"Hurley, I still have some work to do. I'll head out now," Sophie said.
"I'll send you back," Hurley insisted.
"No need, you should stay here with your wife," Sophie replied coolly.
Hurley hurriedly caught up."Sophie, she is not my wife anymore. I am over with her. Are you angry?"
"Nope." Sophie said as she shook her head. She knows that these are all fake. What is there to be angry about.
She is leaving in a hurry now because she wants to go back to her research room. She wants to go back to do her experiments and research on the a potential antidote.
Because in today's situation, Maya may not be able to cure that person.
"Then at least let me drive you, please."
Sophie didn't refuse this time.
As she went back to her home, Hurley stayed behind but not at the hospital; he headed to the company instead.
Hurley has witnessed Night's capabilities, and he trusts her with the little fool very much.
With Night here, the little fool's life won't be in danger anymore, and he can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Hurley went to the company and saw Jake and Anabel. Jake sat in his seat while he read most of the documents.
"Daddy!" Seeing Hurley, Jake's eyes lit up.
He quickly stood up and moved the papers out of the way."Daddy, I've been so bored just staring at these papers."
Hurley picked up a document at random, "Have you reviewed this project?"
Jake nodded, and Hurley asked, "What do you think?"
Jake expressed his opinion, and Hurley nodded with satisfaction.
Considering Jake's young age, Hurley was impressed with his insights. He preferred not to micromanage Jake's education, allowing his son to learn from his own experiences.
As Hurley flipped through other documents, Jake read it and found that there was no problem in them.
Trusting his son's judgment, Hurley didn't bother to look at it and directly signed his name on it.
By evening, most of his work was completed, thanks to Jake.
At this time, the hospital also called, saying that the lung replacement operation had been very successful and that they would continue to monitor the patient.
With this, Hurley has decided not to go to the hospital and planned to have a good rest tonight.
He hasn't been with his children for a few days. But fortunately, Jake and Anabel are sensible. They understood their father's situation very well.
"Do you want to go home today, or do you want to go to Aunt Sophie?" asked Hurley.
He thought that the children would choose to go at Sophie's, and he believed that if he take his children over to her place, Sophie would not refuse them.
So Hurley was surprised when Jake replied, "Let's go home."
This answer was different from what Hurley thought."You don't want to go to Aunt Sophie's house?"
Jake shook his head. He has been at Sophie's house for the past few days, and he knows he can go at any time. He really hasn't been home for several days, and he also wants to go back to see the butler again.
He originally thought that his father also wanted to go home, but seeing his reaction, why did it seem like he doesn't want to go home?
Jake looked at his father."Daddy, do you want to go home?"
Hurley cleared his throat."Of course. Daddy has been away from home for several days."
"Okay, then let's go home. Jake said.
Hurley nodded in defeat.
Jake noticed his father's expression, and then suddenly smiled."You know what, Daddy? If you want to go, just say it, and use me as an excuse. If you express your feelings, maybe Aunt Sophie will become my new mommy!"
Hurley chuckled, caught off guard by Jake's perceptiveness.
Before Hurley could have a chance to give him a lecture, Jake took Hurley's hand."Let's go, Daddy. We will still eat with Auntie Sophie!"
"Alright, let's head to your Auntie Sophie's house."
When Hurley appeared at the door of Sophie's house with his two children in tow, he knocked on the door politely.
However, no one came to open the door, and it was very quiet inside, as if there was no one.
Hurley knocked again, but there was still no response.
He wanted to surprise Sophie, but he didn't tell Sophie before he came, but now it seems that Sophie is not there.
Hurley then proceeded to call Sophie, but Sophie didn't answer.
Jake and Anabel both knew the password here, and Mommy said that they could come over whenever they wanted.
Jake didn't know if his mom was at home and grew worried that something might have happened to her.
He quickly entered the security code and opened the door, only to find the house in darkness.
Sophie and Damon are not at home.
"I'll call Mom!" Jake said.
It wasn't Sophie who answered the phone at that time, but Damon did.
"Jake!"
"Damon, are you at home? Daddy and I just came over to your house, but there is no one at home."
"Oh. I forgot to tell you. Mommy and I went home."
"Home?"
"Yeah. We just went back to Andorra, and Mommy took me with her."
Hurley felt a pang of disappointment. Sophie had left?
But everything seemed fine when he dropped her off earlier.
Could it be because of the incident with the little fool?
At that time, there was nothing wrong with Sophie's expression, but Hurley couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.
Sophie had once mentioned she didn't like him much, but he sensed she had developed feelings for him, though she was embarrassed to express it. Otherwise, did she leave so suddenly?
Hurley grabbed the phone from Jake's hand, urgency evident in his voice. "Damon, is your mom with you?"
"No," Damon replied, his young voice tinged with confusion.
When they arrived at Andorra, he didn't know where his Mother had gone.
"Did she mention when she'd be back?"
"Nope," Damon responded, his attention momentarily diverted. "Big Bad Guy, Grandpa is calling me now. I'll end the call. Bye!" The old man hasn't seen his great-grandchild for a long time, and he missed him so much. With that, the call with Damon ended.
Hurley stood frozen, surveying the deserted room.
Everything in the room was still there. Sophie seemed to be in a hurry, leaving all of her belongings behind.
But Sophie didn't lack anything, and she couldn't even just don't want these things.
Hurley had no idea if she will be coming back, or if she had already left this place for good, never coming back again.
Is she angry? Or jealous?
Or does she feel that she is being neglected because he was spending so much time at the hospital with the little fool and not with her?
Women's minds, he knew, were intricate and could easily wander into the realm of imagination.
Hurley felt that it must be because of his neglect that Sophie left.
Otherwise, why would she leave now of all times?
"Daddy, Daddy!" Jake's urgent voice snapped Hurley back to reality.
"Jake, Daddy will send you back first." Hurley said, trying to hide his turmoil.
"But what about you?"
"Daddy has some matters to attend to, and he probably won't be home for the next couple of days."
In haste, Hurley instructed Chris to purchase the earliest flight ticket to Andorra. He needed to find Sophie and clear up any misunderstandings about his relationship with the little fool, that it‘s not the same as it was.
Additionally, it was an opportune moment to visit his grandparents and express his gratitude for arranging his marriage with Sophie.
If things were to work out between him and Sophie, he should also let her grandfather see him as a worthy grandson-in-law.
Regarding the hospital, he trusted Chris to oversee things. Chris would update him if anything urgent came up. He was confident in Night's capabilities to handle any medical situations.
