When Mr. Morada saw Sophie walking with Miko, he was very pleased.
"Sophie, come here, sit down."
They arranged for Sophie to sit right next to Miko.
Sophie was pretty and capable, and Mr. Morada was very pleased. His grandson only knew how to bury himself in books. If he could marry Sophie, it would truly be a blessing for the Morada family. Even though Sophie had a child of her own, Mr. Morada didn't care about such things. The only thing his grandson needed was someone to take care of him, and he thought that Sophie would be good for that job.
"Mr. Morada, good evening," Sophie greeted him politely before taking a seat.
At the sight of the alcohol in front of the grandfather, Sophie immediately took it away. "Grandpa, your blood pressure went down two days ago, and now you don't listen to me?"
The old man shrugged, "I haven't even had a sip yet. Can't I just have one?"
"No!"
Sophie would have to deal with his deception later. She couldn't confront him right now when there were others around.
Mr. Morada grinned and pulled at Mr. Hades, "Mr. Hades, I've just seen the night view over there, it's quite beautiful. How about you and me going for a walk? I also saw a lot of old ladies still square dancing over there."
"Sure, let's go."
Having said that, the two old men stood up.
"Grandpa, didn't you tell me that if you had too much to drink, I would have to take you back?" Sophie questioned.
That liar! She shouldn't have believed him!
"I am sober now, I feel much better. If I walk around, it will help me sober up even more. Besides, the driver is still here with me. Don't worry about me, you can talk to Miko. Don't bully him, okay? You two young people have a lot in common. You can take Miko back after dinner."
The old man leaned in close to Sophie's ear and whispered, "Miko is a very conservative person. Be careful what you say, don't frighten the child!"
Sophie replied lightly, "You do realize that he's not really a child at all."
As a matter of fact, Miko wasn't really a child; he just turned twenty-three years old that year and was a recent college graduate. It was just that he happened to look young, which, combined with his glasses, had made him the good boy next door since he was a child. Today, perhaps in a deliberate attempt to appear more mature, he was even wearing a suit, resembling a child playing dress-up in adult clothes.
"Anyway, treat Miko well. Don't come back for at least three hours!"
Sophie could only rub her temples at the old man's stern warning.
The two old men soon left the room, leaving Sophie and Miko on their own.
"Sophie, are you okay?" Miko asked.
"I'm fine, let's eat," Sophie replied, feeling hungry herself.
"Sophie, I have no doubt in my mind that you are competent. I've run into a problem in my latest academic research that I can't seem to figure out how to solve. Could you help me take a look at it?"
Miko had no ulterior motives towards Sophie; his mind was solely focused on his studies and he was eager to gain as much knowledge as he could.
"Sure," Sophie agreed.
Miko took out his tablet, opened up the problem he had in front of him and put it down next to Sophie. "It's this one."
Sophie took a look at it and indeed found it to be a very challenging problem. Cautiously, the two of them leaned against each other and studied the question.
Just then there was a knock at the door. Sophie called, "Come in.
A waiter entered, served their food, cleared the table and quickly left for the next private room.
In the next room, Hurley had already consumed quite a bit of alcohol.
The icy liquid slid down the back of his throat and chilled his heart.
It was only at the entrance of the waiter that Hurley's eyes were open. "How is it?"
The waiter told him what he had observed. "There are only two people in the next room, a gentleman and a lady, who are sitting very close to each other and are looking at something. The atmosphere doesn't seem very lively."
"They're sitting very close together?" Hurley repeated the words through clenched teeth.
The waiter nodded and then demonstrated with another person just how close their heads were to each other. It was an intimate distance.
Hurley reached out and touched him, the veins become visible and even the glass cracked.
A man dared to get that close to Sophie, and she didn't break any of his bones?
After the waiter had finished speaking, the others waved him away and indicated that he should leave the room. They watched the expression on Hurley's face and noticed that his demeanor remained cold throughout.
What was the relationship between Hurley Walton and Sophie Hades of the Hades Family? They hadn't heard anything about them.
"Mr. Walton, your drink is finished. Shall I have some more sent over?"
"Yes."
Soon, the waiter was happy to bring over some more alcohol. After all, the price of every bottle here started at seven figures, and the more they sold, the higher his commission would be.
Hurley drank more and more and his head started to feel dizzy and heavy.
Sophie...he was missing Sophie.
Consumed by jealousy and longing, he didn't want to stay here one more second. Hurley stood up abruptly.
"Mr. Walton?"
Mr. Lim, I think our conversation is over for today. Let's arrange to meet and talk another time."
Saying this, Hurley went over to the door and pushed it open.
Sophie had finally found something that she was interested in, and she was now deep in her research. Miko was next to her and pointed out the results from time to time. The two of them were having a pleasant conversation, completely unaware of the door being pushed open and the sight of an angry Sophie, her eyes burning red.
"I think this is going to work," Sophie said. She tapped on the screen for Miko to see.
Miko's eyesight hadn't been that good in the first place, and there had been a smudge on his glasses earlier. Now, he leaned in even closer and tried his best to read the words on the screen. But before his head could reach Sophie's, it was forcefully pulled away.
"Ouch!" Miko jumped in pain and met Hurley's fiery stare. "Who are you?"
"Stay away from her!" Hurley shielded Sophie behind him.
Only now did Sophie see Hurley. She quickly grabbed Hurley's furious face. "Hurley, what are you doing here?"
Hurley hugged Sophie tightly; he really missed her.
"Sweetheart..." his voice was deep, tinged with intoxication.
Sophie could smell the alcohol on Hurley's breath. She wondered how much he had drunk.
"Hurley, did you follow me here? You... mm..." Sophie's words were cut off when Hurley silenced her with a kiss on the lips.
Ignoring the presence of the others, it was as if he wanted to assert his dominance and let everyone know that Sophie belonged to him.
Next to them, Miko's eyes widened in shock as he obviously still had to process the scene in front of him. He had the feeling that he shouldn't have been here; the man who had burst into the room had the look of a man who wanted to devour him.
But if someone was going to dare to bully Sophie, his sister, then he couldn't just stand by and watch.
"Is he drunk? You... you can't pick on Sophie!" Miko tried to pull Hurley away from him, but he was stopped when Hurley grabbed hold of his wrist. One more twist and Miko's wrist would undoubtedly be broken.
"Hurley, stop it!" Sophie intervened!
