Hurley looked quite exhausted; otherwise, he wouldn't have fallen asleep so defenselessly. Sophie looked at his profile even while sleeping; even in sleep, Hurley furrowed his brows. However, the handsome face lacked the usual hostility, and there was no trace of sharpness.
Knowing that Hurley hadn't rested much these past two days, Sophie couldn't decide whether to wake him up or let him be. Although she should have been resolute in waking him up and sending him away, at this moment, a complex feeling surged in Sophie's heart.
"Beautiful Auntie, can I sleep with you tonight?" Anabel wrote down what she wanted to say and poked Sophie.
Faced with Anabel's pleading eyes, Sophie couldn't bear to refuse. "Okay, we'll sleep together tonight."
Deciding to ignore Hurley, Sophie carried Anabel into the bedroom. After helping her freshen up, Sophie tucked the little girl into bed. Anabel curled up in Sophie's arms, feeling very content.
For Sophie, holding this child tightly in her arms felt surprisingly pleasant. She didn't know why, but she didn't resist Anabel's closeness at all. Instead, she found herself liking this little girl very much.
Sophie wondered if she would have the chance to have a daughter in the future; daughters were just too adorable.
Hurley has indeed got a good deal with such an adorable daughter. He has a rare good night's sleep, awakening only when his biological clock signals the morning. Glancing at the time, it's only six o'clock.
Due to sleeping on the couch all night, Hurley feels stiff and sore. As he attempts to stand up, a blanket slips onto the floor. Picking it up, he notices a faint fragrance on it, similar to the one on Sophie.
Surprisingly, he realizes how familiar he is with Sophie's scent. It dawns on him that he brought Anabel to Sophie's house yesterday.
Sophie's home, while not as grand as a villa, exudes warmth and is neatly arranged. Stephen walks around, admiring everything in the house.
In the past, a little fool also liked to tidy up. Despite having many servants, he insisted on doing things himself, claiming it gave a sense of home. Seeing the decorations set by Sophie, the little fool also found them cute.
"Hurley, why are you sneaking around?" Sophie, now awake, comes out of her room and sees Hurley inspecting various things.
"Anabel didn't cause you trouble, did she?"
"No, she's quite well-behaved."
"You seem to like Anabel as well." Hurley leans against the wall, looking at Sophie.
"Of course, even though you're a bit foolish, Anabel is different. She's a very cute little girl."
Hurley doesn't mind Sophie calling him foolish and goes straight to the point, "Since that's the case, how about we make a deal? You help me take care of Anabel for a while. She likes your cooking and enjoys listening to your stories. You take care of her daily life and guide her psychological well-being in the right direction."
After hearing this, Sophie almost throws something nearby at him.
"Hurley, are you looking for a babysitter?"
"I didn't mean that. Speaking of which, Anabel's current state is partly your responsibility too!"
"It's none of my business!"
Hurley approaches Sophie step by step. "If you hadn't taken my child away at the airport back then, how could Anabel be so fond of you? If you hadn't approached her time and time again, how could she become so dependent on you?"
Hurley reaches Sophie's face. "I won't let you suffer. I've said it, you can name your conditions. If you help me this time, consider it a favor from me, and in the future, if you need my help, I won't refuse. Also, I'll tell my grandfather that our engagement is null and void, or else..."
