Hurley looked at the dark vegetables, his eyebrows furrowed tight enough to crush a fly.
Can one eat these vegetables? They shouldn't be poisonous, should they?
After thinking about it for a while, Hurley decided that he still wasn't sure, so he emptied out the vegetables and started all over again.
Fortunately, the chicken soup that was simmering over there looked pretty good. Hurley was about to add salt, but he had no idea how much to add, so he had to use his intuition.
Hurley continued to cook. At the same time, he was flipping through the recipe, feeling rushed and nervous.
By accident, he bumped into a nearby shelf, causing it to fall to the floor with a loud crash.
Hurley breathed a sigh of relief as he looked over at Sophie, who was still sleeping on the sofa.
Hastily putting everything away, Hurley finished the cooking of the vegetables, but even then he had the feeling that they weren't edible.
Almost all of the vegetables had been hastily devoured by himself. Then Hurley looked at the rice and realized that it had been cooked, but that he had added too much water to it, which had turned it into a mush.
He forgot about it and decided to order something to eat instead of rice.
Hurley reluctantly made a phone call to have the signature dish of the best restaurant in Andorra delivered to him.
Soon Hurley's takeout arrived.
He quietly opened the door and brought the food into the house.
The restaurant had sent the food out in their own bowls, but Hurley had decided to transfer the food to his own plate.
When everything was done, Hurley walked over to Sophie.
Sophie was in the same position on the couch and looked very tired; Hurley couldn't bear to wake her.
He decided to let her sleep a little longer.
Afraid that Sophie might wake up easily, Hurley didn't dare to hold her, so he just covered her with a blanket.
Hurley stayed by Sophie's side and took care of some official business.
Even though he was in Andorra, his work didn't slow down at all.
It was ten o'clock in the evening when Sophie finally woke up.
When she looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, she didn't react until she saw Hurley sitting next to her, and then Sophie remembered that she had come home with Hurley.
"Awake? Hungry?" Hurley put down his work immediately.
Looking at the time, Sophie said, "I slept so long!"
It was almost ten o'clock now, she'd been asleep here for four hours!
Hurley got up. "I'm going to heat up the food."
Sophie was confused. "Did you really cook the food?"
Had it not been Hurley who had caused an explosion in the kitchen this time? That would be a surprise.
"Go wash your hands and wait."
Sophie was actually a little hungry. It was time for her to have a taste of Hurley's cooking skills.
When Sophie went into the kitchen to take a look at it, Hurley pushed her out of the room.
"Don't come in, just wait for me."
Sophie could smell something burning. This young master must have been cooking for the second time. If it wasn't delicious, would she point it out to Hurley directly or would she make a face at him?
Soon, Hurley had the dishes heated up and brought them out.
When Sophie looked at the beautifully arranged dishes, she couldn't believe that Hurley had made them.
"Try it." Hurley handed her the chopsticks.
"Did you make these?"
Hurley kept his mouth shut. He didn't have such good cooking skills after all.
Sophie tried to bite down and said, "These are from the restaurant Cabalen from downtown."
Hurley wasn't able to say anything after that.
As a matter of fact, that was the restaurant he had an order for. He hadn't expected that Sophie would find out about it so quickly.
Sophie put down her chopsticks and said, "I've been in Andorra for so many years, I've tried all kinds of restaurants. Hurley, you said you were going to cook for me, where are the dishes that you cook?"
"I made..."
They were all inedible.
"You didn't cook, did you? Did you invite me to dinner without being sincere?"
"I did."
He did cook, but none of the dishes turned out to be good.
"Where are they?"
"In the kitchen," Hurley was forced to admit.
He had almost discarded them.
He had thought that Sophie would just want to see them and then make fun of him.
Unexpectedly, when Sophie entered the kitchen and looked at the dishes he had made, she immediately turned on the stove, poured his dishes into the pot, and began to season them, cooking over the flame.
"Sophie, you cannot eat that," Hurley tried to stop her, not even knowing how to make it right.
But Sophie's hands didn't stop moving, she cooked effortlessly, as if it was second nature to her.
"With so many dishes, we can't just let them go to waste, can we?" It seemed that Hurley really did not have that talent; his cooking was below average, but not completely inedible.
After the addition of some spices and the reworking of Hurley's dishes, Sophie served them and instructed Hurley to take them to the nearby table.
When Hurley saw the dishes that had passed through Sophie's hands, he had the feeling that they had a different look, somehow not so unappetizing.
Sophie quickly reheated the dishes, along with the food Hurley had ordered, filling the table.
As soon as Sophie had picked up her bowl, she started to eat.
Hurley kept watching the expression on Sophie's face and noticed that she was eating quite normally. He had a couple of bites too and had no problem with the food.
"I haven't done much cooking before, so this is about the best I could do. But I'm going to make sure that I learn and improve myself in the future so that I can cook better," Hurley said.
"Since you have so much to do, why bother to learn it? If you want to eat, you can just call someone to cook for you and have them bring it to you," Sophie replied.
"I would like to cook for you," Hurley stressed.
Sophie's movement to eat froze and her face involuntarily warmed up. She had known that Hurley had always been insincere with her. She regretted that she had said that.
"I... I have someone who does my cooking too."
"That's different." Hurley served Sophie some food. "Try this, it's delicious."
Sophie didn't answer and continued to eat in silence. She was afraid that if she spoke again, Hurley would have something else to say to her.
After she had finished her meal, Sophie rubbed her stomach and felt very good about herself.
Hurley hadn't eaten much that night; his stomach was already uncomfortable, and he had ordered dishes with flavors that Sophie liked in order to take care of her.
A short time later, the doorbell rang. Hurley was on his way to answer the door when Sophie rushed to the door.
She seemed to have bought something and quickly closed the door. She walked over to Hurley and said, "Take this.
She handed him a box of medicine.
Hurley hesitated to take it. "Don't expect me to feed you." Sophie remarked.
As soon as she had said this, Sophie went to the other side of the room to get a cup of warm water.
"We're adults now. If you don't feel well, you should take your own medicine. Don't tough it out. Do you know how many people are dying at a young age from various diseases?"
"With all your wealth, it would be a shame if you didn't make use of it."
Hurley took the medicine with the warm water and said, "There are also many cases of sudden death these days."
"Of course, the chances of sudden death are greatly increased by the fact that young people often stay up late."
"Then, Miss Hades, have you had no sleep for a couple of days? You know it's not good to stay up late, but you're not resting properly. Do you have plans to be a pair of ill-fated love birds with me?"
