                    "Bang!"
The locked door was forcefully kicked open, revealing the strength of the man behind it.
Seeing the scene before him, Hurley's heart nearly stopped.
"Sophie!" he shouted loudly, disregarding everything else as he strode in.
Following closely behind him, Nick was also startled. What was happening?
Meanwhile, Sophie was standing by the window.
She heard the sound, but it didn't seem quite real, as if everything before her was a mirage. But the voice calling her name, why did it sound so familiar...
Were more people coming, people who also wanted to get to her? She couldn't let them succeed. Without hesitation, Sophie leaped downwards.
In the nick of time, Hurley lunged forward, grabbing Sophie's wrist directly. "Sophie!"
Hurley dared not even entertain the thought; if he had been a second later, Sophie would have fallen.
"Why aren't you helping?" Hurley shouted at Nick behind him.
Nick was almost petrified with shock, but upon hearing Hurley's voice, he quickly rushed over and, together with Hurley, pulled Sophie up.
Sophie's clothes were almost falling off, but she was still tightly clutching them.
Hurley quickly took off his own coat and wrapped it around Sophie.
"What have you done to her?" At this moment, Hurley's voice was like Satan from hell, cold to the extreme.
And that gaze, it was more like a gaze that wanted to kill.
"We... we didn't do anything!"
"Who are you? What do you want? This is none of your business, get out of here!"
A cruel smile curled up at the corner of Hurley's mouth, rendering his face terrifying.
Nick knew that Hurley was extremely angry.
"Close the door." Hurley uttered just three words.
Nick understood and immediately went to shut the door, then stood blocking it.
Hurley rolled up his sleeves, revealing muscular arms.
Then he picked up the stick that Sophie had dropped and, without hesitation, swung it directly towards Adrian's head.
Hurley's movements were fast and ruthless. If he had a knife in his hand, he might have stabbed these people directly.
Nick dared not look. He knew that Hurley had never lost a fight since childhood. He was a black belt in Taekwondo. It's just that as he grew older, he tried to avoid using violence as much as possible.
Someone tried to run, but when they reached the door, Nick kicked them back in.
"How dare you be so bold? Don't you even recognize whose people these are?"
Hurley showed no mercy whatsoever. If it weren't for the fact that killing was against the law, the ones lying on the ground now wouldn't just have broken hands and feet.
Adrian lay on the ground covered in blood, eyes wide open, his limbs broken by Hurley.
Hurley walked past him and picked up Sophie. By this point, Sophie had lost consciousness.
Her hair was disheveled, there were marks on her body from where those people had grabbed her, and there were bloodstains too.
Yet she had fought desperately, clinging tightly to her own clothes.
In that moment, Hurley experienced what it meant to feel heartache for the first time.
Wasn't she supposed to be strong in battle? Wasn't she supposed to not need help? How did it happen in the blink of an eye that she ended up like this?
There were many words Hurley wanted to scold her with. When Sophie got better, he would make sure to say them all to her!
Sophie was murmuring something, but Hurley couldn't quite make it out.
He leaned in closer and heard Sophie seem to call his name.
"Le... Hurley..."
