Sophie ended the phone call with her grandfather and decided that she wanted to discuss the matter with him in person.
"Is Grandpa in the hospital?" she wondered.
She went straight to the hospital to explain the situation to her grandfather.
When she arrived, Sophie couldn't find anyone. She dialed Damon's number, only to be told that her grandfather had already gone back to the house with the children.
Sophie was about to leave when she saw Hurley.
He looked a little pale, holding his stomach with one hand while talking on the phone.
"Daddy's got it, right," Hurley said into the phone.
As soon as Hurley turned around, he saw Sophie on the other side. But before Sophie had time to get out of the way, Hurley walked up to her.
"Jake and Anabel have also arrived in Andorra," Hurley informed her.
"I know. Grandpa took them home with him. They're going to stay with him for a few days," Sophie replied.
She speculated that her grandfather was probably going to want to spend some time with the children, and maybe even try to get custody of them away from Hurley.
It wouldn't be a problem for Hurley to allow the children to stay with the Hades family. Besides, the two children are very fond of the Hades family, and the family will definitely like Jake and Anabel. The two children would be able to please the old man of the Hades family, and their presence might improve Hurley's chances of being able to fulfill her marriage contract with Hurley. It seemed to be a favorable situation.
But ......
Hurley is a businessman, so it goes without saying that he wants to get a little welfare for himself.
"No, I can't. Hurley said.
"No, I can't," Hurley said firmly. "I've already found a place for us to stay. Of course Jake and Anabel will stay with me."
Sophie's brow furrowed; if Hurley was going to insist on the child staying with him, then his grandfather was definitely not going to agree to it.
"Hurley, you know the kids have a good relationship. Damon promised Jake that they were going to spend some time together in Andorra and that he was going to take Jake to play with him. Ask Jake; he may not want to live with you."
Hurley opened his mouth and said, "Your Hades family is a family, I came to Andorra alone and I didn't even have anyone around me except my kids, so I wanted them to be with me."
After a pause, Hurley continued. "If you have to go back to your house to live with Jake and Anabel, that's not out of the question. But if you come to live with me, I'll be okay with that. How about that?"
Seeing that it was impossible, Sophie snapped. "Why should I live with you?"
Holding his stomach in his hands, Hurley pleaded, "I'm not feeling well, and I have no one here with me. If Jake knew I wasn't feeling well, he'd want to be with me."
As he spoke, Sophie started to make a phone call.
But Sophie looked at Hurley's face, it wasn't good, it didn't look like he was pretending.
"Why are you uncomfortable? What's wrong?" she asked.
"Maybe I haven't eaten and my stomach hurts. If someone could make me a nourishing meal, maybe I'd let Jake go outside and play for a while," Hurley tried to appeal to her sense of compassion.
Hurley hadn't had much to eat since his arrival in Andorra, and he had a bit of a stomach ache that morning. After the house hunting and the shopping, he'd been too busy to have a meal.
"You always have people at your beck and call who are willing to cook for you," Sophie replied.
"If you stay with me tonight, I'll okay Jake and Anabel staying with Granddad," Hurley suggested.
"I have a lot of work to do; I can't stay with you," Sophie said no, thinking of all the research she still had to do in her lab.
"Then at least have dinner with me."
After a moment of thought, Sophie agreed, "Fine.
It will give her a chance to ask Hurley how the 'little fool' is doing in the hospital and what their present situation is after Maya's surgery.
On their way out of the hospital, Hurley asked, "Are you going to do some grocery shopping?"
"No, let's eat out. What do you want to eat? Chinese or Indian?"
Finding those options unappetizing, Hurley replied, "I'd prefer something else."
"What do you have in mind?"
"Home-cooked food."
"I know two good restaurants. Shall we go?"
"I want to eat something I cooked myself," Hurley insisted.
Feeling a little tired, Sophie replied, "I don't feel like cooking."
"I'll do it," Hurley offered.
Sophie was stunned for a moment, could Hurley do the cooking?
It was still fresh in her mind that Hurley had come close to burning down the kitchen.
"Are you actually going to eat what you cook?" Sophie asked skeptically.
"Of course," Hurley replied confidently. "I can just follow a recipe."
"The supermarkets here in Andorra are not familiar to me. You're going to have to show me where to buy the vegetables," he suggested, perhaps wanting to spend more time with Sophie doing the shopping.
Sophie took Hurley with her to the supermarket, Hurley was pushing a small shopping cart, if other people knew Hurley, they would not be able to imagine that Hurley would personally go out to buy vegetables.
"What do you want to eat?" Hurley asked, obviously unsure what to choose from the produce.
"Anything will do," Sophie said, not being particularly picky.
Hurley grabbed some vegetables and threw them directly into the cart. Sophie quickly intervened, "You have to do the weighing first! And those don't look fresh. We should choose our vegetables carefully."
It was obvious that Hurley was not familiar with even the most basic aspects of shopping at the grocery store.
As he followed Sophie around, Hurley watched her carefully choose vegetables. The two of them seemed to be an ordinary couple, shopping together for the necessities of life such as firewood, rice, and cooking oil.
Although Sophie had accompanied Hurley to the supermarket, he ended up doing most of the shopping. The shopping cart was more than half full, and Sophie was only an occasional contributor. Together they made a strikingly good-looking couple, attracting the attention of passersby.
Some even recognized Sophie. "That woman is from the Hades family, isn't she?"
"Yes, she looks familiar. I've seen many scandalous articles about her on the Internet. Wasn't she in a relationship with a wealthy older man or something like that?"
"Who knows? Didn't she have a thing with Landon in the past? Landon claims she was relentless in her pursuit of him, but he turned her down."
"She looks gorgeous, even more beautiful than some celebrities."
"In spite of her good looks, she has a questionable reputation. Who knows how many men she's been with over the years? Would you want such a woman?"
"I wouldn't. Women like her have no business being...", one of the men began.
The group continued to chat in a lively manner, unaware that someone was approaching them.
"Who are you talkin' about?" a firm voice interrupted their conversation.
Still absorbed in their gazing at Sophie, they were oblivious to the newcomer.
With contempt on his face, one of the men said, "I'm talking about Sophie. Look at her, she is always with another man. She's just playing around with a body like hers. She's the kind of girl who can't live without a man..."
Before he had a chance to finish his sentence, he was knocked to the ground by a powerful punch. As he tried to retaliate, a shoe clamped down on his mouth.
"If you cannot speak in a respectful manner, then perhaps silence is the best choice for you," a cold, threatening voice said.
