Hurley drove towards the Walton family's villa.
Before the car even reached the entrance, Sophie spotted a distressed child.
"Mommy, I want my mommy!" The child's voice echoed loudly. Despite the servant's attempts to console him, the child continued his distressed cries.
"Where is my mommy? Why did you take her? What did she do? Please, bring my mommy back to me..."
It was Jake!
"Stop the car," Sophie commanded.
Hurley pulled over to the side and looked at Sophie with confusion. "We're almost at the entrance."
"Is that your son? Is he here to see Matilda?" Sophie's gaze was fixed on the distraught child.
Stephen was in tears, crying out for Matilda. He had been awake when the commotion occurred last night. Frightened, he'd hidden and only ventured out this morning when he couldn't find his mother. Now, he was here searching for her.
Hurley saw Stephen and immediately got out of the car to approach him.
As soon as Stephen saw Hurley, he ran into his arms, crying and asking for his mommy.
From the car, Sophie watched as Hurley carried Stephen into the villa. She gripped the seat belt tightly, hesitant to exit the car.
She couldn't face Jake just yet; seeing her might further unsettle him. But why was Jake here at the villa?
Sophie's heart ached at the thought that she might not be able to give away the buns she'd prepared for Jake.
Pushing aside her emotions, Sophie called her son. Damon quickly answered, "Mommy?"
"Sweetie, Mommy is outside the Walton residence. Come out quickly, and we'll go home."
"Okay, Mommy, I'm coming!"
Soon, Damon emerged from the villa, fully disguised with a hat and mask. He approached the car and tapped on the window. "Mommy!"
"Have you had breakfast, sweetheart? Mommy brought crab roe soup dumplings," Sophie offered.
Damon shook his head. "Mommy, you bought so much. I can't finish it all. Maybe I can share some with Jake and Anabel?"
"I don't think Jake would like these," Sophie mused, recalling Jake's earlier distress.
"Who said that? If Mommy gives it, Jake will definitely like it!" With that, Damon headed inside.
Upon entering, Damon saw the 'big bad guy' and Stephen. Stephen was still sobbing, clearly upset.
"Good morning, big bad guy!" Damon cheerfully greeted.
Hurley, observing Damon, noted the child's attire and lively demeanor, which resembled Jake's.
"Good morning," Hurley replied, his gaze lingering on Damon as he felt an unexpected tug at his heart.
After handing out the buns to Jake and Anabel upstairs, Damon returned to Sophie.
Though it was Hurley's car, he hadn't taken out the keys. Sophie took this as an invitation to take the driver's seat.
She had Stephen sit in the passenger seat, and then she started the car.
"How did it go? Have Jake and Anabel eaten?"
"They loved it, Mommy. It was delicious," Damon reported with a smile.
"Sweetie, how is Jake doing? Is he okay?" Sophie's concern for Jake was evident.
"Why? What happened?" Damon looked at his mother, puzzled.
