Sophie returned home, and Damon crowded around her, "Mommy, why are you back so soon? Did you meet Jake? How was it?"
Damon seemed even more excited than Sophie, wanting to know if Jake had indeed disclosed the secret to Mommy.
Mommy, did you see that face that looks exactly like mine?
Thinking about ‘Jake's' appearance, then looking at the star-like eyes of Damon now.
Sophie really didn't want to tell Damon the truth, so she chose to shake her head, "Mommy didn't meet Jake."
Damon looked disappointed, "Ah? How could this happen!"
How could it be that they didn't meet? Jake clearly said he was ready; it shouldn't have been possible for him to back out.
Sophie ruffled her son's hair, "Damon, are you very close to Jake?"
"Of course, Jake is my best friend, my brother!" Damon replied confidently.
He and Jake were indeed blood brothers.
Sophie's eyes flickered; she thought of her naive child.
Sophie pursed her lips, recalling the words of ‘Jake.' He had said he never considered Damon a friend.
Of course, Sophie didn't disclose these thoughts to Damon. Instead, she said, "Damon, when making friends, you must be discerning. Always make sure to see if the other person is genuine. Just like Mommy and Auntie, both are sincerely caring towards each other. Only such friends are worth having."
"Mommy, I understand." Sensing something, perceptive Damon asked, "Mommy, do you not like Jake? Jake is really nice; you'll see when you meet him!"
Sophie hugged her dear child, "Mommy knows, Mommy doesn't dislike him."
Did something happen? Is that why Mommy didn't see Jake and thinks Jake is not keeping his promise?
Just a while ago, Damon also tried to contact Jake and wanted to ask about Mommy and Jake's dinner, but Jake didn't reply.
Sophie only had a brief conversation with Damon before he went back to his room to continue trying to reach Jake.
Meanwhile, Sophie thought for a moment and decided to call Hurley.
While on the way, she called Hurley, but he was probably busy as he didn't answer. And now, Hurley still hadn't picked up.
Hurley had just come out of the hospital room; Jake was currently unconscious. Matilda mentioned that Stephen had also fallen down the stairs.
He hadn't heard anything about Stephen returning to the country. It was his grandmother who called to inform him that Jake had fallen down the stairs and was on the way to the hospital. He immediately rushed over and learned about Stephen's return.
Stephen is currently undergoing examination as well. What happened today? Both children fell down the stairs.
Matilda was crying incessantly, "Hurley, if something happens to Stephen, how can I go on living? He's my everything."
"Why didn't you inform me beforehand about Stephen's return?" Hurley's face turned grim.
"I mentioned it to you last time, but you didn't seem willing. I missed Stephen terribly, and he missed you and grandma a lot. He really wanted to come back, so I agreed to his return."
"Hurley, please don't be angry. It's all my fault. If you want to blame someone, blame me. It's all on me. Please don't be mad at Stephen; he really likes you."
Now that everyone has returned, Hurley couldn't stay angry at a child. Seeing Hurley's silence, Matilda gathered courage and said, "Hurley, the reason Stephen fell down the stairs is because of Sophie. She mistook Stephen for Jake."
