Unbeknownst to Hurley, Sophie had been watching him for quite some time.
Only when Hurley opened his eyes did he remark, "You're staring at me at this early in the morning, and you said you're not interested in me?"
He couldn't pretend to sleep anymore. Hurley had actually been awake for a while, feigning sleep to see how Sophie would react to what he did, whether she'd slap him again and kick him out of bed.
Yet, she did nothing but keep gazing at him like this.
This pleased Hurley. At least there was a huge change from her previous demeanor.
But her scrutiny was a challenge he couldn't ignore, prompting him to open his eyes.
Sophie, who was caught off guard, hadn't expected Hurley to be so good at pretending. She thought Hurley was really asleep and that her gaze didn't bother him!
Sophie smiled coldly. "I want to see how thick-skinned you are and how long you can keep your act up!"
Since everyone was told that he was thick-skinned, Hurley continued to be thick-skinned to the end. He responded, "So, did you enjoy the view? Am I good-looking?"
Sophie averted her gaze, not daring to meet his eyes. Those eyes were as deep as a bottomless pit, hiding all the bad things about Hurley very well.
Sophie retorted, "I've seen better. There are plenty of people more attractive than you. Let me go!"
Refusing to release her, Hurley tightened his grip on Sophie even more. "Really? Then who's prettier than me?"
"Huh?" Sophie's voice was still groggy from just waking up, its low, lazy tone surprisingly alluring.
"My brothers—my eldest, second, and third brothers—they're all more handsome than you!"
Hurley pondered for a moment. He'd only met Pietro Hades among Sophie's siblings, the three brothers of the Hades family.
That man was indeed strikingly handsome, but in Hurley's mind, he was still a step behind.
Hurley did not take offense to Sophie's comparison of him and her brother. After all, they are related by blood.
As long as it's not other men, no other man can compare to him!
Hurley confidently asserted, "So, apart from your brother, I'm the most handsome man in your eyes."
"Hurley! If you're so concerned about your looks, go check a mirror. I need to get up. Let me go!"
"And if I don't?" Hurley's playful mood persisted.
Don't blame me for being rude if you dare not to let me go, she thought. Sophie raised her hand to strike Hurley, but he effortlessly caught and deflected her attack.
Aware of his combat training, Sophie knew that her chances of beating him were slim.
But she was just attacking with one move. Sophie took advantage of Hurley's control of her hand and raised her leg to kick him.
However, Hurley was prepared, countering with his legs, maintaining control and pressure over Sophie.
No matter what Sophie did next, he seemed to have a prediction and kept Sophie under pressure.
The two people were fighting fiercely on the bed.
Their playful scuffle escalated, resulting in Hurley's legs pressing against Sophie's and his hands firmly gripping her wrists.
At some point, they had overturned, and their positions on the bed looked decidedly compromising.
Just then, the bedroom door burst open. "Mr. Walton, your guests have arrived. Please wake up..."
Chris's voice trailed off as he caught sight of the scene. Hastily covering his eyes, he stammered, "I didn't see anything! Maybe you didn't hear me knock. I…"
It was something that he shouldn't have seen. He just heard a noise, but no one answered the door for a long time, so he boldly opened the door.
"Get out!" Hurley's voice carried a hint of irritation.
"Yes, Sir!" Chris shut the door in a hurry. Mr. Walton's displeasure was unmistakable!
