Sophie settled into Hurley's car. As Hurley reached out to fasten her seatbelt, she stopped him and buckled it herself.
"Let's go, Driver Walton," she said with a playful tone.
Hurley started the car, but it came to a halt shortly after.
"Aren't we heading home? Where are we?"
"Let's grab breakfast first." Hurley pulled Sophie along, revealing he had already made a reservation.
Moreover, he had pre-ordered, ensuring the freshest ingredients, including freshly flown-in seafood.
Feeling hungry, Sophie sat down without protest. Soon, the crab roe soup dumplings arrived, each one meticulously crafted and translucent. With every bite, the hot soup burst into her mouth, delighting her taste buds.
"These are delicious!" Sophie exclaimed, genuinely impressed.
"Then, have some more." Hurley handed Sophie two more dumplings.
Watching Sophie eat, Hurley was reminded of squirrels, their cheeks full and puffed out.
It was unexpectedly endearing.
"Sophie," Hurley began, interrupting her meal.
"Hmm?" Sophie replied with her mouth full, swallowing before raising her eyes to Hurley, signaling him to continue.
Hurley had impulsively called her name without a plan of what to say next. His actions were obviously one step faster than his thoughts. He didn't have anything to say, he just wanted to call her name.
"What's the matter?" Seeing that Hurley didn't speak, Sophie asked after swallowing.
Hurley's mind flashed quickly and he could only find some dialogue.
"What about those men from last night?"
Hurley finally asked, recounting how they had been dealt with and handed over to the police.
Setting down her chopsticks, Sophie responded, "Let the police handle it. I believe the Windsor family will also provide an explanation."
Though Hurley had done nothing, the Windsor family would likely deal with it efficiently. But why was Hurley so agitated about this?
Not only did she help her deal with those men, but she also taught Matilda and others a lesson.
"I had someone rough up Adrian and return him to the Shaw residence. You should now see his true colors. Stay away from him in the future. When a man loses control, he can be dangerous." Hurley said.
Sophie's eyes were half-squinted as she spoke, "What qualifications do you have to say something about Adrian? You are not the same!"
Hurley felt uneasy hearing Sophie defend Adrian. "I'm not like him. Don't compare me to that kind of scum."
Sophie tried to suppress her laughter. "You're quick to call someone else scum."
"Do you really have no mercy for Matilda?" Hurley questioned.
"Why do you keep bringing up Matilda?"
Hurley smiled, her tone hinted at a bit of a jealousy.
"Forget it, I won't mention her again. I'm full. Pack me three more portions."
"If you like it so much, you could have the chef prepare it at your place next time," Hurley suggested.
"I'm taking some for my son and also for Jake and Anabel. Just drop me off at your place. I'll pick up Stephen." Sophie said.
Sophie's reasoning seemed sound. She was eager to see Jake, but knowing his fondness for Matilda, she wondered how he'd react to the truth about her now.
