Sophie listened to Stella's apology with skepticism. Stella claimed to be sorry, but her words showed no real remorse for her actions.
In her mind, she had merely damaged Sophie's clothes; she wasn't the main culprit.
But sometimes, even though you just do a simple part, it will play into a big role in the whole thing.
"Is that all you have to say? Are you even sincere?" Sophie asked.
Stella, feeling cornered, retorted, "What more do you want? I've apologized. Why aren't you satisfied?"
Miss Stella was used to it, and now she felt that Sophie was making things difficult for her.
Sophie shot back, "So, if I were to strip you and force you to sleep with strangers, then apologize, would that be sufficient? According to your logic, as long as I apologize, you should forgive me. If you don't forgive me, that's your problem."
Sophie's blunt words left Stella speechless.
If someone had done that to her, she would definitely have that person's hands and feet broken, and then put her in jail for the rest of her life without being able to get out.
But Stella continued, "I wasn't the mastermind. It was my mistake last night. I just wanted to teach you a lesson."
Growing more serious, Stella explained, "Despite being the eldest lady of the Walton family, everyone looks down on me. Even when I'm bullied, no one stands up for me."
"Only Matilda has been kind to me and supported me. She's the most important person in my life, so I'll always stand by her, no matter what she does."
"As for you Sophie, I just hate you!"
Sophie, folding her arms, responded, "I forgive you."
Stella was taken aback. "What? You forgive me?"
She couldn't fathom why Sophie would forgive her now. Had Sophie been planning revenge? Was she plotting something?
She didn't apologize just now, and she still spoke for Matilda. She even said that she hated Sophie. How could Sophie forgive her?
Is Sophie crazy or is she crazy?
"Didn't you hear me clearly just now? Then forget it, I won't forgive you," Stella clarified.
"I heard you clearly. You said you forgive me. I'm just curious. Are you planning to retaliate in the future?" Stella questioned.
Sophie smirked, "Do you think I'm that kind of person? I pity you."
"You think Matilda is very good to you and is the most important person to you, but what about her? Does she think the same way you do?"
"Perhaps you are nothing in her eyes. She just needs a tool, and you, Stella, are the perfect fit, both in terms of identity and personality."
"Just give you a little favor, and you will be grateful to her and use her. You will do whatever she asks you to do. Now, does she truly value you or just see you as a pawn?"
Stella shouted, "You're spouting nonsense! Matilda isn't like that, right, Matilda? Tell her I'm your best friend and you genuinely care for me!"
"Sophie, are you so lonely that you try to sow discord between us? You're the villain here!" Stella retorted.
Sophie responded, "If a few words can break your friendship, then maybe it wasn't genuine to begin with."
Stella grew more desperate, "Matilda, say something! I did all this to help you!"
She thought about all she had done for Matilda: whether it was Sophie, the company, or letting Matilda come to the Walton family to meet with Hurley, or Matilda and Lu's endorsement, as well as some of Matilda's resources, she was helping.
Yet, Matilda seemed to give nothing in return.
