When he came back to Andorra late and night, Hurley didn't immediately visit the old man, and his whereabouts were unknown.
When he called Sophie, she didn't answer.
The old man's immediate call to Sophie upon hearing of Hurley's arrival, without addressing him first, displeased him immensely.
"I didn't intend to trouble him. I merely had something to discuss," the old man tersely explained before abruptly ending the call.
Hurley pondered, wondering if it was Sophie on the line and if she was aware of his visit.
The old man scrutinized Hurley more intently now, doubting if Hurley could have hurt Sophie years ago and whether he was up to something again. If this kid is really the one who have hurt Sophie five years ago…
Disagree!
He would disagree to this marriage!
However, as soon as the old man's phone call ended, Hurley's mobile phone rang. As he picked it up, he saw that, sure enough, it was a call from Sophie.
There has been no news of Sophie in the past two days. Hurley thought that Sophie was still angry with him. Now that she was calling, he was eager to answer it.
"Grandpa, I need to take this call."
"Don't call me 'grandpa'!" The old man's tone was sharp and demanding.
Stepping aside, Hurley answered, "Hello, it's late."
"You're in Andorra?"
"Yes."
"Are you with my grandfather?" Sophie asked..
Hurley continued to answer. "Yes."
"Did Grandpa saw you?"
"Yes, I'm with him now, but he seems different," Hurley hesitated, trying to pinpoint the change in the old man. It was as if he had become an entirely different person.
Sophie fell silent. After a short while, Sophie responded with a brief instruction, "Come pick me up."
"But your grandfather had invited me for lunch."
Sophie placed a hand on her forehead. Clearly, her grandfather wasn't keen on having lunch with Hurley, and it felt like he was setting Hurley up for failure.
"I don't care where you are now. Come and pick me up immediately, right now!" Sophie urged. She has to find a way to let Hurley leave first, otherwise her grandfather may really not let him go.
"Alright," Hurley agreed, relieved to hear Sophie's tone. It was rare to for Sophie to order him to pick her up by himself.
And listening to her tone, Sophie didn't seem to be angry at him.
Hanging up the phone, Hurley walked up to the old man, Grandpa, I need to pick up Sophie. We'll return for dinner later."
"Don't call her Sophie!" The old man patted the table: "Call her Sophie one more time and I wont hold myself back! What is the relationship between the two of you? You two seem so close. Let me tell you, you and Sophie are nothing now, and Our family may not even approve of you!"
The old man's attitude has changed too much, and Hurley was naturally taken aback by this. Could it be that he has behaved wrongly to make him dissatisfied?
"Grandpa, I know Sophie is a wonderful person. Maybe I haven't shown it well, but my feelings for her are genuine."
"What are you talking about?!" the old was on the verge of getting a kitchen knife.
"I'll pick her up now and visit you later." In comparison between the grandfather and Sophie, Hurley wanted to see Sophie more than anything.
Sophie's address led him to the suburbs, not far from her laboratory.
Sophie stood there. Because she barely closed her eyes after she finished working, so she looked very dark circles under her eyes.
From a distance, Hurley saw Sophie.
He hadn't seen her for only just a few days, but he was taken aback by how much wight Sophie has lost. She is fragile, and he feared that if the wind grew stronger, it can blow her away.
"Sophie!" Hurley exclaimed, stepping out of the car. He quickly removed his jacket and draped it over Sophie's shoulders.
Andorra is near the sea, where the wind is very strong and cold, and Sophie was scarcely dressed for the evening.
"What are you doing, I'm not cold," Sophie protested, attempting to remove the jacket. But before she could, Hurley wrapped his arms around her in a tight embrace.
Hurley kept hugging Sophie tightly in his arms, as if he had found some lost treasure after such a long time.
"I'm sorry. Hurley's head was buried in her neck. He took a deep breath, sniffing the familiar smell on Sophie's body.
However, the scent was now tinged with a faint smell of disinfectant.
Sophie was even more surprised in her heart. Hurley's sudden hug and apology made Sophie think that maybe Hurley already knew everything. Could it be that her grandfather revealed everything to him?
Hurley is not a person who will apologize casually.
However, Sophie quickly regained her composure. "What have you done that you need to apologize for?" she asked.
Hurley's embrace tightened further as if he wanted to meld Sophie into himself. "The situation with 'the little fool'... I didn't make things clear. I didn't realize how much it hurt you, Sophie. I want to clarify once more: I have no feelings for her. If I tried to help her, it was merely out of a sense of duty. I don't love her. The person I truly care for is…"
"Hurley!" Sophie cut him off, preventing him from completing his sentence. "Did you think I came back to Andorra because I was angry with you?"
"Isn't that the case?"
He didn't know that this incident actually made Sophie uncomfortable like this.
Hurley assumed that Sophie must have been very painful and uncomfortable in the past two days. She must be thinking about him quietly, but she didn't dare to call him, didn't dare to listen to his voice, for fear that hearing his voice, he would feel wronged, and he would feel even more uncomfortable.
Sophie sighed. Hurley can be a little narcissistic sometimes.
She went back to Andorra to study the antidote to the pesticide, and it had nothing to do with her being angry and jealous!
"Where have you been these days? Grandpa said he couldn't contact you, and Damon also said he couldn't get in touch." Hurley's eyes were filled with concern as he asked.
Sophie couldn't reveal to Hurley that she had been working undercover as 'Night' to study the drugs.
Since Hurley was already misunderstanding the situation, she decided to let him continue in his misunderstanding.
"Just taking a break out here in the suburbs," Sophie replied.
"What did Grandpa tell you?" She asked, hoping to gauge her grandfather's intentions.
"He didn't say much," Hurley responded, clearly not wanting to elaborate.
"Hurley, you better hurry back to Tbilisi immediately. Isn't 'the little fool' still in the hospital? Shouldn't you be by her side?" Sophie said, her words dripping with underlying meaning.
In Hurley's ears, she was completely jealous, Sophie must have been jealous, but she wasn't willing to admit it.
"I've arranged for someone from the hospital to look after her. She underwent a lung transplant and is recovering well," he explained.
"Hurley, leave Andorra and don't show up in front of my family again!" Sophie urged.
Currently, only her grandfather was aware of the situation. If her three brothers found out, they might see Hurley as a threat.
Her brothers were fiercely protective of her, and upon her return to the Hades family, they had been ready to move heaven and earth for her.
If they discovered Hurley's true nature from that day, they might take drastic measures.
Previously, her grandfather had mentioned visiting the capital, but she had discouraged him. She hadn't anticipated Hurley's sudden arrival, which had inadvertently exposed him.
