The marks left by her teeth on Hurley's neck were deep. Sophie really did not show any mercy at all.
But instead of being upset, Hurley seemed to be happy to bear such an intimate mark from Sophie.
"Sophie, do you have any idea of the price you are going to pay for biting me?" Hurley said, pulling Sophie close to him, preventing her from escaping.
"Well, you bit me. Shouldn't it be fair that I return the favor?"
Hurley's eyes fell on Sophie's beautiful neck. Sophie's skin was soft and white. A bite or even a gentle suck would leave a blue-violet bruise on it.
Noticing Hurley's clueless gaze, Sophie quickly covered her neck. Her beautifully cut eyes were filled with vigilance as she watched Hurley with a keen eye.
That mischievous man, she was eighty percent sure, was going to bite her back.
When Hurley suddenly leaned forward, Sophie covered her neck even more.
But instead of going for her neck, Hurley's warm lips landed on Sophie's, surprising her.
Sophie was unprepared and was kissed directly.
She didn't even have time to react as she blinked her eyes in surprise. "You ......"
This opened up an opportunity for Hurley, who drove right in and claimed all of Sophie's sweetness for himself.
Hurley couldn't pinpoint when it started, but every time he saw Sophie, he was overcome with feelings he couldn't control.
It wasn't that he didn't want to control himself, but there were just some emotions that couldn't be controlled. The more he tried to ignore them, the stronger they became.
His concern for Sophie had long since gone beyond that of a mere friend.
While he never felt such impulses towards anyone else, he found himself irresistibly drawn to Sophie.
The kiss was brief; sensing Sophie's growing anger, Hurley pulled away from her lips in time.
Her lips, now slightly swollen and red, looked incredibly alluring.
Hurley felt it was not enough. Taking advantage of Sophie's state of shock that she had forgotten to protect her neck, Hurley leaned forward again and bit her neck, quickly leaving a soft mark on her throat.
It couldn't be called a bite as aggressive as Sophie's. It was just a soft suck, but it was something suggestive enough to set one's imagination racing.
"Hurley! Do you have no boundaries?" Sophie shouted, clearly annoyed at his audacity.
Looking at Sophie's angry expression, Hurley found it endearing.
Hurley found her irritation adorable. He teased, "After all, fair is fair."
Sophie couldn't believe his cheek. How is this fair?
And how can you use fairness to say something like that?
She began to realize that Hurley had been stealing kisses from her quite often lately.
Before Sophie could answer, Hurley said, "I was just kissing you a little bit more than that. If you think that I have taken advantage of you, then feel free to give me a kiss back."
Sophie was speechless. This man is a complete scoundrel! He still has the nerve to ask her to give him a kiss in return and all that...
"Get lost!" Sophie was furious.
Unimpressed, Hurley replied, "This is my office. The only one who can tell me to get out is my wife."
This is indeed someone else's territory, and Hurley is not the one who is going to get lost. She does.
Sophie turned to leave, but then she hesitated and went back to the door of his office.
She couldn't get the main problem out of her mind, the reason why she came here.
"Hurley, don't talk such nonsense in front of my grandfather. A relationship between the two of us is impossible."
"Why is it impossible?" Hurley stepped in front of Sophie.
"Grandpa and Grandma just want us to try. Why won't you try?"
Hurley took a step forward, "Unless you are afraid that you will fall in love with me?"
Sophie took two steps back, "Fall in love with you? It's just impossible, I'll just feel like I'm wasting my time in this relationship. I don't want to invest time in something that has no future."
"How do you know there is no result? You haven't even tried, how can there be results?"
"How can you be so sure that there is no future when you haven't even given it a chance?" Hurley's voice grew soft. "Sophie, why don't we give it a try?"
Confused, Sophie asked, "Try what?"
Hurley, with a determined look on his face, clarified, "Give being together a try."
Sophie looked into Hurley's deep, persuasive eyes. It was as if there was a sea in his eyes that contained the whirlpool of the storm as if he was always holding things back, only showing his calm side.
That calm exterior was tempting, but underneath it all was a stormy whirlpool that could pull her in and keep her trapped forever.
Her heart was racing, taking her back to the moments when she had been completely and utterly taken over by Hurley. Just a gentle look from him used to send her into ecstasy.
It was dangerous territory she didn't dare to explore or gamble with.
Sophie averted her eyes, no longer daring to meet Hurley's gaze. "Keep dreaming, Mr. Walton!"
She had worked hard to get away from Hurley; she couldn't afford to fall back into that trap.
With that, Sophie turned and quickly left the office.
As Hurley watched Sophie's retreat, he couldn't help but smile.
What a coward!
Hurley couldn't help but wonder why it was that Sophie was so opposed to being with him. Whatever the reason, he had to get to the bottom of it.
Nearby, the little secretary who had just served the coffee was still standing. She glanced over discreetly, eager for some office gossip.
It was the first time she had seen Mr. Walton smile like that. It was not a toothy grin, but there was happiness and affection in his eyes.
And even from a distance, you can see Mr. Walton's red marks on his neck! This must have been left by their future boss's wife.
Considering that Mr. Walton was in a meeting when this happened, he would surely have someone escort her out. That's what he usually did.
But here he was, still standing in front of the door with a dreamy look on his face. This one was too juicy not to have a discussion!
Sophie rubbed her flushed cheeks as she stepped into the elevator.
Don't think about it, just don't think about it!
Just as she was about to exit the staircase, she saw two familiar figures entering from the main entrance - Damon and Anabel!
But what were they doing here? Is Damon taking his sister out again?
She was about to call out to him when the receptionist interrupted, "Young Master, Young Miss.
Since when has Damon become 'Young Master'? Damon looked surprisingly mature, very grown up.
"We're looking for Daddy," Jake said. His expression was serious and unsmiling.
His demeanor was eerily similar to Hurley's.
While Damon and Hurley shared a resemblance, his personality was completely Sophie's. However, this child standing before her had mastered not only Hurley's looks but also his mannerisms and expressions.
Sophie hesitated. Was this really her Damon?
But who else could it be? She had watched him grow from infancy; she couldn't possibly mistake him for her own son.
But if it was Damon, then who was the "daddy" he was talking about? Could it be that her son had quietly recognized Hurley behind her?
