Sophie's hand touched Hurley's and Hurley's movements came to a halt.
"I know him, Miko. You can go first." Sophie
Dealing with this drunk was going to be a little bit tricky.
Even though Miko was a little bit worried, knowing Sophie made it a lot easier.
Mr. Hades had said that Sophie was single, but it looked as if she was not.
And there was something familiar about this brother, too, as if she had seen him somewhere before, but Miko had no recollection.
Miko took the bag and left the room, leaving only Sophie and Hurley in the room.
"You just defended him." At that moment, Hurley was like a child voicing his complaints.
"What is your relationship to him? Who is he to you? Why didn't you want to go out to eat with me and chose to go out to eat with him instead? Are you close?"
Under the influence of the alcohol, Hurley asked all the questions that he had wanted to ask.
"Why did you get so close? Don't you know that people are supposed to keep boundaries with each other?"
Hurley's eyes were bloodshot and the restraint he had shown before turned to irrationality.
All he wanted to do was to drive all the men away from Sophie and to keep her close to him.
"Quite shocking for you to say that people are supposed to keep boundaries with each other. Then tell me, why are you here? Can you just stay the hell out of my way?"
She felt almost suffocated as Hurley was holding her. Where did he get such strength?
"Are you driving me away? Is it because of that man?" As far as Hurley was concerned, Sophie was rejecting him.
"What the hell does he have to do with this? He's just a friend."
"A friend? So the dinner you had tonight, was it just a dinner between friends? There was no other purpose?"
Sophie was silent. In fact, the purpose of her dinner with Miko this evening was not that simple, but it was all Grandpa's purpose, it had nothing to do with her.
It had nothing to do with her. If she'd had any idea that this was Grandpa's plan, she wouldn't have been there.
In those two seconds of Sophie's hesitation, Hurley had successfully misunderstood her.
He pulled Sophie back into his arms and his hot lips landed firmly on her ears, on her cheeks, on her neck and on her lips.
"Sophie, you know my feelings, I have feelings for you, I really do. Can you be with me instead?"
His voice was urgent. He couldn't wait to tell Sophie what was on his mind.
Hurley had been dying to tell her how he felt, but for various reasons, he never got around to telling her how he felt.
This time, under the influence of alcohol, he had the urge to put all his thoughts into words.
"I know you don't like me much anymore. But you can't deny that you still have feelings for me."
"I'm not sure what kind of image of me you have in your heart, or what you've heard about me from others. I'm not saying that everything you've heard isn't true, but I hope that you'll come to understand me by interacting with me directly, rather than relying on hearsay. I wish that you would come to me with your questions instead of letting rumors influence what you think."
Hurley's words struck a chord in Sophie. Did Hurley... have feelings for her?
The once distant Hurley, the one who had never taken her seriously, was now confessing his feelings for her.
"You've had too much to drink."
"I'm not drunk, Sophie. Can you give us another shot? I know I'm going to regret it for the rest of my life if I let you slip through my fingers without trying."
"It's too late, Hurley." It's already too late, there's no point in saying such things now.
Even if she would agree to it, her Grandpa would never agree to this marriage.
"I'm going to take you back." Sophie tried to support Hurley.
"Is there something wrong with me, or are you worried? Are you worried about my relationship with Matilda? We do not have a relationship, we have never been into one."
"Hurley! Whether you've had too much to drink or not, I don't want to talk about it right now. When you understand all of this, you'll understand where I'm coming from."
"If you don't want me to take you back, I'll leave and you can handle it on your own!"
"Don't." Hurley hugged Sophie from behind. "Don't leave me."
He buried his head in Sophie's neck. "Why does everyone want to leave me..."
Sophie's body shook slightly. Everybody wants to leave me?
What does that mean?
"Stand still, I'll get you down." Sophie tried to free herself.
Hurley's behavior of acting like a spoiled brat after drinking so much was quite unexpected. Where had his strong man attitude gone? She began to wonder if Hurley was really drunk or just pretending to be. I mean, wasn't he known for holding his own when drinking?
"Then hold on to me." Hurley reached out his hand and grabbed Sophie by the wrist. He held her tightly, insisting that their fingers interlock, and Sophie had the feeling that she couldn't get away from him. At that moment, Hurley seemed like a tamed beast, all his sharp edges suppressed, willing to stay by Sophie's side even if it meant being a well-behaved pet for her. But this softer side of him was only shown when he was in front of Sophie.
Helpless, Sophie had no choice but to lead Hurley out. What she didn't expect was that not far from the door, some people craned their necks to look inside. When they saw that Sophie had noticed them, they quickly backed away and played innocent.
"Do you need anything?" Sophie thought that these people were acting suspiciously.
"No, we were just having a drink with Mr. Walton, and he had a little too much to drink." One of them explained, and her eyes fell on the hands of the two people who were holding each other.
They looked amazed, as if they had discovered some incredible secret - Mr. Walton and Mrs. Hades... Did they know about these things? Would they keep it a secret?
It was no wonder that Mr. Walton was acting so strangely; he had been as cold and distant as ice, but now, at the side of Mrs. Hades, there was not a trace of his usual arrogance.
"You just had dinner with Hurley? How much did he drink?"
"Mr. Walton has a good tolerance for alcohol, but it seems that he was not in a very good mood. He kept drinking, and he drank a lot. He hardly ate anything. Ms. Hades, please take better care of Mr. Walton. Thank you!"
Mr. Walton, this is all the help I can give you. I hope that you'll continue to take good care of our company in the future.
Hurley wasn't in a good mood? What was wrong?
Sophie led the drunk downstairs, her car parked downstairs.
"Get in the car." Sophie tried to push Hurley in, but he stuck to her.
"Hurley, you get in the car first, I still have to drive the car!"
If he did not let go of the steering wheel, how could she drive?
But Hurley's response was, "You can't drive after a night of drinking."
"Do you think I'm drunk just like you? I haven't been drinking tonight!"
Hurley's brow furrowed, he thought for a second, and in the next second he was pressing Sophie against the car door again, his lips on hers in a tempestuous kiss.
She obviously hadn't been drinking, but she felt a touch of drunkenness. Why else wouldn't she have pushed Hurley away?
