhood! When you were five, you pushed him into the pool. At ten, you put chili powder in his birthday cake. At fifteen, you threw his limited-edition sneakers into the fountain..."
I listened to Mom recounting my "glorious history," but found myself smiling despite everything.
"Just a year ago, you said you never wanted to see him again and made him so angry he left England. Why would you suddenly want to marry him?" Mom asked.
I lowered my gaze, my fingertips tightening slightly.
Because I've been reborn—
Only through this second chance did I learn that among those five fiancés, only Asher truly loved me. And I had been completely oblivious.
In my past life, I'd called Mom with pure joy, telling her I wanted to marry Derek.
How could I have known then that the cold, noble Derek would fake his own death to escape our wedding for another woman, leaving me in agony for twenty years?
I was born into one of Britain's most elite families. Back then, my mother and her five best friends—wives from five other prestigious families—were all pregnant at the same time.
The other five families had sons. Only my mother had me, a daughter.
The day I was born, the other five wealthy wives were beside themselves with envy, arguing heatedly over whose son would get to marry me in the future.
Mom had no choice but to agree that when I turned twenty-two, I'd choose one of the five boys as my future husband.
In my past life, I chose Derek without hesitation—the man I'd chased through my entire youth.
I thought I'd found happiness, but the night before our wedding, his plane crashed. His body was never found.
I went mad searching for his remains, never giving up for twenty years. Lucien, Caleb, and Raven stayed by my side, gently professing their love, hoping to pull me from the darkness.
Until that rainy night when I saw him on a foreign street—Derek, who should have been dead, pressing Rachel against a corner, kissing her. Rachel, the scholarship student I'd been supporting.
Lucien, Caleb, and Raven stood nearby. The moment the kiss ended, they rushed to drape a coat over Rachel and offer her water, their eyes full of concern: "You kissed so long your lips are swollen."
"Rachel, don't worry," they said gently. "Just stay abroad and enjoy your life with Derek. We'll keep Sienna distracted—she'll never find you."
That's when I finally understood. Derek had fallen for Rachel long ago. For her, he'd even staged his own death to elope.
The other three weren't really in love with me either—they loved Rachel too. They'd only pretended to care about me to keep me occupied, to stop me from ruining their beloved's happiness.
After discovering the truth, I fled in panic, only to get hit by a car. Those four men stood across the street, watching me die with cold indifference.
In the end, it was Asher—
The sworn enemy I'd hated since childhood, the man I'd treated with nothing but cruelty—who collected my remains and wept at my grave.
"Sienna?" Mom's voice pulled me back to reality. I took a deep breath, my fingertips trembling slightly.
"Mom, I've made my decision. At my twenty-second birthday party, I'll announce that Asher will be my future husband."
"Please tell him to return home as soon as possible." I paused, my voice soft but firm. "It would be best if you and Dad went to tell him in person. Otherwise, he probably won't believe it."
Though Mom didn't understand my reasoning, she'd always spoiled me. She sighed: "Alright, since you're so determined, we'll fly to Switzerland tomorrow to tell that boy personally!"
After hanging up, I finally relaxed and headed upstairs.
I opened the hidden compartment in my walk-in closet, revealing four exquisite gift boxes arranged neatly inside: Derek's diamond necklace, Lucien's limited-edition watch, Caleb's auction-grade painting, and Raven's custom perfume.
Each piece was priceless. Each one carried their lies from my past life.
I gathered these gifts in my arms and walked outside without looking back.
As I reached the garden, a familiar voice drifted over—
"Derek..." Rachel's eyes were red-rimmed, her voice choked with tears. "Miss Sienna's twenty-second birthday is coming soon. She loves you so much—she'll definitely choose you as her husband! You'll be a married man soon. I can't be with you anymore!"
"Miss Sienna paid for my education. To secretly enjoy your affection behind her back... I've already wronged her terribly."
She lowered her head, her voice growing smaller: "You're a noble heir from a prestigious family. I'm just a poor student surviving on charity scholarships... Please forget about our time together..."
I froze mid-step.
Not far away, under a tree by the pool, four men surrounded Rachel.
Derek's face was dark as he grabbed Rachel's wrist: "Who gave you permission to leave? Even if she chooses me, you're the only one I'll ever love."
"Don't worry, I've already made arrangements. If she picks me, I'll stage a plane crash the day before the wedding. I'll abandon everything to take you away."
"Rachel, you don't need to worry," Lucien said gently, offering her a handkerchief. "After you two elope, the three of us will keep Sienna occupied. We'll never let her find you."
Caleb added with a light laugh: "Exactly. Just focus on being happy with Derek."
"Rachel, with us here, you have nothing to fear," Raven said adoringly.
"But..." Rachel bit her lip, tears threatening to fall, looking utterly pitiful. "If Miss Sienna finds out, she'll be heartbroken."
The four men spoke in unison: "We only care about you. Whether she lives or dies means nothing to us."
I stood in the distant shadows, watching, my heart feeling like it was being crushed by an invisible fist.
Right. Whether I lived or died meant nothing to them. In my past life, they'd done exactly this.
I walked forward expressionlessly, carrying the gift boxes, my heels clicking sharply against the cobblestones.
"Miss Sienna?!" Rachel's face went pale as she rushed toward me. "Why... why are you here..."
I didn't even glance at her: "Throwing out trash."
"Let me help you!" Rachel reached for the boxes. "Your family sponsored my education—I promised to serve you like an ox or horse to repay your kindness!"
"No need."
"Miss, please don't be so formal..."
During our struggle, Rachel suddenly stumbled.
"Ah!"
She screamed and grabbed my arm. We both tumbled into the nearby pool, icy water instantly closing over our heads.
I couldn't swim. I fought desperately to surface: "Help..."
On shore, all four men jumped in simultaneously.
But not for me.
I watched helplessly as they raced toward Rachel while I slowly sank.
As water flooded my nostrils, I caught a blurry glimpse of Derek lifting Rachel to shore, Lucien wrapping his coat around her, Caleb performing chest compressions, Raven calling for an ambulance...
Finally, Derek gripped Rachel's chin and kissed her fiercely.
