After Sophie returned home, the Windsor family called to apologize and asked when Sophie would be available to meet in person to apologize.
"Mr. Windsor, there's no need to be so formal. What happened last night wasn't your fault," Sophie said in a nonchalant tone, leaving Henry feeling even more ashamed.
At that moment, Carl was kneeling in the ancestral hall, bearing several bloody marks on his back from the Windsor family's ancestral discipline.
The Windsor family had always prided themselves on acting with integrity, so why had Carl acted so recklessly this time?
"If you have the time, please allow us the opportunity to apologize in person, Ms. Hades," Henry requested.
Sophie considered for a moment before agreeing, "Alright, tomorrow then."
"Okay, I'll visit you with my son-in-law tomorrow," Henry responded.
"Mr. Windsor, it's not necessary for your son-in-law to accompany you. Carl can come alone," Sophie corrected.
"Alright, alright," Henry agreed reluctantly.
After ending the call, Carl was still defiant.
"I'm not going!"
He had already spent the entire night in the hospital; surely an apology would suffice.
Moreover, he suspected Sophie might take this opportunity to mock him.
"You've done wrong, and you're still so stubborn?" Henry looked at his son with disappointment. How could Carl ever compete with someone like Hurley?
Carl had been sent abroad to learn how to manage a company, but he had failed to live up to his father's expectations.
Unlike Hurley, who had achieved success without his family's assistance.
What would Carl do when he couldn't control himself any longer?
"It's not my fault. Shouldn't Sophie reflect on her behavior? Why do so many people despise her and target her? What's your relationship with Sophie? Why are you defending her?"
Carl stared at his father, searching for some hint of sincerity in Henry's eyes.
He wanted to believe that his father wasn't that kind of person, but Henry's unwavering defense of Sophie made him question otherwise.
"My mother is overseas. You didn't even invite her to Grandpa's birthday celebration, yet you invited Sophie," Carl accused.
"And didn't Sophie cause a scene at the banquet? You didn't even care. Do you realize how people are gossiping about you and Sophie? Dad, is this fair to my mother?"
"Bastard!" Henry slapped Carl across the face. "There's nothing between me and your mother. Our current relationship is none of anyone's business and has nothing to do with Sophie,"
Henry retorted, his face flushed with anger. "Sophie is the savior of our Windsor family!"
"A savior? How could she possibly have been kind to us?" Carl covered his cheek, exclaiming, "So you're hitting me for that woman!"
Henry wanted to tell Carl the truth, but he had promised Sophie he wouldn't. Sophie had saved his father; if it weren't for her, his father might still be in a coma.
He had given Carl the best education and upbringing, yet Carl was still oblivious to the fact that his grandfather had been poisoned.
"Sophie is a wonderful girl. You'll regret your actions once you know the full story," Henry warned.
Henry could only hope that Carl would eventually understand and appreciate Sophie's true nature.
However, Carl responded defiantly, "I'll never regret it!"
