Jessica was in a good mood and insisted that she wanted to take Sophie out to dinner again.
Although she had just eaten, Sophie agreed to join Jessica for a few alcoholic drinks.
First, Jessica thanked Sophie for saving her brother. Then, reveling in Matilda's downfall, she persuaded Sophie to drink a few more cups.
Girlfriends always have a lot to talk about. Much time passed, and before they knew it, it was midnight.
Jessica was feeling a little tipsy. Sophie suggested, "Shall I call you a car, or perhaps your agent can arrange one for you?"
"No need, my agent will pick me up," Jessica slurred.
Sophie nodded, "Fine, I'll arrange for a chauffeur then."
"Wait, wait, wait," Jessica stopped her. "Let me use your phone."
Confused, Sophie asked, "Why?"
Without waiting for Jessica to answer, Sophie unlocked her phone and handed it to Jessica. With a mischievous smile, Jessica quickly scrolled through Sophie's contacts. She dialed a number she recognized.
"No need to call a chauffeur. We already have a ready-made driver," Jessica said with a smile.
Soon there was a deep voice answering, "Hello, Sophie?"
"I'm not Sophie, I'm a friend of Sophie's," Jessica said.
But she heard another woman's voice on the other end of the line, "Hurley, it's not what you think it is. I didn't do it. Let me explain..."
Jessica immediately recognized the voice as Matilda's!
Sophie had just said that Matilda was done for, so what was she doing with Hurley right now?
Jessica's face went cold. "Master Ox, my friend is drunk and needs a ride home. She's on the east side of the second ring road. Can you come and pick her up now?"
"Jessica!" Sophie, who now realized who Jessica had been calling, tried to grab the phone back, but Jessica blocked her from doing so.
"Hurry up or I'll find another driver for tonight!"
Without waiting for the driver to answer, Jessica put an end to the call and handed the phone back to Sophie.
"Jessica! Why did you call him?" Sophie shouted, not wanting to get involved with Hurley.
Besides, Hurley was in the hospital at the moment and had enough on his plate as it was. How could he have so much time to pick her up?
"Isn't he your driver? What's the big deal? Why can't I call him?" Jessica saw nothing wrong with calling Hurley.
"He's not coming, he's busy."
"He's busy, all the more reason for him to come!" Jessica is annoyed. After all, she heard Matilda's voice on the phone.
She wants to see who Hurley chooses between the two of them. Will it be Matilda, or will it be Sophie?
"He's got a lot on his plate. I'll just call another chauffeur to take me home."
"You're still covering for him. What's he so busy with? Probably with another woman!" Jessica retorted.
If Hurley didn't come, she would never support Hurley to the top again, and then she would find two more handsome men for her best friend.
After Hurley dropped off the child, he returned to the hospital. Stephen had been awake but was now crying inconsolably.
He used to call out for his mother, but now he remained silent.
Hurley tried to comfort him and find out what happened. Stephen sobbed, "It hurts... Why did she try to kill me?"
From Stephen's words, it was evident that Matilda stabbed him.
That crazy wench!
Hurley immediately ordered that Matilda be taken to a mental hospital. Without his permission, she would remain confined there, and no one would be allowed to visit her.
Upon hearing this, Matilda struggled frantically, causing a scene. Eventually, she knelt down, pleading with Hurley to listen to her explanation and not send her to such a place.
She claimed that being in a mental hospital would drive her mad, which she believed was worse than death.
