Whether Carl would come to apologize was inconsequential to Sophie.
Her phone was buzzing with messages, including one from Daniel.
Daniel had reached out to express his concern, but Sophie found it amusing.
Among the messages was one from her grandfather, who had also heard rumors about the incident and sounded quite anxious.
Sophie quickly called him to reassure him of her safety and also passed the phone to Stephen for a chat.
Seeing that Sophie was safe and sound, Mr. Hades breathed a sigh of relief and then asked, "How are you and that young man from the Walton family getting along these days?"
"What's the matter, Grandpa? Please stop trying to match us. Hurley and I are not involved!" Sophie protested.
"Why is it impossible? I think that boy from the Walton family is quite exceptional. Sophie, your grandpa has a good eye for judging character," Mr. Hades insisted.
"Grandpa, you're not always right about people!" Sophie retorted.
"Isn't this just a misunderstanding? I still think Hurley is a good match for you. How could such a good guy be a scoundrel?"
"Okay, Grandpa, I won't argue with you anymore. I have another call coming in," Sophie interrupted.
"When will you and Stephen return to Andorra? I miss you both," Mr. Hades inquired.
"Grandpa, we miss you too, but I have some matters to attend to and won't be able to return for the time being. The next time I come back, I'll bring you two more great-grandchildren!" Sophie was referring to Jake and Anabel, but Mr. Hades misunderstood.
"Sophie, you can't be deceived over there. You can't come back now that you're pregnant!"
"Grandpa, what are you thinking? How could such a thing happen?"
"Then what do you mean by bringing me two more great-grandchildren?" Mr. Hades was clearly confused.
"I can't explain this matter in just a few words. I'm not being deceived, I'm not looking for a man, and I'm not pregnant. Anyway, Grandpa, just wait for my good news!"
"Okay, I'll wait for you," Mr. Hades replied, trusting in Sophie. After all, if he didn't believe in his granddaughter, how could he expect others to?
After ending the call with her grandfather, Sophie noticed another missed call. Before she could return it, the caller rang again.
"Can we talk?" The voice on the other end was unmistakably a child's.
"Jake?" Sophie guessed.
The person didn't deny it. "Where are you? Auntie is looking for you," Sophie said.
"Come to my house and I'll send you the address."
"No need to tell me, I know where you live." She had been to the Walton family's home twice.
But why was Jake calling her? Could it be related to Matilda?
Soon, Sophie received a text message containing an address. The location wasn't the Walton family's residence, but it was nearby.
Why was Jake there?
Even though she suspected Matilda's involvement, this was the first time Jake had reached out to her directly. Sophie decided to go and find out.
Back at home, Sophie told Damon, "Damon, you can play at home for a while. Mommy needs to go out."
"But Mommy, I want to go with you."
"No, Mommy will go alone. It's Jake. He wants to meet with Mommy," Sophie said, her spirits lifted.
Jake wants to meet Mommy?
Damon found it odd. If Jake wanted to see Mommy, why wasn't he informed?
Damon called Jake, and the call was quickly answered. "Hey Jake, did Mommy mention you had plans to meet her?"
Jake sounded equally puzzled, "No?"
