"Sophie," Hurley noticed the commotion and walked over to where Maya was in the middle of a conversation with Sophie.
Surprise flickered in his eyes. "Do you know about Night?"
"No!"
"No!" Both Sophie and Maya replied curtly.
They might deny it, but why was it that Hurley had the feeling that the atmosphere between Sophie and Maya was a little bit strange?
"You must be Hurley Walton," Maya said, holding out her hand to shake Hurley's.
Hurley looked at her outstretched hand but didn't return the gesture.
Maya was not embarrassed either. "My name is Maya Michaels."
"It was you who operated on my son the last time he was in the hospital. Thank you for saving my son's life." Hurley said.
Maya was not sure which hospital Hurley was referring to, nor was she sure which child Hurley was talking about.
The last time Dr. Sanders mistook her for Night, he said she saved people. Is that true?
To keep up with her lie, Maya said, "I'm sorry, but I'm usually too busy saving a lot of people. I don't know what time you're talking about, Mr. Walton."
"That's all right. I never got a chance to thank you properly. Please don't hesitate to ask me if there is anything you need," Hurley said.
Sophie had heard Hurley say before that if Night had been able to save Stephen, he should have thanked her in a proper way.
She turned to look at Maya, who seemed to be trying to take advantage of this situation for her own personal gain. After all, Night had been able to save his son and had inherited a favor from Hurley. So it was likely that Hurley would agree to anything she asked for.
"Mr. Walton, you're being polite. I don't save people just to get a reward." Maya's plan was to be polite first and then get Hurley to owe her a favor.
Sophie couldn't understand Maya's intentions. How could Maya want to take advantage of the person that she had "saved?'
"Haven't you heard? It's often said that the saving of a life should not be rewarded with material things. She's an extraordinary healer. How dare you try to measure her morality by offering such a lowly thing? She is an extraordinary healer, and yet you are in such a hurry. Isn't that an insult?" Sophie challenged.
Maya gritted her teeth and glared at Sophie. She was convinced that Sophie was trying to undermine her on purpose.
Hurley considered Sophie's words. They made sense. But considering how much Night seemed to love money, could he really offer nothing?
"If you really want to express your gratitude," Sophie continued, "you could always approach her assistant. It's rather disrespectful to offer money in front of Night."
Hurley remained silent, caught between the two women's perspectives.
It was natural for Sophie to want to save Stephen since she originally felt responsible for what happened to him last time. She never thought to ask Hurley for a thank you.
So when Hurley brought it up, she didn't ask for anything.
But now she can't go around giving her things to other people for nothing. If Hurley really wants to thank her for what she did, she won't hold back!
Sophie quietly sent a message to the assistant on her own. When Hurley came to say thank you, he would ask directly for five percent of the Walton Group's shares.
Since Hurley is here to send money, she is not going to be polite!
The little assistant was shocked!
The last time she asked for five percent of the shares, and this time I asked for another five percent of the shares. Did the miracle doctor, who likes to avoid the limelight, know how much that is? Hurley is not naive; he would never agree to that.
When he observed Sophie's strong reaction, Hurley assumed that it was due to his long conversation with Maya and interpreted Sophie's behavior as jealousy.
Though he has been able to contact Night, it is only because of Night's medical abilities that he has no real sense of who Night is and what he looks like.
He held Sophie's hand and said, "Okay, I'll listen to you.
