If there was a fight, Sophie would not be afraid.
Ralph was tall and strong, much stronger than Sophie, and he was also a special forces soldier by training, but he didn't have any advantage in a fight with Sophie.
Ralph also didn't expect that this little girl would be so powerful that he wouldn't even be able to get the upper hand.
There was a cruel look in his eyes. This was all forced by Sophie. Who told her the secret she wasn't supposed to know?
After two rounds, Ralph stopped, pulled the gun from his pocket, and pointed it at Sophie.
"Do not move! Or I'll shoot!"
When Sophie saw the black muzzle of the gun and that Ralph didn't look like he was making a joke, she stopped in her tracks.
"Do you know how many years you get for illegal possession of a gun?"
Ralph sneered. "You think I'm afraid of that? As long as you are dead, who will have any idea that I have a gun?"
Sophie calmed down, knowing that a confrontation with him was out of the question right now.
"My driver is outside. Unless I can get out, you can't get out of here today."
"I'm going to kill you anyway, so what if I kill your driver? That's just one more life lost. Do you think I am going to be afraid?"
Sophie suddenly had the feeling that this man had to be some kind of a desperado. He could talk about breaking the law so easily.
"Go prepare the documents for the transfer of the house and have her sign them!" Ralph said to Emily.
Emily was scared. She hadn't expected Ralph to actually carry a gun. She had never seen anything like it in her life.
"Okay." Emily shakily started to get ready.
"Actually, if we have something to say to each other, we can talk about it. It's not impossible to transfer it to you. I didn't say that I already have my signature on it." Sophie was able to bend and stretch, so the only thing she could do now was to stabilize the person in front of her.
If she found a way to move, she would call the police first and then take the gun out of his hand.
"I've known you for a long time, why do you need me to do anything?"
"I could sign the house over to you, but I don't have to. Killing me won't do you any good. I'm Hurley's friend, and Maya should know that. If you doubt me, just ask her. Do you really think Hurley would let your family off the hook if something happened to me?"
"Think about it: neither Erika nor Maya are going to be able to live peacefully. Either Hurley will have his revenge and your family will pay the price, or Erika, who is pregnant, will be the one in pain. She finally marries the man she loves, and Maya is such a good-hearted soul. It would be a shame if something happened to them."
Sophie sat down on the sofa over there and said calmly.
Luckily, she had been on the cruise ship with Hurley last night and had become Hurley's girlfriend for the night.
With a person like Hurley, no one should have any knowledge of his temper. Using Hurley's name now might scare Ralph and save his own life.
Sure enough, Ralph frowned, seemingly pondering Sophie's words.
Sophie went on to say, "Now that you and your family have been reunited, I have nothing left to lose. But have you given any thought to whether or not Maya and Erika would want to acknowledge a murderer as their father?"
"I have had enough of your manipulative words!" Ralph wasn't easily fooled.
Sophie had a reputation for being cunning in her dealings. Emily had once claimed that it was Sophie's influence that had led Erika astray and prevented her from marrying Adrian long ago.
Seizing the opportunity while Ralph was distracted for a moment, Sophie discreetly reached for her cell phone and quickly dialed a number. She dialed Hurley's number directly since she had called him recently.
As time passed, Sophie maintained a facade of calm, but inside she was filled with uncertainty.
The call was quickly disconnected, unanswered.
Sophie's hand casually clicked on the second number, Damon's.
The phone vibrated and Sophie knew the call had been connected. She said, "This is the Michaels family now. You are a complete family, but you still have a gun pointed at my head. How could I have the guts to provoke you?"
Damon was on the other end of the phone and heard Sophie's words before he had a chance to speak.
Damon quickly took in the specific information, Michael's family, gun.
Oh, no! Mommy's in danger!
"Jake!" Damon called Jake. "Something has happened to Mommy. You call the police first and I will help them beat up the big bad guy. I'm going to save Mommy!"
"I want to go too, and I want to save Mommy!" Jake held Damon's little hand.
Damon can't say no to Jake. He would definitely be worried if he stayed.
"Okay, let's go together!"
"You should consider letting me go," Sophie continued. "This is the first time Maya has ever met you. Imagine her walking in and finding you with a gun. What would she think?"
"And what if Daniel comes back unexpectedly? Forget about your past indiscretions and imagine that you reconcile in his home. For years, Daniel has raised your children. Do you think he'd let you go so easily?"
Sophie did her best to make her intentions clear, hoping that Hurley could track her location.
"Shut up!" Ralph's patience was wearing thin.
"Emily and I were a couple, and it was Daniel's wealth that ripped us apart!" Ralph's voice was dripping with resentment at the mention of Daniel.
If it weren't for Daniel, Ralph believed, he wouldn't have been separated from Emily and their daughter.
"Money can and does drive a wedge between people. Do you really think that Emily is in love with you, or is she really in love with your money? Even if I were to give her the house, it would still be Emily's house. The company shares are also Emily's. Do you really think Emily would share them with you?"
"You! Stop talking nonsense!"
"Are you sure that what I have just said is nonsense? If not, then Emily will come to you later with the contract, and you will ask her to add your name to the deed. See if she agrees to it."
Emily quickly prepared the contract for the transfer of the house and came over. "Sign it and transfer the house to me!"
Sophie locked eyes with Ralph, a subtle signal passing between them. Although Ralph's gun remained trained on Sophie, his gaze shifted to Emily. "Emily, we are meant to be together. Our family will live here. Can you put my name on the deed?"
Emily's defenses immediately went up. "What are you suggesting? This house is my compensation for standing by Daniel all these years. Why would I put your name on it?"
She had earned it herself and it was rightfully hers. What right did Ralph have to it?
He had been absent all these years, leaving her to raise their two children on her own.
And now he had the audacity to demand a share of the house?
