"Why is the patient's family member here? Leave immediately or I'll call security!" Dr. Sanders's tone was stern and unwelcoming.
Given the dean's attitude, Sophie had no intention of revealing her true identity.
"My son's operation was performed by Night. I heard that Night was in your office and I wanted to thank him in person," Sophie explained, making up a plausible excuse.
"Not everyone can meet Night, and she has already left," the Dean replied curtly.
"Oh," Sophie feigned disappointment. "That's unfortunate."
She couldn't afford to reveal her identity that easily.
Not far away, Maya overheard Sophie's conversation and pursed her lips in thought.
She had assumed that Sophie was Night, but now she realized that Sophie was merely a family member of a patient.
Maya stopped eavesdropping and headed for the elevator.
Just as she stepped out, the elevator doors opened and Hurley stepped out and made his way to the Dean's office.
When he saw Sophie at the door, Hurley's surprise was obvious.
Why was Sophie here?
Remembering that Night had been in the Dean's office during the operation, a thought crossed his mind.
"Sophie!" Hurley shouted, his expression intense as he strode over to her place.
Could Sophie be Night?
He remembered that Sophie had left during the operation, claiming that she had to take care of something at home. He had tried to call her, but she hadn't answered.
Seeing her in the Dean's office now only added to his suspicions.
"Why are you here?" Hurley asked, trying to gauge her reaction.
"I..." Sophie hesitated, struggling for an explanation.
Approaching her, Hurley pressed, "Are you Night?"
Under his intense scrutiny, Sophie found it difficult to come up with a convincing lie.
Should she admit to manipulating Hurley for shares in his company? Would Hurley seek revenge?
Just as Sophie was struggling with her decision, the Dean interjected, "How could she be Night? Are you out of your mind? The person you saw earlier is Night," the Dean clarified.
Realizing he had been too aggressive, Hurley apologized, "I'm sorry."
The Dean looked at Hurley and asked, "Are you here to see Night as well?"
Hurley nodded, "Yes, you must be the Dean. I heard that Night was here and that she saved my son. I wanted to thank her in person."
The Dean couldn't help but think, "This man and his wife are so much alike. Why do they both act the same?"
Remembering Sophie's earlier claim that Night had saved her son, and now Hurley saying the same thing, the Dean deduced that these two were husband and wife.
Hurley remained silent, unsure of how to respond.
Hurley looked at Sophie, his expression one of confusion. Did Sophie tell the dean that they were husband and wife?
Despite her usual apparent disdain for him, did she secretly consider him her husband?
Misinterpreting Hurley's expression, Sophie hastily clarified, "We are not a couple."
"Not husband and wife? Then is the child you mentioned the same one?" Hurley asked.
Sophie nodded, confirming it was indeed the same child.
The Dean chuckled, "It's unlikely for an unmarried couple to have the same child. You two certainly know how to play games. But you're too late; Night has already left."
Sophie was at a loss for words.
The more she tried to explain, the more convoluted the situation became.
