"So you think I lack skills, Ms. Hades? I'm not sure when I gave you that impression, but I think it's time to set the record straight," Hurley explained.
He placed his hands on Sophie's waist and pulled her close, their bodies pressed together. Hurley's tall frame and muscular build were obvious, and Sophie could feel his strength, even if he didn't show it at the moment.
Even if Hurley did not show it at the moment, it showed that his strength was not to be underestimated.
"Isn't that what you implied? Let me help you clarify," Sophie replied, pushing him away slightly.
The mixture of the scent of mint and the distinctly masculine scent of Hurley enveloped Sophie and ignited a fire within her.
"Sophie, stop spreading rumors about me. Do you know that you have caused me considerable emotional distress? How do you plan to compensate me for all the damage you've done?" Hurley asked with a grin.
"I'm not spreading rumors, I'm just stating the facts. With your lack of skills, I'm just making sure other young ladies aren't cheated!" Sophie replied cheekily.
"Lack of skills?" Hurley felt a twinge of disbelief. He remembered their last encounter and was sure that Sophie had been satisfied.
No matter what, he is definitely the best among humans.
This last night, he felt that Sophie was quite happy, obviously very content.
"Isn't that what people say about me?"
"You have a gross misconception of my abilities, Ms. Hades. It's still early; I could show you how wrong you are. We could go to a private room upstairs, or perhaps the bathroom. Your choice," Hurley suggested, sounding a bit like a scoundrel.
Sophie sighed. This man acts like a hooligan in public.
Hurley's strength was no concern of hers. It was too early. It would not be over in less than two hours according to Hurley's time.
If he really wanted to do something, maybe the banquet was over and Hurley hadn't finished yet.
"Hurley, could you be more serious?" Sophie scolded.
"What's wrong with me?" Hurley feigned innocence.
"I was wrong. You are the best, okay? There's no point in you proving it to me. Why don't you prove it to Ms. Harrington instead? She's the one with the misconception, and I think she'd be more than willing to let you demonstrate it," Sophie joked.
Hurley's eyes darkened. "Are you trying to push me towards another woman?"
"I just... well..." Sophie started, but before she could finish her sentence, she was silenced by Hurley's lips.
The suddenness of the kiss took her by surprise, but fortunately, the secluded location meant that no one else noticed.
Except for Alana.
Alana, who had been paying attention not too far away, saw Hurley kissing Sophie and a sad look flashed across her face.
Sophie had just informed her that Hurley was already married with children and that he had had a number of affairs. She'd even hinted at Hurley's unconventional tastes and suggested that Alana could be one of his conquests if she was interested.
Alana was aware that wealthy people often engaged in such behavior, as some of her father's friends had strange habits.
So Alana thought for a while before she ran away.
But Hurley is so handsome, what woman wouldn't be tempted by him?
While Alana's mind was in a state of confusion, she heard a familiar voice. "Uncle Vernon."
It's Carl!
Alana waved to Carl. Having spent a lot of time abroad and having close ties to the Windsor and Harrington families, she was quite familiar with Carl.
In acknowledgment of Alana's wave, Carl exchanged pleasantries with Vernon before making his way over to her.
After some casual conversation, Carl inquired, "Are Hurley and Sophie here?"
